Season four of "The Hills" came to an end Monday night, and at finale party in New York, the cast wasn't sure if they'd be back for more drama. They didn't even seem to know there would be a fifth season until Lauren Conrad blurted out at the end of the "After Show": "But, there are more episodes. 'The Hills' is not done!"

"If there is one, [I'll be there]. MTV still hasn't confirmed," Stephanie Pratt told MTV News on the red carpet, adding that she would love to date more if the show returns. "I guess we'll know soon."

More of the show's cast said they'd like the opportunity to reprise their onscreen personas another time around. "I hope so — planning on it!" Holly Montag revealed. "I would like to have more fun ... more good times. More adventures. I want to go on a trip."

Meanwhile, Lauren Conrad's former-flame-turned-friend, Brody Jenner, admitted that even with a new show, "Bromance," coming soon, he would love to head back to "The Hills." "If I'm invited back, I'll be on it!" he said.

Really, the show's longevity all comes down to whether Lauren is ready to give it all up. The answer, as of now, is no. "I know that we're not done," she said. "I love filming the show. I have the best job ever. I'm just excited to be a part of it. I guess you have to stay tuned."

One person who's sure she won't be back anytime soon is Whitney Port, whose New York spin-off, "The City," premieres on December 29.

"I love the city so far," Whitney said. "It's so great. [The show] follows my move ... and [shows me] becoming a young woman. It's a good balance of my personal and professional life. It allows the viewers to grow up with me."

Should we expect to see any "Hills"/"City" crossover episodes eventually? "You know, I don't know," Port said. "Since I'm out here, and were not filming 'The Hills' out here, it wouldn't make sense for me to be on 'The Hills.' "

Soulja Boy Tell'em Opens Up About Life On New Record, iSouljaBoyTellem

'That's the deepest I ever got on a song, period,' he says of album track, 'I Pray.'
By Shaheem Reid

One of the biggest knocks that critics have against Soulja Boy Tell'em is that his music has no substance. On part of his second LP, iSouljaBoyTellem, he decided to let the world know a little bit more about his life.

"I got girls claiming I got them pregnant, my life is really hectic," he raps on "I Pray," the album's outro. "I'm going through the spectrum, don't hate it, just respect it." He goes on to talk about a partially damaged relationship with his birth mother and stepmother as well as his detractors, and calls for his friend Gucci Mane to be released from prison.

"'I Pray,' it's the outro of my CD," he explained last week — after his video game battle with MTV News' Stephen Totilo — "That's the deepest I ever got on a song, period, in my career. I was just really speaking on different situations. Me becoming a celebrity, coming from high-school student to being a celebrity and having people hate on you. How my moms feel about the situation. It's mixed emotions all round my family. You got people asking for money, people feeling a certain kind of way now that I'm in the situation I'm in."

Soulja does revisit most of the elements that gained him his young following on his self-titled debut. "Booty Got Swag" is the sequel to his hit "Donk."

"The first 'Donk' record was in-the-club crazy," he said. "That was the song that had all the dudes coming up to me saying, 'I appreciate that, dog.' The women loved it. So I was, like, 'I gotta do a part two for this album.'

"'Rubber Bands," he added, describing another track off the LP, "is basically when I first came into the game, I didn't used to rock all this jewelry. I used to rock rubber bands. Even on the 'Superman' video, I had the rubber-band necklace, the rubber-band bracelet. I did that track over a Drumma Boy beat. He did the 'Pray' record, too. But the 'Rubber Bands,' that's for the old Soulja Boy fans."

Soulja has already released "Bird Walk" and "Turn My Swag On" off the new album. "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" with Sammie is the new single and video.

"Jim Johnson produced that record," said Soulja, who plans to tour in February. "He did 'Lollipop' for Lil Wayne and 'Whatever You Like' for T.I. Basically, it's about when you been in a situation. Say you're at work and your girl was at work. You really wanna see her. You call her, you wanna kiss her. You want to get to her but you can't. You kiss her through the phone."

Rookies And Breakouts Of 2008 -- From Taylor Swift To Robert Pattinson -- Proved Pop Culture Belongs To Teens Again

Posted: 23 Dec 2008 05:00 AM PST

These young stars ruled 2008 and don't plan on slowing down in the year to come.

This year we got to know a lot of new faces. We got to meet some teen queens, a brother boy band who aren't named Hanson, German pop-rock stars and a pair of love-struck teens whose star-crossed love affair made teen girls everywhere want to fall in love with a vampire. We have this group of young people to thank for making 2008 the year that pop music and culture became teen-driven again.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift proved to everyone she was "fearless" in 2008. Between battling her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, on the pages of gossip Web sites and getting nominated for a slew of awards, including a VMA, Swift told MTV News, "To me fearless doesn't mean you are completely unafraid. It means you have a lot of fears, but you jump anyway."

Miranda Cosgrove
If Miley Cyrus rules Disney, then Miranda Cosgrove is the queen of all things Nickelodeon. Starring in "iCarly," Miranda sings and vlogs as her onscreen alter ego. This year, the TV movie version of the show was a hit with fans, and even scored more ratings than the Jonas Brothers' juggernaut "Camp Rock." And don't expect Miranda to rest on her laurels in 2009: She's already hard at work on an album, some of which she helped write, that's due sometime next year.

Selena Gomez
She kicked off the year with her TV show, "Wizards of Waverly Place," only to find herself pitted against Miley Cyrus, starring in a Jonas Brothers music video and accidentally leaking news that there's a "Wizards" movie in the works. She also became a member of the Jonas Brothers girlfriends club when she reportedly began dating Nick over the summer.

Jonas Brothers
Nick, Joe and Kevin make girls swoon everywhere they go. They were "Burnin' Up" the music charts, the Disney channel, the VMAs and the loins of their rabid teen base all year long. They have a TV show and some movies, including their foray into 3-D cinema, in the works for 2009, so they may have broken out in 2008 but they'll soon be ranking as MVPs.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
This year Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson solidified themselves as Hollywood players. Starring as Bella and Edward in the amazingly popular "Twilight," they won the hearts of teenage girls everywhere, whose fanaticism and support of the movie made it a surefire hit. They are already lined up to work on its sequel, "New Moon," so you know these two are ready to rule the 2009 box office as well.

Demi Lovato
Early this year, Demi Lovato found herself working alongside the Jonas Brothers in "Camp Rock." She quickly scaled the Disney ranks, where she toured with the JoBros, denied she had any feud with supposed rival Miley Cyrus and released her album "Don't Forget," which debuted at #2 on the charts. She's got a TV show, "Sonny with a Chance," in the works, and we're thinking that Demi has proven she's worth her weight in mouse ears.

Tokio Hotel
A group of German teenagers, whose lead singer defies gravity thanks to his hairstyle choice, quickly won the hearts of teens throughout the world, including the United States. They won a VMA, got waxed and shared their piercings and tats with MTV News. They're already hard at work on the follow-up album to their much loved "Scream," despite their fears that their English just isn't up to par.

Plies
After telling MTV News, "I had to lose something to get where I am today," it must have been a good feeling to have his album "Definition of Real" debut at #2 on the charts. He also put out some tracks that saw him collaborating with everyone from Ne-Yo to Jamie Foxx to Keyshia Cole. He explained, "I wanted to try something differently than I did on my last album." Mission accomplished.

"HSM3" New Class
Justin Martin and Jemma McKenzie-Brown are hoping to pick up where Zac, Vanessa, Corbin and Ashley left off. Describing themselves as a "breath of fresh air" to the franchise, and with rumors of a fourth "High School Musical" in the works, there's definitely the possibility that these two young'uns have what it takes to sing and dance their way into the hearts of teens everywhere.

Who do you think were the hottest rookies and breakout artists of 2008? Sound off below!

DJ Drama's New Single -- Featuring T.I., Akon and Snoop -- Hits The 'Net

"Day Dreamin' " is the lead track from forthcoming Gangsta Grillz 2: The Album (The Mixtape President).

"I don't want to dramatize it too much — no pun intended," DJ Drama said. "[But the album is] just bangers, something that can rock from beginning to end."

You'll have to forgive the influential mixtape DJ: It's easy to boast when you can score Akon, Snoop Dogg, and T.I. on one song.

The aforementioned trio appear on Drama's "Day Dreamin'," which hit the web on Monday. The track is the lead single from his Gangsta Grillz 2: The Album (The Mixtape President), which is tentatively scheduled to be released in late February on Atlantic Records.

"Day Dreamin'," however, is a bit of a departure for the Atlanta-based DJ (who, of course, was the target of a mixtape sting almost two years back). The Drumma Boy-produced record is more of an upbeat dance number compared to his previous singles like "Feds Taking Pictures" and "5000 Ones."

"Can you believe my fantasy girl is a go-go dancer ... Yeah, she got me day dreamin'," Akon croons on the chorus.

Drama, however, said the song represents him as much as any of his other records.

"It's a no-brainer, to me," he told MTV News of making the song the first single from the album. "The record is hot and the feedback was great, so I went with it. My last album, I had good records, and that album was a success to me [despite] very little video and airplay.

"I don't wanna get pigeonholed," he continued. "The brand is Gangsta Grillz, but if people question the type of songs that I put out, those are the type of people that questioned Gangsta Grillz before I did one with [underground rap group] Little Brother, before I did one with Pharrell. Gangsta Grillz is what I make it. It represents what I am. DJ Drama is a DJ that loves music in all forms. I want women to dance, because then the guys are gonna follow. I'm excited [by the album]. I just wanna put out big records."

Drama snagged the beat for "Day Dreamin' " from producer Drumma Boy, who also helmed Young Jeezy's "Put On" (featuring Kanye West) and worked on the DJ's debut. He then turned to Akon for the foundation of the track. The Senegalese singer had recorded vocals for Drama's first album, but the effort didn't make the project. Drama said he was eager to make sure 'Kon make the cut this go 'round. And when he got the vocals back, he said he knew it was the single.

Now, the DJ's goal is to get more video and radio play for this album.

"The streets already know me," he said. "Mixtape after mixtape, 'hood anthem after 'hood anthem; from the Guccis to the Jeezys to the Tips to the Waynes to the Ludacrises. The streets know me. This is the record that really shows it's the album and not the mixtape."

Spencer Pratt Denies Heidi Montag Quickie Wedding On 'Hills' Finale, But He Still Wants Kids ASAP

On the finale red carpet, Stephanie, Holly, Audrina, LC and others are shocked to hear of the couple's plans to start a family.

Though the couple had eloped in Mexico last month, Spencer Pratt decided at the last minute on Monday night's season finale of "The Hills" not to make his marriage to Heidi Montag legal until they could have a big wedding. "I just want to give you the wedding of your dreams that you have been talking about for three years," he said, instead of reciting his vows at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.

But before that bombshell aired on Monday, Heidi and Spencer were talking up their plans to start a family at the finale party at New York's Tavern on the Green. Earlier that day, Spencer told Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM that they "need a kid ASAP," and he didn't back out of it when MTV News asked about their plans.

"I'm always serious," Spencer said on the red carpet. "ASAP could be in five years in my world. Could be! I don't [know]. I'm not having the kids, so I'm not making the timetable."

Heidi elaborated on when that timetable seemed plausible. "We've been talking about it. We'll see! We'll see!"

The couple's family and friends seemed almost more surprised to hear this than they were about the wedding — perhaps because they thought Spencer's move at the courthouse meant they weren't going to make any more drastic family decisions soon.

Stephanie Pratt didn't appear to know anything about her brother's plans until she walked the carpet. "Oh, my gosh! They said soon?" she said. "I know they want a dog soon.

"No, he was kidding!" Stephanie went on. "I can't believe that. Really? Oh my God, they want to play house." Pratt said she wasn't sure if the couple is ready to take on the responsibility of raising a child and suggested that they play house "without kids."

By contrast, Heidi's sister, Holly, was excited at the possibility of being called aunt. "It would be honor to be able to be an aunt," she said. "I'm sure their children would be so beautiful."

Meanwhile, Audrina Patridge didn't seem shocked by the couple's decision to start a family. But she said she needs to see some more evidence before she can decide if they're ready for parenthood. "Well, they're married now, so might as well," she said. "I think they'd be good parents. I don't know [though]. I've never really seen them with kids."

Although Lauren Conrad and Heidi may have kissed and sort of made up in the finale, she didn't feel it was the right time for her to weigh in on baby Speidi. "I didn't hear," she told MTV News of their parenting plans. "I would rather not have an opinion on that."

Lo Bosworth also took herself out of the debate. "I guess if they want to start a family, it's their decision," she said. "Whenever someone gets married, you have to wish them the best and hope that they do OK."

Whitney Port, who celebrated her last season on "The Hills", wished the best for Heidi and Spencer, even though she thought maybe it was a bit soon into their relationship. "I think they just got married, and they should enjoy their married life."

'Hills' Co-Star Brody Jenner Says He And Lauren Conrad Are Friends With Benefits

'We had a friendmance,' the star of the upcoming spin-off 'Bromance' says of relationship with his ex.

The on-again, off-again romantic entanglements between Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner have been well-documented on "The Hills": After dating for a bit, the couple eventually broke up but remained friends. Jenner, however, has a better way to define their relationship.

"It's not a 'bromance,' " he told MTV News at the "Hills" finale party at New York's Tavern on the Green. "We're gonna come up with a new name. It's gonna be something where a guy and girl can be friends without actually being called in a relationship."

(Read what Spencer and Heidi's friends had to say about their complicated relationship at the finale.)

His pal and fellow "Hills" castmate Frankie Delgado told Jenner that a word already exists to describe the not-so-torrid love affair between the former flames. "It's called friends with benefits," he said.

"Oh, did somebody come up with that?" Jenner quipped. "Well, we had a friendmance."

Although he wasn't quick to establish the terms of a "friendmance," Jenner had quite an elaborate way to define a bromance. "It's a football game," he said. "It's not baseball. The kickoff is the meeting: 'Hey, what's up, bro?' Then, when they catch the ball, it's like, 'Is he going to be cool or not?' If he makes it past the 25-yard line, he's all right. If he gets past that, he's a bro."

Bros apparently also spend time in hot tubs together, as is the case on Jenner's new show "Bromance," which premieres December 29. "I like awkward guy moments," Jenner explained. "In pop culture these days, people love awkward guy moments.

"I'm comfortable with my sexuality," he added. "I have a girlfriend. Everyone who knows me knows I'm not gay. It's all love."

Jenner's former bro Spencer Pratt told MTV News he wants to share the love too. "I just asked when auditions are for season two," he said, after sharing a hug with Jenner on the red carpet. "I'm going to try to get back in the bro clique."

Taylor Swift Vs. Joe Jonas, Kanye West Vs. Photogs And Other Great Feuds Of 2008

Other favorite battles: Selena and Demi against Miley and Mandy, Aubrey O'Day against Diddy and more.
By Jocelyn Vena

In 2008, celebrities waged war on each other, on purity rings, on the paparazzi 𔃉 you name it. There were battles fought in the pages of magazines, on YouTube and at airport gates. And we learned that when celebrities get a camera in their face they either ham it up (Heidi and Spencer) or beat up on the cameraman and/or his equipment (Kanye West). So, here we look back on the greatest celebrity feuds of the past year.

Kanye West vs. Paparazzi

Kanye West had not one, but two scuffles involving members of the media. In September, the rapper, along with his bodyguard, destroyed the property of a paparazzo trying to take a picture of the rapper at Los Angeles International Airport. He avoided felony charges because he destroyed only a piece of lighting equipment worth less than $100. Then, after a similar scuffle with a photographer in Jolly Old England, he was taken in for questioning again. He avoided those charges too, and blogged about it. This guy really hates getting his picture taken, but he really loves blogging.

Taylor Swift vs. Joe Jonas

Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas met, presumably fell in love and went to the VMAs together. Then they broke up, according to her, because of Camilla Belle, whom he met the set of his "Lovebug" music video. She said he dumped her in a 27-second phone call. She made a wacky video telling her doll not to date a Joe Jonas doll. Joe and his brothers took to their MySpace blog to deny everything Taylor said, but they later took down the post. She wrote a song about it and sold tons of albums. And now Camilla might be two-timing Joe with Robert Pattinson, and well, that's how young love goes.

Russell Brand vs. Purity Rings

Brand made a few naughty jokes at the Jonas Brothers' expense when he hosted the September VMA broadcast, poking fun at their purity/ promise rings. During the show, Jordin Sparks, who also wears a purity ring, spoke out against the comedian's remarks, saying some people don't want to be "sluts" (um, OK). And sometime later, Paris Hilton (yes, that one) stepped in and defended the boys. Brand later apologized for his remark and the Jonas Brothers accepted. But last week, Brand said he wanted to kiss them at midnight on New Year's Eve. Guess he can't take a hint.

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez vs. Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux

They're all young, cute Disney stars (and Miley's backup dancer). But little did we know that there's a mean girl lurking in each of them. In 2008, there was buzz starting that Demi or Selena could dethrone Miley as Disney Queen Bee. Demi and Selena also began making YouTube videos very similar to Miley and Mandy's. So, Miley and Mandy recorded a video that clearly mocked the others. She later said she was sorry about it. And in an attempt to play nice (or bow to the still-reigning queen), both Selena and Demi told us there was no Miley feud.

Aubrey O'Day vs. Diddy

On the season-three finale of "Making the Band 4," Diddy, in classic Diddy fashion, single-handedly kicked out the most famous members of Danity Kane, Aubrey O'Day and D. Woods, basically for being too famous. He didn't like O'Day's constant need to be in the limelight, while D.Woods was just guilty by association. The three remaining members of the group spoke out about Diddy's decision, but O'Day and Woods have been pretty quiet about the whole incident. But with a new season of "Making the Band" starting in 2009, we don't expect the feud to die anytime soon.

The Montags vs. Spencer Pratt

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are without a doubt the most polarizing duo on "The Hills." And they stirred the pot once again when they eloped in Mexico in November. Heidi's mom gave the marriage six months and claimed that Spencer drugged her daughter to get her to agree to the elopement. Spencer denied the claim and said that she needed to take a chill pill. Heidi said that she couldn't be happier. Even Tom Cruise weighed in, advising Spencer that he'd eventually have to give Heidi the big wedding her family claims she always wanted. They've admitted they want kids. That may mean more trouble in 2009.

Jennifer Hudson will take the stage for the first time since the October murders of her mother, brother and nephew on February 6 as part of the Recording Academy's MusiCares Person of the Year gala.

The event will honor veteran singer/songwriter Neil Diamond, and will feature Hudson singing one of Diamond's songs alongside a number of other contemporary singers paying homage to the "Sweet Caroline" crooner, including Coldplay, Adele, Foo Fighters, Josh Groban, Raul Malo and Tim McGraw.

Hudson has remained secluded since the murders, which resulted in charges on December 2 against her brother-in-law, William Balfour, who faces three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion.

It was reported last week that Hudson, 27, was to begin filming on a video for her single "If It Isn't Love," but a spokesperson said those plans were never finalized and the shoot did not take place. Hudson has not performed and has rarely been seen in public since the murders, though her name has popped up frequently in rumors about possible performers at President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20.

The annual MusiCares event will honor Diamond for his "exceptional artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work, which has included many generous charitable donations over the years," according to a press release announcing the event. The gala will take place three days before the 51st annual Grammy Awards, which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8.

Murderer Of T.I.'s Friend Philant Johnson Gets 66 Years To Life For Shootout

Judge calls Hosea Thomas 'the poster boy for gun violence in Cincinnati.'
By Gil Kaufman

Less than a month after T.I. took the witness stand in a Cincinnati courtroom to testify about the night in 2006 when his best friend and assistant, Philant Johnson, was killed, Hosea Thomas was sentenced to 66 years in prison for pulling the trigger.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Ralph "Ted" Winkler handed down a sentence of 66 years to life on Tuesday morning (December 23). Thomas will not be eligible for release until 2074, when he will be 100 years old.

"Hosea Thomas really is not a tough guy," assistant prosecutor Seth Tieger told the judge during the sentencing hearing. "The thing that makes him dangerous is he's got a very quick temper, a horrible anger problem ... and access to guns."

The paper reported that it was the second time Thomas has been sent to prison for shooting a gun in public. The first time occurred in 1992, when he got into a bar fight, left to get a gun and returned to the scene and shot wildly into a crowd, wounding a pregnant woman who ended up giving birth three months prematurely due to her injuries. The woman later testified against Thomas, who spent eight years in prison for the incident.

This time, Thomas' fate was sealed by the damaging testimony of his own brother, Padron Thomas, who was behind the wheel when Hosea fired at T.I.'s van after an altercation at a Cincinnati nightclub on May 3, 2006.

During his testimony, T.I. described the chaotic scene inside the club that night and his difficulty in telling Johnson's then 5-year-old daughter that her father had passed, explaining that he apologized to Johnson's mother, "because I felt that all those rounds were fired for me."

During the trial, prosecutors claimed that Thomas was hit in the head with a liquor bottle during a fight at the club as he tried to get into the VIP area reserved for the rapper and his crew. Thomas later jumped into the passenger seat of his brother's car and they began chasing T.I.'s vans, leaning out of the window to fire shots at the vehicles while an unidentified person in one of the vans returned fire. The gun battle continued on the city streets and ended with Johnson being shot in the head and three others in the vans sustaining non-life-threatening wounds.

The Enquirer reported that Thomas — who was convicted of murder, five counts of felonious assault and being a felon with a gun — offered brief condolences to Johnson's family and asked Winkler for mercy in his sentencing, but the judge said he would show him only as much mercy as Thomas showed his victims.

"(Thomas) gave Philant Johnson a death sentence, and his family — he gave them a death sentence as well," the judge said, adding that he hoped Thomas never gets out of prison. "All of his crimes have been cowardly and senseless. ... You could say he's the poster boy for gun violence in Cincinnati."

On Monday night's season finale of "friendmance" with Spencer's one-time BFF Brody Jenner. "I love it. It's very entertaining."

Meanwhile, Heidi and Lauren were a bit more serious when they spoke about the reunion to MTV News. "It was great," Lauren Conrad told MTV news. "I feel like it was kind of a long time coming. It was nice that we were finally able to come to a point where we could talk and be friendly. "

"We just saw each other briefly and it was good to see her," Heidi added. "It's been a long time, and I think we've both grown a lot."

Meanwhile, Audrina Patridge, who has her fair share of drama with Lauren, was happy to see that the duo were able to put some of the past behind them. "I think it's good. Everything takes time," she said. "It happens when it's supposed to."

Lauren's other best friends for life, Whitney Port and Lo Bosworth, were supportive of the possibility that maybe these two could make it work again. "I think it's awesome. I mean, I think it was inevitable," Port said. "I'm really happy for them."

"I think it's good," Lo added. "Everyone's going to have better understanding of what really happened."

During their reunion on the episode, Lauren reminded Heidi that she has a great mom and implied that maybe she should work on repairing their relationship. Earlier in the episode, Darlene, Heidi's mother, confronted Spencer and accused him of coercing Heidi into marrying him.

Perhaps in an effort to mend another bad relationship, Spencer decided not to legalize the marriage, but to wait to have a real reception that included their families. "I just had visions of her mom trying to kill me in my sleep, so I saw that as a possibility," Pratt told Usmagazine.com. "We're on a better path."
