50 Cent Admits To Being A Junkie: 'I'm Addicted To Success'

'There's no rehab for success, or I'd go check in right now,' says the mogul, who has a film, video game and LP lined up.

When you've made almost as much money in one year as the new $160 million man C.C. Sabathia will make over a seven-year span with his New York Yankees contract, no wonder 50 Cent talks casually about his funds depleting.

"The only thing that doesn't come with an instruction book is money," he told MTV UK this week about his fortune. "So you get it, and if you blow it, it's cool. You've just got to go and get some more. My concept of where I'm headed next is wherever creatively I lead myself. The projects that I commit to are based on my passion for each individual thing."

50's current project is "Dead Man Running," which he's filming in London. His video game "Blood in the Sand" drops in January (we'll have more on that in the coming days), and Before I Self-Destruct, Fif's fourth solo album, comes out February 4. Bricks are not on his radar.

"I wouldn't be a part of a video game if I didn't think I could bring something to it that would up the standards of the market space," he explained. "Film projects are the same. When I read the screenplay, I envision what's happening in the screenplay, and if it's exciting to me, I'll commit to it. If not, I won't. I couldn't care less what an agent says or a manager. I don't let them make decisions for me, because if I fail, I'd rather it be my fault and a reflection of something that I chose to do than someone else's idea and me having to pay for it through my career.

"I've had a lot of success, and I plan on having a lot more," 50 added. "I feel like I'm a work in progress, and if I'm honest with you, I'm a junkie. I'm addicted to success. There's no rehab for success, or I'd go check in right now."

Scarface's New Love? Golf -- And He Says It's Harder Than Rapping

'Waaayyyy harder,' insists MC, who started golfing regularly after his 14-year-old daughter beat him.

HOUSTON — Seems unlikely, but one of the baddest men in all of Texas got his butt whupped by a 14-year-old girl. Even more unlikely, he's grateful for the whupping because it introduced him to one of the new loves of his life.

"I started playing a good year [ago], in September," Scarface said, standing on the greens at Wild Cat Golf Club.

'Face attends the Matt Swanson School of Golf at the club. The golf course used to be a junkyard back when Uncle 'Face was just a young buck. Now he spends just about every day he has free here fine-tuning his stroke. On average, he can hit about 93, but on a good day, his score is in the 80s.

"My daughter played golf," said 'Face, in full golf attire. "She was taking golf lessons. I bought her some clubs, and I bought me some clubs. I got out there thinking it was all fun and games, and my daughter kicked my ass. Can you imagine getting beat by your 14-year-old daughter? That kinda hurt my pride. So I'm trying to get good so I can play my daughter again."

Training for a rematch with his kid (they still haven't played again) caught 'Face off-guard: He began to love what he was doing.

"Messing with wanting to hit the ball straighter and even straighter and wanting to chip the ball and place the ball got me addicted. So when I wake up in the morning, I'm going to hit some balls. I play every day. Every single day. I look forward to Sunday. That's my favorite day to play, because I play with some old cats that are my buddies.

"It's a beautiful thing, man, to get out here," he added. "It's real quiet. And it's just you and the golf ball. It looks easy, but this is probably the hardest thing you had to do. Golf is like a woman. One day everything is cool. Next day, you be like, 'What happened?' "

'Face and his instructor, Bruce Olson, made a heckuva combination. Olson is the straight man to Scarface's comedian.

"I don't trust you," Olson said to 'Face, who was sitting behind the wheel on their golf cart.

"You don't trust my driving?" asked 'Face, who moved over to sit shotgun.

"I don't trust you as far as I can throw you, and that's not far," Olson replied.

Their rapport is like two friends who've known each other for years.

"Why do my clubs feel so short today? Am I getting taller?" asked 'Face, now on the grass ready to tee off. Olson just shook his head.

"I don't wanna yank up the rug," Scarface would later whine with a smile.

Olson just calmly encouraged the rap legend to keep yanking it up. "Divot after the golf ball," Olson said, explaining what Scarface's made-up phrase "yank up the rug" meant. "In the past, when he's taken divots, they've been pointed to the left. So he's coming in the golf ball too steep. So we're trying to shallow him, so he can get a little more pressure on the golf ball and get the ball first, then grass. When he says it hurts, it's because he's coming in too steep. We wanna get ball first, then rug, so it'll go straight."

"We got this love/hate relationship," 'Face joked. "If I hit a good shot, I love him. If I mess up, all hell is gonna break loose."

It was all love that day, though. Scarface's stroke has improved drastically since fall of 2007. But he's not pumped up — well, not too pumped.

"Vijay Singh would kick my ass. Tiger Woods, on the other hand, I might kick Tiger's ass. ... Nah. God sent Tiger Woods here to play golf for real," 'Face said.

He does think he could take Lil Jon or Will Smith. "I call him the Fresh Prince," he said of his blockbuster-making friend. The two go way back to tours in the '80s.

Don't look for Scarface to be performing for too many more years. He released his "last" album, Emeritus, last week and has ruled out a comeback.

"I quit. I'm done. I'mma do a farewell U.S. tour, then a farewell European tour," he promised. "Then I'm heading for the hills. This is my last run, man. I had a real good time. I enjoyed it."

So does he love golf more than rapping? That is yet to be determined, but he does admit that swinging clubs is tougher than slangin' rhymes.

"Waaayyyy harder," he said. "When I was doing the Made album, I was just learning how to play. When I was doing the Emeritus album, I was playing my ass off. That's all we had to do — come out here and hit balls and go to the studio."

Britney Spears Is Back On Top As <i>Circus</i> Sells More Than 500,000 Copies

With her fifth debut at #1 on the Billboard albums chart, Brit confirms her comeback.

Well, there's really no denying it now: Britney Spears really is back! Back to selling tons of records, at least.

Her Circus album will debut at #1 on next week's Billboard albums chart, selling just under 505,100 copies. It's Spears' fifth album to debut at #1 on the chart, and it sold nearly twice as many copies as last year's Blackout album, which was denied the top spot on the chart by the Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden.

Circus' first-week sales total is certainly big, but it's only the sixth biggest opening of 2008, behind albums like Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, AC/DC's Black Ice, Coldplay's Viva la Vida, Taylor Swift's Fearless and T.I.'s Paper Trail. Still, it outpaced the first-week numbers of some of Brit's pop peers, including Beyoncé's I Am ... Sasha Fierce, Mariah Carey's E = MC2 and Miley Cyrus' Breakout.

Interestingly enough, the Brit-sanity was so high among album buyers that Blackout also managed to return to the charts, selling more than 4,600 copies to land at #198.

Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, told The Associated Press that the success of Circus really does signify Brit's triumphant return. "At the end of the day, I think she is America's pop princess, and the world's pop princess, and this just reconfirms it to everyone who doubted it," he said. "Professionally, she's feeling great. ... It's great for her to hear that she's got a #1 album again."

Those sentiments were seconded by in a statement from Jive Records, Britney's label. "We're absolutely thrilled for Britney," the statement reads. "The response to Circus is a testament to how great the album is, and to how connected and supportive Britney's fans are to her and her music."

Swift's Fearless lands in the #2 spot on the albums chart for the second-straight week, selling 193,500 copies. Beyoncé's Sasha Fierce is at #3, with sales of more than 152,800 copies. Last week's chart champ, Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak, drops to #4, with sales of close to 141,700 copies. Nickelback's Dark Horse rounds out the top five, selling 133,400 copies.

The rest of the top 10 features the "Twilight" soundtrack at #6; the week's other big-name debut, Akon's Freedom at #7; the soundtrack to "High School Musical 3" at #8; the ubiquitous hits collection Now That's What I Call Music! 29 at #9; and David Cook's self-titled effort at #10.

Aside from Circus and Freedom (which sold 110,600 copies), other notable debuts on next week's chart include Scarface's Emeritus (#24, with 42,000 copies sold), Neil Young's Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968 (#40, with 26,400 copies sold) and the soundtrack to Beyoncé's new movie, "Cadillac Records" (#66, with 15,600 copies sold).

Beef! Soulja Boy Tell'em And Charles Hamilton Square Off In Online Video Battle

Rival MCs exchange jabs over hip-hop and, er, 'Sonic the Hedgehog.'

In the world of hip-hop, beef is nothing new. In the early days, rappers would battle to prove who was the superior MC. But that healthy spirit of competition has largely been lost on us.

Recently, beef has become like watching a juvenile high-school dispute. So it's funny that rap's latest beef is between two individuals not too far removed from banging beats on the lunchroom table.

It seems Soulja Boy Tell'em and Charles Hamilton aren't the best of friends. In a video on ThisIs50.com, Hamilton is asked about his recent blowup on Shade 45 Radio, in which he reacted strongly — to say the least — against being compared with Soulja Boy.

"Don't compare me to somebody who made a great marketing ploy when I'm just living my life regular," Hamilton said, adding that while Soulja was smart for taking advantage of the online marketing capabilities of YouTube and MySpace, some of his antics have hurt the chances of other up-and-coming artists.

"It's because of Soulja Boy that the way I live, the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' sh-- that's dead real to me, is considered a joke," Hamilton fumed. The MC, who is known for his love of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game (he even released a mixtape called Sonic the Hamilton), said that the way he expresses himself is now viewed as a gimmick. He said he and other artists like Kid Cudi and Cory Gunz's opportunities to gain mainstream acceptance have been spoiled.

Never one to be outdone by an Internet video, Soulja Boy's reply is posted just above Hamilton's video on ThisIs50.com. In what may be a moment of maturity, Soulja Boy almost takes the high road.

"I'd rather take the positive route and not get into beef, and just let you know that it's not my fault that whatever you got going on ain't going right," Soulja Boy said. "You're going to have to go back to the drawing board, get the magic marker, X out the 'Sonic' and you might want to f--- with 'Mario.' "

Soulja Boy said that he's not trying to hurt anyone's career opportunities, and that his goal is to make fun, entertaining, club-friendly music. He even said that he wanted to sign Cory Gunz.

But he also said that Hamilton shouldn't blame any shortcomings on other artists.

"If my next album flops, do you think I'm going to be like, 'Man, it's Lil Wayne's fault. It's T.I.'s fault.' Nah, n---a, it's my fault."

Kanye West Blogs About Success Of 'Heartless': 'It Doesn't Sound Like Anything Else Ever Made In History!'

He says 'Paranoid' and 'Robocop' are 'neck and neck' to be his next single.

Kanye West is never one to shy away from tooting his own horn, and he's taking the success of his latest single "Heartless" as one of those rarely missed opportunities.

On his blog, in all caps, Kanye wrote, "It doesn't sound like anything else ever made in history!"

"This is a song nobody can front on!!! The beat is on some RZA sh--, and every line could make the ultimate rap hook!"

Despite all the great response he's been getting about the album, Kanye wants to let it soak into the cultural psyche and not release too many singles too fast. "I'm gonna walk this album slow like a more independent approach," he wrote. "I feel like a new artist. There's actually arguments again. It reminds me of the first album when everybody said I couldn't rap."

Kanye also muses that the next single from 808s & Heartbreak might be "Paranoid," but he isn't ready to settle on anything just yet. "['Paranoid' is] neck and neck with 'Robocop'!!!" he wrote. "I'm not gonna release either for a while because I want 'Heartless' and 'Love Lockdown' to soak into the culture!!"

He's also proud of the fact that the album is more far-reaching than his previous efforts. He even admitted that he wasn't satisfied with his mega-selling last album, Graduation. "I felt like certain records were keeping it from being a play in every environment," he wrote. " ... It was such a big compliment for me to have songs that are #1 on [BET's '106 & Park'] and can play right next to Vampire Weekend, Sade or Silverchair in a high-end fashion store!"

He also attributes a lot of the success to the far-reaching power that "Love Lockdown" has had since its release earlier this fall. "It's such a triumph to have 'Love Lockdown' on radio," he said. "This is new music! It might take some getting used to, but when it sets in it will make all the difference!"

Pete Wentz And Ashlee Simpson Say New Baby Makes Them 'Laugh And Smile Every Day'

New parents Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are back painting the town red, and they can't stop talking about their bundle of joy, Bronx Mowgli, born just a few weeks ago. After hitting a Fall Out Boy concert Monday night, the happy couple were out again Tuesday night in Los Angeles at Travis McCoy's art show, where Pete gushed about his son.

"Every time I see my son, it looks like he's landing on the moon and discovering new rocks and stuff," he told People magazine. "I mean, every time he looks at his hand, it's like he's Christopher Columbus making it across the ocean. It's pretty awesome."

Despite Pete's fascination with art, he insists he's not going to push young Bronx into anything. He wants him to figure out his interests on his own. "I don't think it's appropriate for the nursery," he said of McCoy's artwork. "I'm not the kind of person that's going to push something on my kid. If he decides to go, 'Hey, dad, why don't you draw this for me or play this for me,' that would be cool."

Meanwhile, Ashlee has taken to MySpace to blog about being a new mom and how excited she is by it. "Motherhood is the most fantastic experience I have ever been through," she wrote. "Bronx makes me laugh and smile every day! ... I can't wait to spend [the holiday] with my new family. Christmas tree goes up tomorrow!"

She added, "I finally left the house for Fall Out Boy's show on Monday night, which was so good. Their new songs sound awesome live; I can't wait for their new record! And last night I went to Pete and Bronx's godfather Travis' art show."

Speaking of Travis McCoy, hanging out with baby Bronx has the Gym Class Heroes frontman and girlfriend Katy Perry thinking about babies themselves. "When I passed Bronx off to her, we both looked at each other," he told People at his art show. "Any young couple in love around another young couple in love, it's inevitable that you're going to get that spirit."
