Lady Gaga Wanted To Go 'Full Mexicano' On 'Americano,' Producer Says

Lady Gaga dabbled in Latin-sounding music on Fame Monster with "Alejandro," but for Born This Way, Gaga took that sound to a whole new level on "Americano," a charging, no-holds-barred statement about love of all kinds, played up against the chugging backdrop of Spanish guitar, horns and a disco-ready beat.

"The song was directly inspired by events that happened that day. It was in August, in the middle of summer, last year, and it was when Prop 8 was overturned in California," producer Fernando Garibay told MTV News. "And there was a lot happening with immigration and the border issues and she pushed, she said she wanted to make this song really Mexican, with the struggle the Mexican people have gone through for freedom, for a better life, and so those ideas are directly implemented in the song."

Gaga, a Proposition 8 activist, tweeted shortly after the ruling that she was inspired to write music. The lyrics directly address that momentous occasion. On the song, Gaga sings, "If you love me, we can marry on the West Coast/ On a Wednesday, en el verano, en agosto."

Garibay explained that while she might shed light on gay rights lyrically, she's hoping to bring attention to immigration laws in the United States sonically.

"I remember her saying, 'Yes, I want mariachi, I want Latin percussions. I want to go big.' I'm so used to people in the industry saying, 'Latin: It's a little bit cheesy,' " he said. "But she was like, 'F that! Let's go full Mexicano.' We started with me on guitar and her on piano, kind of wrote the lyric on the spot, and she sang it all the way through, and that's how the song was born."

'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Chelsea Kane And Hines Ward Tie It Up

It was a tie for the top on the final "Dancing With the Stars" performance episode. The reality dance competition goes into Tuesday's finale with a dead heat between Disney star Chelsea Kane and football superstar Hines Ward.

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: The first couple to take the stage on Monday night's (May 23) "Dancing With the Stars" set the bar high. The junior members of the show impressed judges with their sexy round-one samba.

"I liked what I was watching," head judge Len Goodman told the pair. "I wasn't over-keen on the flailing-arm section, but overall, it was a great number. Well done."

Bruno Tonioli jumped up and down in his spirited, animated fashion, saying, "You were like an ultra-sexy bombshell! Way to go!"

Carrie Ann Inaba, who aided Kane in rehearsals, agreed: "Hot! Hot! Hot! Chelsea, you're on fire. That was so what I was wanting from you. You got down, you got dirty, you got sensual."

Judges gave them a 29/30 for their samba and went wild during their freestyle routine, giving them a perfect 30/30. Score: 59/60.

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: The elder stateswoman in the competition held her own. Judges found her samba to be elegant and full of womanhood but said she needed to play to her audience better.

"I love what you did. I love your movement quality. That was a really great samba," Inaba said.

Goodman agreed. "It was less aggressive, less full-on. But it had a lovely naturalness about it. It could have been a little bit crisper. But lovely job," Goodman said. Alley ended up with a 27/30 for the first round.

When the couple performed again, judges applauded their risk-taking. "Honest truth: 10 weeks ago, I would never have thought of you even attempting to do lifts and things you've done tonight. You have to really appreciate what you've achieved," Tonioli said. "Respect, girl, respect."

Inaba said her freestyle routine embodied what Alley has become: "the new poster child for life as it should be lived at 60 years old." Score: 54/60.

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: By the time Ward and his partner were done with their round-one routine, the audience leapt to its feet.

"You are able to make it be like you're running for a touchdown! The whole audience follows you. It makes me forget that I'm supposed to be judging. I love that," Inaba said.

Goodman critiqued the routine, saying, "as good as that was ... for me, it's not quite there yet. This competition is still anyone's to win or lose. Come back in that freestyle and really show me the wow factor. I know you've got it."

Tonioli disagreed: "It was like watching a mega-production on Broadway. Full of excitement. You connect with the audience like no one. You're just an entertainer. It's brilliant."

For their freestyle, they created what Hines called a halftime show. Tonioli cheered it, saying it was a crowd-pleasing event.

"That wasn't really a halftime show. That was the whole damn Super Bowl!" Inaba cheered.

Goodman said, "This competition is about give-and-take. The more you give, the more points you take. You've just given your all!" They earned 29/30 for round one, and their freestyle earned a perfect 30/30. Score: 59/60.

Lady Gaga's songs certainly sound like they take inspiration from all forms of music, including disco, pop, industrial, metal and even punk. In an hour-long exclusive interview, "Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside," set to air Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, the pop superstar opens up about the music she listened to in her youth, and how it helped shape her and make her the artist she is today.

"It was Green Day, Dookie, with my own money," she recalls in the special when asked about the first album she ever bought. "But my parents got me Stevie Wonder, Signed, Sealed [and] Delivered, and the Beatles when I was younger — A Hard Day's Night. Yeah, they were two CDs and they were given to me with [a] little boom box for Christmas when I was young."

She continues, "Just good choices, Mom and Dad. They could have chose anything, but Stevie Wonder and the Beatles? I mean, it's totally their fault. Don't spoon feed me the Beatles and Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen and Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and Elton John and expect for me not to turn out this way. Nobody made you do that."

During the intimate chat, Mother Monster opens up about her rise to fame — from being bullied by classmates during her school days to the moment she decided to pursue her dream of pop stardom. She speaks in depth about the moments that shaped her as an artist, including working on her highly anticipated just-released album, Born This Way.

"Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside" also focuses on the pop superstar at home, spotlighting her close relationship with her family and her life growing up in Manhattan before she made the decision to move out on her own to New York City's Lower East Side. Fans will get to intimately know the girl that became Lady Gaga.

Don't miss MTV News' hour-long exclusive interview, "Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside," airing Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

The surviving members of Cali Swag District have released a tribute song in honor of the late M-Bone. The song, titled "How to do That," was released Monday (May 23), a little over a week since M-Bone was murdered while sitting in his car on North La Brea Boulevard in his hometown of Inglewood, California.

JayAre, C-Smoove Da General and Yung perform on the tribute, which recalls fond memories of their fallen group member, over a beat outfitted with cavernous drums and creeping keys. "Then a n---a did you wrong/ On your way to get a blunt, you shoulda put it in a bong/ M-Bone lives through me, Smoove and Yung/ So when we all turned up, he still having fun," JayAre raps on the first verse.

Yung lyrically concurs that M-Bone (born Mante Talbert) brought energy integral to the group when on the third verse, he raps, "If Bone wasn't going to the club, then we all stayed/ The life of the party, everybody knew that."

The refrain "M-Bone! Show these cats how to do that/ Cats how to do that/ Cats how to do that" serves as the song's chorus.

M-Bone's funeral services are being held Friday at Faithful Central on 333 W. Florence Avenue in Inglewood, and fans have been invited to attend.

Despite reports that the "Teach Me How to Dougie" rapper was embroiled in a beef with "a jealous man" that lived in his apartment complex, there is still neither no clear motive for M-Bone's shooting nor have any arrests been made. The Inglewood Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward and call its homicide division at (310) 412-5246 or its 24-hour anonymous hotline number, (888) 41CRIME, or (888) 412-7463.

The first part of the two-part "Oprah Winfrey Show" star-studded surprise episode aired Monday (May 23), and with appearances from Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Halle Berry, Diane Sawyer and Madonna, it was Beyoncé and her over-the-top, girl-powered stage spectacle that had the audience — and Oprah — moving.

Donning a tuxedo bodysuit and surrounded by a cavalcade of all-female backup dancers, Beyoncé strutted her stuff as she performed her new single, "Run the World (Girls)."

"Oprah, your persuasion can build a nation," B said mid-song. "We love you, Oprah. Thank you," she told the talk-show host at the end of the performance, giving a hug to Winfrey.

Last week, MTV News spoke to Beyoncé's longtime choreographer, Frank Gatson Jr., who commented on the honor of performing for Oprah during her epic farewell week. (The final "Oprah Winfrey Show" episode airs Wednesday.)

"It's amazing. Me, myself, Beyoncé, people of color — we have so much respect for that woman" Gaston said. "How can we say no to [Oprah]? She possesses something that God has given her, 'cause when I saw her onstage, of all the people that were there, everyone's in awe of her — Tom Cruise, Halle Berry, Madonna — so we felt honored, privileged. That's why Beyoncé pushed us so hard. She wanted to make sure that Oprah's proud of what she did for her show. She did such an important number.

"In Oprah's world, women rule the world, so how coincidental that Beyoncé's song is called that?" he continued. "So it was just appropriate, perfection. I loved it. It was great to be there. The energy in that place was unbelievable."

'Kung Fu Panda 2' Stars Call Voice Acting 'Cushiest Job In The World'

Posted: 23 May 2011 05:13 AM PDT

'It's cushier because you can do it naked,' Seth Rogen tells MTV News at film's Hollywood premiere.
By Kara Warner

HOLLYWOOD — From the outside looking in, voice acting seems just a bit more lax than regular acting. MTV News headed to Hollywood on Sunday for the "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere to find out what the cast thought of the gig.

"It's the cushiest job in the world," Angelina Jolie, who voices Tigress in the film, told us. "You can bring your kids, you can go in your pajamas, [director] Jennifer [Yuh]'s really good about whatever you want to order for lunch, so you end up ordering pizza with your kids, snacking — it's great."

Jolie admitted that it's not all fun and games and pizza, though.

"What's challenging is that you're not with the other actors, and you have to come back sometime to respond to each other," she said. "You don't know exactly what they're doing with your voice, but when it's a great team like this, you can relax."

Naturally, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride, who play Mantis and Wolf Boss, respectively, took the G-rated subject to a more R-rated place.

"It's cushier because you can do it naked," Rogen said. "And that doesn't come across on voice."

"You always want to do roles naked," McBride pointed out.

"I always do. ... I finally found a way to do it," Rogen admitted. "And I also sit in a big bowl of custard when I do it."

"Oh, that's great," McBride added.

"Yeah. Naked in custard," Rogen continued. "I can finally do all the stuff I like doing at home, at work."

Lucy Liu brought us back to logical territory, echoing Jolie's comments that the challenges in voice acting are doing the recording sessions solo.

"What's difficult is that you don't actually get to see your other fellow actors until you get on the red carpet in Los Angeles. That's always fun, but sometimes you would love the energy of someone else reading with you," she said. "Sometimes you don't really know what's going on because they've made massive changes behind the scenes, and suddenly you're reading something, and then you watch it and you're like, 'Oh my gosh, that's what it was about.' "

"It's the same as any acting thing, really," Jack Black assured us. "You're just trying to imagine fairy-tale scenarios and make them as real as possible."

Black also revealed that, much like his regular acting gigs, he doesn't hold anything back even though he's just working with a microphone.

"I definitely let it rip. But when I go blooper reel, I go pretty blue," he said. "I don't think it's anything that's going to be used on the DVD outtakes."

Veteran actor Dustin Hoffman, who voices Shifu in the film, said that he found the recording booth to be pretty intimidating.

"I would rather do regular acting. I'd rather do interviews — and that's not high on my [list], they're difficult — than going in a room by yourself with a microphone," he said. "You feel like a first-year acting student."

Jennifer Lawrence Says Dying Her Hair Silenced 'Hunger Games' Hate

Posted: 22 May 2011 11:37 PM PDT

'People were like, 'Oh my gosh, blond hair can turn brown. Wow. It's a miracle,' ' actress quips to MTV News.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Jennifer Lawrence

Any time a beloved book series is adapted for the big screen, the fan fervor and excitement is twofold. On one hand, people are ecstatic to see celebrated characters and story lines in live-action form, but on the other hand, when said characters are cast, there is the inevitable period of criticizing and overanalyzing whatever actor or actress has been chosen.

Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence has experienced those criticisms ever since she was announced as the very lucky lady who will portray female protagonist Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games."

When Lawrence stopped by our MTV News offices in New York recently to talk about "Hunger Games" and her role in the highly anticipated "X-Men: First Class," we asked if she's paid attention to any of the online debate or if the criticisms scattered around the Web (the bulk of which centered around the actress' blond hair) have affected her in any way.

"No, because the Internet to me is kind of like a black hole, and I never really go on it," she said. "I wasn't aware that everybody was so upset until I after I got my hair dyed, and people were like, 'Oh my gosh, blond hair can turn brown. Wow. It's a miracle,' " she joked.

"So now is the only time that I'm being told that people hated me at first," she added with a smile.

Most of those hair debates have been silenced, given the fact that Lawrence's hair has been dyed much darker and fans had their first glimpse of Lawrence as Katniss last week when Entertainment Weekly released the first official photo from set.

Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

Mixtape Daily Main Pick

Mixtape: U.F.O.

Headliner: Torch

Representing: Bronx, New York

Key Cameos: Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Trey Songz

Real Spit: Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group is making a ton of noise these days. But before the Boss scooped up new recruits Wale, Meek Mill and Pill, MMG was flanked by Triple C's, Ross' three-man group consisting of Gunplay, Young Bleed and Bronx, New York, native Torch.

Known for bringing lyrical heat to tracks, Torch is spitting flames on his latest mixtape, U.F.O. There are no unidentified flying objects, however. "A lot of people hear 'U.F.O.' and they think spaceships. Well, I put my own little flip on it," Torch revealed to Mixtape Daily. "My version of U.F.O. stands for 'Underestimated, forgotten and overlooked.' I went from under financial depression to under federal observation, so it best describes my life and what I was going through."

On the tape, Torch brings his street tales to life and gets help from a pretty star-studded guest list. MMG CEO Ross appears on "Reala State," while Busta Rhymes, Yo Gotti, N.O.R.E. and Waka Flocka Flame help out on "Bang Yo City (Remix)." R&B star Trey Songz finds his vocals attached to the heart-felt "Eulogy," and Kevin Cossom contributes to the flirty "All Mine."

With such a diverse and notable lineup, Torch fills in the blanks with his New York wit and street-bred delivery, like a boss is supposed to.

Joints to Check For

»"Bang Yo City" - "[Busta Rhymes] seen me on my grind for a long time, so it was only right that he reached out and I reached back. I didn't jump at it when he reached out at me: I had to make sure I had the right beat. But as soon as I heard the beat — shout-out to Boi-1da, the Grammy Award-winning producer of 'Bang Yo City.' I heard 'Bus' — it just sound like 'Wild for Da Night' [by Rampage]. As soon as he heard it, he gave the same energy back that I thought he was gonna give."

»"Reala State" - "We did that MMG thing up in the studio, went in with a lot of energy, came out with a street banger."

Lady Gaga's 'Bloody Mary' 'Is Bold,' Born This Way Producer Says

'It's a beautiful song,' Fernando Garibay tells MTV News about the new Gaga track.

Lady Gaga has mixed up a "Bloody Mary" for her fans on Born This Way, which was released on Monday (May 23). The song sits at #8 on the album's track list, sandwiched between "Scheiße" and "Bad Kids."

The track is a dark, electro-pop tune about religion and art, putting into context a relationship Gaga is in where she plays the part of Bloody Mary, a character based in both urban legend (a ghostly figure that might appear if you say her name three times while looking into a mirror) and history (England's Queen Mary I, who burned religious radicals at the stake during the Marian Persecutions).

Born This Way musical producer Fernando Garibay recently chatted with MTV News about how Lady Gaga and her team recorded "Bloody Mary" while in his Los Angeles recording studio, where Mother Monster put the finishing touches on many of the album's tracks. According to Garibay, the synthy tune infused with lyrics in French was developed from a track that was put together by Born This Way co-producer DJ White Shadow.

"Another super cool record. This is another one that started on a White Shadow track," he recalled. "I remember [Gaga] played this to me in Australia and we sat down and ... opened up the track and she started singing [the melody and lyrics] to it."

From there, he, Gaga and White Shadow put their stamp on the song. "We came back and added a few more parts to it and facilitated with the production of the record," he explained. "Again, it stayed pretty much intact as the original demo. It's a beautiful song. It's very personal to her. It's pretty bold."

Have you heard "Bloody Mary," and if so, what do you think of the tune? Tell us in the comments.

New Boyz love the ladies — especially in the dark, as exhibited on their new Chris Brown-assisted single, "Better With the Lights Off."

Upon first listen, the Cali duo's second single off their recently released album, Too Cool to Care, might seem a bit brash, but the group insists that they mean no harm. "A lot of girls are like, 'You guys are mean on this track,' " Ben J told MTV News.

His partner, Legacy, chimed in: "We're not being mean. It's just we were telling the girl: she looks beautiful, she's cute, but at the end of the day, she looks better with the lights off."

Rather than be taken as an insult, Legacy said the song is meant to reveal their end-of-the-night fantasy, in which they hope to end their fantasy date between the sheets, in the dark. "We were just hinting our intentions, so that's what that song is about," he explained. "Once you listen to the lyrics, you'll be like, 'Oh, it's not a mean record.' "

One of the song's lyrics, referring to two of the Kardashian sisters, is sure to raise eyebrows. At the end of the track's first verse, Legacy spits, "Every guy wants to know how it is/ To clap off the lights and turn Khloé to Kim."

"Khloé is a beautiful girl. Like we were saying, you look beautiful, but you look better with the lights off," Legacy explained. "All I'm saying is, with that line, was you can get any type of girl, and when you clap off the lights, let your imagination run free and you can turn her into anybody you want."

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" promises to dive deeply into the franchise's mythology, reaching back to America's 1960s-era space race with the Soviets to expand upon humanity's contact with the alien robots. The new film will also stay true to the musical roots it laid down in 2007, when Linkin Park contributed the opening song to the film's soundtrack, as the band will not only contribute again to the soundtrack but, in a newly announced move, will perform in Moscow for the flick's premiere.

Linkin Park will perform in an outdoor concert at Vasilyevsky Spusk of the Red Square, with the Kremlin and St. Basil's Basilica looming in the background, on June 23, Paramount said in a press release. The concert coincides with the world premiere of "Dark of the Moon" at the Moscow International Film Festival.

During the show, LP is set to play "Iridescent," a remix of their Thousand Suns tune that is the end title song for "Dark of the Moon." Earlier this year, MTV News visited the set of the band's music video for the track.

"When Michael Bay called us about putting a song in the new 'Transformers' movie, the one that came immediately to mind was 'Iridescent' because it's been a fan favorite at the shows," vocalist Mike Shinoda told us. "It's definitely a less in-your-face song. There's a somber tone to it and a hopeful tone to it. ... Michael actually loved pairing it with the movie because there's something that he feels it speaks to about the story line."

The collaboration marks the third straight time the band has been involved with the franchise. LP's "What I've Done," a double-platinum single off and their multiplatinum Minutes to Midnight, was featured on the first film's soundtrack. And the second film, "Revenge of the Fallen," included "New Divide," a tune that has been downloaded more than 3 million times and spent three months at the top of the Billboard rock chart.

LP's Moscow concert falls in the midst of their European summer tour, which kicks off in Austria on June 11 and continues through Germany, Italy, France and other locales before wrapping up in London on July 4. The 3-D "Dark of the Moon," meanwhile, hits U.S. theaters on June 29 — two days earlier than originally planned.

Game's Manager Jimmy 'Henchman' Responds To Fed Drug Warrant Report

'I just want my fair trial and to not be railroaded as they so eagerly want to do,' Czar Entertainment exec wrote in a statement.

Almost a week after news emerged that a federal arrest warrant had been issued for Czar Entertainment boss James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond in connection with his alleged involvement in a cocaine distribution ring, the music mogul responded on Monday (May 23) to the reports with a lengthy letter professing his innocence.

Lashing out at what he called the "slanderous media" coverage he's gotten about the case and apologizing to the artists and music executives he's worked with over the years, as well as his family, Rosemond said he was surprised by the news of the warrant, which was first reported in the tabloid New York Post.

"The events over the past week, to say the least, have caught me off guard. Although I have been aware of an investigation taking place over the last four years, I was never informed that an arrest warrant had been issued in my name. I first learned about that warrant through the media when the news was released last week," Rosemond wrote.

Last week Rosemond's lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, confirmed to us that he was aware of the indictment and had defended his client against the charges it contained for several years but that he had not heard about the arrest warrant until it was reported in the Post.

"The purpose of this statement is not to assert some kind of grandiose conspiracy theory, but I will state some facts," Rosemond said in his statement, first issued to XXL magazine. "These prosecutors have already begun my trial through the media and I'm releasing this statement in order to set the record straight. I just want a fair trial. I came up from nothing and made some mistakes early in my life of which I have already served time. Since then, I have worked hard to establish my career in the music industry only to be targeted by these opportunistic prosecutors with a personal vendetta against me."

Though MTV News has not named them, Rosemond goes on to refer disparagingly to two New York prosecutors who he claims are "spearheading this slanderous and trumped up case against me," claiming that one of them is using the case to "propel himself to some high-end law firm or political office."

He also called out a former Los Angeles Times reporter and another New York tabloid for planting what he called "slanderous" stories about his alleged cooperation with authorities in other investigations. He took aim at the people he claimed were the prosecution's star witnesses, dismissing one as a "self-proclaimed gangbanger" and arguing that prosecutors have "no evidence that supports my involvement in any of this."

His statement also implies that his own team's investigations have allegedly uncovered proof that prosecutors have been overzealous in their investigations, may have acted in ways that were unconstitutional and allegedly dangled indictments in front of individuals who refused to cooperate with their investigation.

"Up to now I don't know what I may be charged with or what crime I've committed," Rosemond said, indicating that other informants have "motioned via hand signal" to him that they were forced to wear secret recording devices in order to implicate him on tape. "Where's the real proof that I have committed these crimes? I just want my fair trial and to not be railroaded as they so eagerly want to do."

A spokesperson for the U.S. States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York could not be reached for comment on Rosemond's allegations at press time.

Taylor Swift's Top MTV News Moments

Posted: 23 May 2011 03:53 AM PDT

Before she premieres 'The Story of Us' on Tuesday, we look back at some of our best times with the singer.

Taylor Swift is set to premiere her new music video for "The Story of Us" on Tuesday when she sits down with MTV News' Sway for "MTV First: Taylor Swift." Until then, we are looking back at some of our favorite moments with the country pop star.

In June 2008, Swift appeared on the MTV special "Once Upon a Prom." During the special, Swift attended prom at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with Whit Wright. Her feelings about having to choose a dress for the big night? "Picking the right dress for prom is pretty critical," she said.

Back in 2008, we got Swift to work for us at the VMA pre-show as our fashion correspondent, where she interviewed some of the biggest names in the business about their sense of style on the red carpet. She also happened to be nominated that night, but it wasn't until the following year that she finally took home a Moonman.

Of the nomination, she said, "I didn't think it was possible. I was so shocked. I started screaming, 'I get to go to the VMAs!' I didn't think I'd get to go to the VMAs. I'm not that cool. As a country artist, I've been pretty unapologetic about it. [But] it's cool to be included."

Later that year, she sat down with MTV News to talk about her album Fearless and revealed she had always wanted to guest-star on "CSI." At the time she shared, "I could be a crook. Hopefully one that's really twisted, that took, like, four episodes to figure out." Months later, the world would learn that she did, in fact, nab a part as a murder victim. Coincidence? We think not!

MTV News was there both times Swift appeared on "Saturday Night Live," first in 2009 when she appeared as the musical guest. Swift made some history at the time as the youngest country artist to occupy the musical-guest spot. "I was just told that [and] I can't believe it," she said. "That never occurred to me — it feels like everything the past couple of months has been a dream."

In 2009, Taylor Swift very famously won the Best Female Video VMA for "You Belong With Me." Since she couldn't properly accept her award the first time around, Beyoncé graciously let the teen star have her moment, letting her take the spotlight at the show. "Maybe we can try this again," Swift said.

"I would really like to thank Roman White, who directed the video, and Lucas Till for being in it," Swift continued. "I would like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone that came out to my shows this summer. And I would like to thank my little brother's high school for letting us shoot there."

Then in 2010, Tim Kash caught up with Swift as she prepared to not only take the stage again as a performer on "SNL," but also to host the show for the first time. "I told all the writers, 'Don't count anything out.' I want to go completely, 100 percent in. I don't want to be halfway involved. Just because I have a lot of things to do as far as being musical guest and host doesn't mean I don't want to live up to my full hosting demands," she said.

Other great Swift interview moments we'll never forget include her sharing what she wanted for her 19th birthday (eyeglasses), revealing her plans for her 21st birthday (winter theme), divulging her admiration for Rihanna's sense of style and, leading up to the release of Speak Now, she even opened up about the track "The Story of Us," explaining that it all started with an awkward encounter with her ex at an awards show.

On Tuesday at 7:53 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com, fans can tune in to see Swift introduce the "Story of Us" video's official premiere and speak with Sway live on-air. Sway and Taylor will then continue their chat for a 30-minute live stream on MTV.com. The singer will answer a few questions from fans too. You can submit questions for Taylor on MTV.com or via Twitter using @MTVNews, hashtag #AskTaylor.

At 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the music video will debut online on MTV.com, VH1.com and MTV's International Sites in 150-plus territories, followed by a premiere on TeenNick at 10:56 p.m. ET. For those who can't wait for the video premiere, a 30-second sneak peek of "The Story of Us" will air during VH1's "Big Morning Buzz Live" on Tuesday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT. The full video will also appear on "VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown" on Saturday, May 28 at 9 a.m. ET/PT.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way: The Reviews Are In!

Posted: 23 May 2011 12:09 AM PDT

'It's a storming collection of high-concept pop brilliance,' says one critic of Mother Monster's brand-new album.
By James Dinh

Little Monsters, the wait is over! After almost a year since Lady Gaga first dished out details about the project, her Born This Way album has finally arrived.

With endorsement deals from Starbucks, Google and Zynga's "FarmVille," Gaga and her team have crafted an over-the-top marketing plan to make sure everyone under the sun knows that the LP has hit stores. As one of the year's most anticipated releases, Born This Way is expected to debut with high sales ranging from 450,000 to 750,000 copies, according to Billboard estimates.

Much like her costumes, performances and everything else that is Lady Gaga, critics have noted (and mostly praised) the immensity of Born This Way, while name-dropping Madonna every other review. For a deeper look at what the press says Mother Monster has to offer on the new album, read on.

Lyrical Content/Themes
"All over Born This Way, she takes on the big topics dear to her heart: sex, religion, muscle cars, her hair. She sings in French, German, Spanish and whatever language wants to claim 'punk-tious.' She seduces men, women, deities and dead presidents. ('Put your hands on me/ John F. Kennedy' — hey, it rhymes.) And in 'Heavy Metal Lover,' Gaga purrs the immortal pickup line 'I want your whiskey mouth/ All over my blond south.' " — Rob Sheffield, Rolling Stone

Production
"Enthrallingly, though, the album never lets up, as her producers chuck entire studios at her fulsome vocals. Many songs here are crafted from radically different tunes all stitched together for an attention-deficit generation: A song may start with an intro from one genre, segue into a verse from another, switchback into a surprise pre-chorus, follow that with a fist-pump major-chord chorus, before inserting a hard-edged clubby middle eight." — Kitty Empire, The Guardian

Choruses
"Choruses seem to be the problem with all of the album's singles so far. And what's a pop song without a good hook? The speed metal-meets-'Bad Romance' knock-off 'Judas' is lyrically more interesting than 'Born This Way,' but its Aqua-esque chorus is too sweet and poppy for a torch song dedicated to one of the Bible's greatest villains. The electro-rock ballad — and accidental third single — 'The Edge of Glory' isn't retro so much as retrograde, starting off with some crafty Art of Noise synth tones before morphing into what sounds like the theme song to an early-'90s sitcom, or an inspirational sports flick, as sung by Bonnie Tyler." — Sal Cinquemani, Slant Magazine

Influences
"The album has abundant echoes of the 1980s: not just Madonna, Lady Gaga's obvious predecessor in many things, but also the heft and piano pounding of '80s heartland rock. Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band plays saxophone on two songs, and for the rafter-raising power ballad 'You and I,' Lady Gaga turned to Mutt Lange, who produced thickly layered tracks for Def Leppard in the 1980s. (Mr. Lange, in turn, brought in Brian May, the guitarist in Queen, the band whose song 'Radio Ga Ga' gave her a name.)" — Jon Pareles, The New York Times

The Last Note
"This is not quite the revolution, and certainly not the greatest album ever made. It's a storming collection of high-concept pop brilliance designed to soundtrack every preposterously tremendous Gaga moment for the next 18 months. If there's a gripe to be had, it's regarding the length: At an hour long, Born This Way initially feels more like an assault than an event, and it could easily lose a couple of tracks. However, if she is planning on releasing nine singles from it, then nobody can come away feeling ripped off." — Ian Wade, BBC Music

Tom Felton Feels 'No Competition' With Dan Radcliffe For 2012 Ghost Movies

'I'm really excited for them both,' Felton says of his 'Apparition' and 'Harry Potter' co-star's 'Woman in Black.'

Tom Felton's "Apparition" was originally slated for a fall 2011 release, but Warner Bros. shifted the debut back to 2012, lining up a bit of a box-office face-off between Felton and his "Harry Potter" pal Daniel Radcliffe.

That's because both actors will have ghost-centric supernatural tales coming out next year. "The Apparition," co-starring Ashley Greene and Sebastian Stan, focuses on a haunting presence conjured up during a college parapsychology experiment. Radcliffe's "Woman in Black," meanwhile, is a dark period piece in which a scorned woman's ghost begins to haunt a small town.

But just because the two friends will have competing supernatural projects opening at the box office in 2012 doesn't mean they'll be competing with each other.

"No competition!" Felton laughed in an MTV News interview. "That's true, they're coming out next year. That could be interesting to see how that turns out. But I'm really excited for them both."

So too, it seems, is Radcliffe, who has already shared footage with Felton. "He actually showed me a trailer on his computer a while ago," Felton said. "It looks awesome. There's lots to look forward to. He's very excited."

Of "Apparition," which Felton previously told us was nothing short of a "dream role," the 23-year-old said, "It was so great for that film to be one of my first outside Hogwarts. Ashley and Sebastian are so talented. I learned so much from them, even though I was shooting for only six weeks. I'm very excited for that."

Check out everything we've got on "The Apparition" and "The Woman in Black."

They say that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but on Sunday night, pop culture lovers everywhere were treated to a festival of debauchery and fun at the Billboard Music Awards, which were held in Sin City and broadcast live on ABC.

There were two kisses that will certainly have people talking for days. When Britney Spears took the stage with Rihanna for their sexy performance of "S&M," the two shared a kiss. Of course, Spears isn't new to onstage girl-on-girl lip-locks, having shared one with Madonna back in 2003. On Sunday, Spears also took the stage with Nicki Minaj, but no spit was swapped during that other girl-power performance.

Perhaps a more surprising kiss occurred when Justin Bieber kissed girlfriend Selena Gomez after it was announced that he won the award for Top New Artist. Although he didn't mention her name in his speech, according to Aceshowbiz.com, Bieber later praised his lady love in the press room, saying, "She's amazing." Bieber took home five other awards Sunday night.

Beyoncé, honored with the Millennium Award, received taped tributes from Bono, First Lady Michelle Obama, The-Dream, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga. As memorable as her performance was thanks to some eye-catching visuals, killer dance moves and that barely there outfit, her shout-out to Jay-Z certainly stood out. "I love me some Jay-Z," she said, after calling him her "best friend."

Bey also thanked those who have been in Destiny's Child, including founding members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams; Rowland and Williams were in the crowd cheering their girl on.

Days after the premiere of the postapocalyptic dance clip for "Run the World (Girls)," Beyoncé fans are now being treated to the recently leaked tune "Till the End of Time." Rumored to be the next single off Beyoncé's new album, 4, which hits stores on June 28, the uptempo track has the pop powerhouse professing her everlasting love.

"Till the End of Time" begins with spitfire drums as Bey's muffled lyric line loops over and over again until a dramatic explosion. "Come take my hand/ I won't let you go/ I'll be your friend/ I will love you so deeply/ I will be the one to kiss you at night/ I will love you till the end of time," she sings atop an airy buildup.

Mrs. Carter continues her appeal, convincing her lover that she is the one who'll be there at the end of every night and, as the song goes, "till the end of time." The song, reminiscent of an older Destiny's Child cut, has Beyoncé keeping the energy level high with marching band-esque drums. Bey also belts over the bridge's horn sequence.

No confirmation yet from Beyoncé's camp as to whether the track will appear on the singer's new LP. The recipient of Billboard's Millennium Award recently revealed that she recorded "more than 60 songs" for the new project, which includes the LP's lead single, "Run the World (Girls)."

MTV News caught up with Bey's longtime choreographer, Frank Gatson Jr., who gave us the scoop on her team's inspiration for the Francis Lawrence-directed video for "Run the World."

"We prepared a lot for it. We had seen something on YouTube; we had seen these three guys from Africa, this Mozambique African dance troupe. ... We were like, 'Wow, this is an amazing movement,' " he said. "And that movement has always been in the back of our heads for the last year. From there, we talked about a lot of concepts."

Keyshia Cole has finally found love, and this past weekend the R&B singer tied the knot with her fiancé Daniel "Boobie" Gibson. On Sunday, Gibson tweeted, "It's OFFICIAL!!!!! #Done & #TrulyBlessed.. Mr. & Mrs. Gibson. We appreciate all the Well Wishes!" Soon after, Keyshia quoted her husband's tweet, adding "...Yeees."

Cole and Gibson, who plays guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, began dating in 2009, and the two eventually became engaged in January 2010. On March 2, 2010, the R&B star gave birth to the couple's son.

While promoting her fourth studio album, Calling All Hearts, Cole spoke to MTV News about the birth of her son, her engagement to Gibson and what effect her family had on her career.

"Having my son didn't really change much, but it definitely gave me a foundation — a stronger foundation, rather, and it made everything make sense in perspective," she said. "Love and making sure I know my focus in life, which is my child and my fiancée and my music and definitely putting God first, foremost before anything."

Keyshia, who made her name with broken-hearted songs like 2005's "I Should've Cheated," gushed about her man and the positive influence he has had on her life. "I wasn't that optimistic about finding love, and I kinda gave up on it, and then when we met, it changed everything," she said. "Obviously, I had a son. So, it's amazing, and I'm very happy and appreciative."

The exact time and place of the wedding is still unknown, but it is believed the couple traded nuptials in Las Vegas. Gibson tweeted multiple photos of himself and his bride on a helicopter with the famous Vegas lights in the background. The groom even poked fun at the weekend's end-of-the-world prophecies, sending out the message, "So the World ain't end. Not Yet.. But a brand new world for me and my family has just Begun! #Blessed Wedding Pics coming 2morro! B E Z."
