What does hard work, undeniable girl power, a sprinkling of sass and, oh yeah, some very memorable music videos get you? Well, if you're Katy Perry, that winning combination gets you the most nominations at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.

"I have nine nominations!" Perry shouted when she heard about her noms from MTV News' Sway during Wednesday's night's (July 20) on-air nominations event. "Nine? I thought that was a typo or something! Oh my god, really? That's the most nominations I've ever gotten for anything," she added excitedly.

Perry was in Seattle when we caught up with her as she took some time off from her busy California Dreams Tour to react to the news of her many VMA nods. So, what exactly is she up for? Perry will be competing for Video of the Year and Best Female Video for "Firework"; Best Pop Video for "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"; and Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects for the Floria Sigismondi-directed "E.T.," which features fellow nominee Kanye West. Her dreamy "Teenage Dream" clip even nabbed a nomination for Best Cinematography.

"I'm so excited. I'm nervous like it's my first time," she said during the MTV.com live stream held backstage, where fans caught a glimpse of the pop star getting ready to take the stage. During the sit-down with Sway, Perry's fellow nominees were announced, and other big VMA contenders include Yeezy, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Adele, Bruno Mars, Britney Spears, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. For a complete rundown of this year's nominees, check out MTV's VMA nominations list.

'Friends With Benefits' Sex Scenes 'Required' Awkwardness

'We were going for laughs, and that breaks the ice a little bit,' Justin Timberlake tells MTV News.

One might think having to get it on with Mila Kunis or Justin Timberlake for a big-screen comedy would be easy. But the "Friends With Benefits" stars insist that there aren't too many benefits to having to get busy with so many eyes on you — unless you're in on the joke, that is.

"These were, in fact, less awkward, because we were required to make them awkward as the characters," Timberlake told MTV News, with onscreen bestie Kunis by his side. "We were going for laughs, and that breaks the ice a little bit, so you don't feel like you're having to portray something a certain way."

"Friends With Benefits" opens Friday and revolves around Kunis' and Timberlake's characters trying to mix friendship and sex without letting their emotions get in the way. It also features an all-star cast with names like Patricia Clarkson, Woody Harrelson, Andy Samberg, Bryan Greenberg and Emma Stone adding their opinions and insights to the potentially fatal friendship idea.

As explained by the twosome, the goofier Timberlake acted about the whole thing, the easier it was for the real-life friends to pretend to get busy with each other. "I basically just jumped around a lot and made Mila laugh as much as I could," he said.

Timberlake even used his skills as a musician to make a potentially uncomfortable scenario less so. "We made up some songs together, mostly about [director] Will [Gluck]," he said.

So how did Gluck feel about those ditties? Well, he didn't really get the chance to hear them because, as Kunis shared, they performed them "behind his back" and she had no plans to perform them again since they are a bit NSFW.

"They can be re-performed, but not on MTV," Timberlake chimed in.

Soul Khan Just Wants Your Acknowledgement

MC opens up about his EP, getting love in NYC and why a white rapper with a booming voice shouldn't shock you.
By Steven Roberts

Fire Starter: Soul Khan
Every MC can rap. Certainly some better than others, but for the most part, anyone calling themselves a rapper can rhyme words to tell a tale in their own unique way. But every once in a while, an MC comes along who's blessed with a booming voice that commands attention. Soul Khan's voice is probably his most distinguishing feature, which is not to take anything away from the former battle rapper's skills, but his deep delivery catches your ear.

"I wish I could say I had something to do with it, but that's all nature," Khan joked to Mixtape Daily. "I decided I wanted to make rap a career after I graduated college," Khan continued. "I mean, with a voice like mine, you could either go into politics, [be] a voice for 'Final Fantasy' characters or you could be a rapper," he laughed.

A native of Los Angeles' West Valley, Khan said he was initially "kind of annoyed" that people were frequently surprised to discover that he was the one spitting after hearing his music. In 2011, a white rapper shouldn't shock people, he thought.

"I've been rapping for, I guess now, 14 years," Khan said. "For a good amount of time, I wasn't very good at it — as I think most people [are not] when they start something. Eventually, [I] developed into a serviceable artist, and I just started rapping because it seemed like the most viable and vital means of communicating with listeners."

Although his style may scream Brooklyn, the L.A. rapper came to New York because he needed a challenge, and the city has embraced him wholeheartedly.

"It's tough to impress people, and if you're willing to go that extra mile, if you're willing to give credit to [New Yorkers'] cynicism and say, 'I'm willing to overpower that,' then when you do, you get love on a scale you couldn't imagine. If you win over a New York crowd, you're the best."

Khan's ready now to take on the rest of the world with the release of his Acknowledgment EP, one of three that he hopes to release this summer in the lead-up to his album, Soul Like Khan. The Acknowledgement EP was produced by DJ Element (who is also Khan's stage DJ), and the rapper described Element's production style as far more lively and uptempo than what he's used to. And that contrast motivated Khan to try something different.

"I made four songs that generally consider the subject of self-worth in some way, whether it was explicitly stated or just the mood, theme," Khan said. "I don't want to say motivation music, 'cause now the word 'motivation' is actually a hip-hop cliché, which is bizarre. But I get tweets and Facebook messages every day from people saying it does sort of give them that renewed purpose I was hoping to achieve."

It's fitting that the leading nominee for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards is Katy Perry, since the California Gurl has had a massive year. Perry nabbed nine nominations for the August 28 awards show, including bids for Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Special Effects and the biggie, Video of the Year, for her smash "Firework" clip.

Close on her heels is another diva who's had a breakout year: British songbird Adele, who rolled up seven nominations for her hit "Rolling in the Deep" from 21, the best-selling album so far of 2011. Among her nominations are Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

It wasn't just about the ladies, though, as Kanye West earned seven nods for his high-concept clips "All of the Lights" and "Power," including Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video and two shots at Best Collaboration for his Rihanna and Kid Cudi hook-up for "Lights" and his cameo in Perry's "E.T."

There was also plenty of love to go around for singer/songwriter Bruno Mars, whose four noms include Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Male Video for "Grenade."

A trio of divas — Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj — were just behind with three VMA nominations each, with Nicki earning Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Female Video bids for "Super Bass," and Gaga and Beyoncé also in contention for the latter for their clips for "Born This Way" and "Run the World (Girls)," respectively. Gaga's other noms are for Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for the controversial "Judas," while B's "Girls" also got noticed in Best Choreography and Best Cinematography.

The #3 all-time VMA award winner, Eminem, picked up three nominations this time for Best Male Video, Best Direction and Best Cinematography for his Rihanna collaboration "Love the Way You Lie."

Among the acts with two nominations are such veterans as the Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars and Pitbull, as well as first-time VMA nominees Tyler, The Creator; Foster the People; and Manchester Orchestra.

Other newbies making the nominee list include Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean for Best Hip-Hop Video and Mumford & Sons for Best Rock Video. For a complete rundown of this year's nominees, check out MTV's VMA nominations list.

Jay-Z And Kanye West Drop 'Otis'

On latest Watch the Throne track, duo trade bars over soul classic 'Try a Little Tenderness.'
By Rob Markman

Otis is back, Otis is back! The King of Soul may have passed 40-plus years ago, but Jay-Z and Kanye West have resurrected Redding's spirit on a new track off their highly anticipated Watch the Throne LP.

On Wednesday (July 20), Hov and 'Ye's "Otis" premiered on New York City DJ Funkmaster Flex's Hot 97 radio show, and then spread throughout the Internet.

"Otis" opens with a slowed-down refrain lifted from Redding's 1966 version of "Try a Little Tenderness." The musical icon wails, "It makes it easier, easier to bare," shortly before the piano sample is chopped and reworked. As the bass line is ushered in and the drums drop, Jay shouts out, "Sounds so soulful, wouldn't you agree?" before tearing into his boastful bars.

"I invented swag, poppin' bottles, puttin' supermodels in a cab," Hov rhymes before going on about his super-exclusive watch collection. Only eight bars pass before Jay tosses the mic to West, who picks up where his Big Brother left off.

"Damn, Yeezy and Hov, where the hell you been/ N---as talkin' real reckless, stuntmen/ I adopted these n---as, Phillip Drummond 'em," 'Ye raps, turning the fictional father from the 1980s sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" into an actual verb.

Another eight bars pass and Jay once again takes over, looking like "wealth" and contemplating calling the paparazzi on himself — he's that rich. But despite the pair's status in rap and their platinum success, this is no pop affair. There is no deep introspection, no intricate instrumentation, just a dusty hip-hop loop and street-bred rhymes. At one point, Jigga even threatens to murder anyone who takes issue with Kanye.

Perhaps West describes it best when he spits about his "sophisticated ignorance," and that's just what Hov exemplifies on his last verse as he seeks political asylum for his murderous rhymes in Cuba. "Welcome to Havana, smoking Cubanos with Castro in cabanas," he raps before volleying back to the Louis Vuitton Don, who channels Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock's 1998 hip-hop classic "Top Billin' " when he delivers, "Jay is chillin', 'Ye is chillin'/ What more can I say? We killin' 'em."

The Watch the Throne rollout has kept fans confused. With an unconfirmed August 1 release date and no certifiable radio hit in sight, fans can only use "Otis" and the previously released "H.A.M." to judge what they might expect from the LP. The latter wasn't very well-received, but if the latest leak is any indication, Jay-Z and Kanye West won't be relinquishing the rap throne any time soon.

What do you think of Jay and Kanye's "Otis"? Sound off in the comments below!

"Do you want to borrow my Sailor Moon costume?" Kunis offered. "Or my Princess Leia dominatrix outfit?"

"Yeah," Timberlake said, considering the idea for a moment. "I might stretch it out a little bit."

Rick Ross has seen his star rise with each release, and for his upcoming album, God Forgives, I Don't, his buddy DJ Khaled promises a classic.

Rozay isn't finished recording and the LP doesn't have a release date yet, but Khaled — whose album We the Best Forever is in stores this week — is already making big predictions.

"God Forgives, I Don't is a classic-in-the-making. Let me tell you something right now: This album is so crazy from the beginning of what I've been in the studio hearing already," he told MTV News on Wednesday (July 20). "I can't give you too much because I'm going to let him do that, because that's his project, but I could tell you right now it's classic and he is talking that talk."

As far as Ross' albums go, it has been a year since his last LP, Teflon Don, was released, but the rotund Miami rapper has kept a high profile, releasing his Maybach Music Group project Self Made, Vol. 1 in May. Compilation singles like "Tupac Back" and "Ima Boss" have kept Ross on the charts, as well as songs on which Ross is featured (Lil Wayne's "John" and Khaled's "I'm On One"), have kept the Miami MC on the airwaves.

Khaled noted his homey's growth, telling us the Bawse gets better with each album. "God Forgives, I Don't, it fits the time because right now it's no rules," Khaled said. "We don't see 'em; we going hard and that's what Ross is doin'."

It looks like the Reggae Sumfest will have to go on without R. Kelly. The singer has just announced that, due to health issues, he will no longer be on the lineup for the Jamaican festival, which began Sunday and will run through the upcoming weekend.

Kelly was scheduled to perform Friday, however he was rushed to the hospital for throat surgery. "R&B superstar R. Kelly will be laid up for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing an emergency procedure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital yesterday to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils," a press release reads.

"Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain," it continues. "Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure. It is not known when the multiplatinum recording star, who just completed the U.S. leg of his worldwide Love Letter Tour, will be able to resume performing."

Kelly was one of the headlining draws for the Montego Bay festival. Other performers slated to take the stage at Reggae Sumfest include Nicki Minaj, Mya, Beenie Man, Elephant Man and a number of other artists from the Caribbean and the U.S.

There has been no word on whether Kelly, who was to perform during one of the international nights, will be replaced. Kelly has no other upcoming shows scheduled.

Fans weigh in on what they think caused the couple to split and where J.Lo will go from here.
By Jocelyn Vena

NEW YORK — The world is still reacting to and hypothesizing about the split between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, her husband of seven years. While her recent music may have hinted at the split, only the two of them really know what happened. MTV News took to Times Square to see what some of Lopez's fans have to say about what's next now that she's back on the singles scene, and they proposed their ideas about what may have gone wrong between the two.

"I don't know, maybe they are not compatible. They weren't a match for each other," Naoko said. "I don't know why they started a relationship at the beginning. I don't know, but things happen and now they broke up."

Since the couple is still planning on shooting their forthcoming reality series "Q'Viva!" fans think they'll be able to keep it professional and make it work. Giulliana said simply, "They can be friends."

Whitney explained that "probably just differences, marriage issues" contributed to the breakup, adding, "I think they might be able [to spend time together] just because of the show, but it might be a little harder."

"We were shocked at first, and then I was like, 'Oh, she split again.' Wasn't she married a couple times before?" Emily wondered. "I think they will work together, being that they have two children together."

The news was so big that even entire families began calling each other about it. "Well, actually my grandmother called me from Miami, Florida, and [told me] to call my sister. I called my sister up and she was like, 'I was about to call you and tell you that,' " Leo recalled of the news.

And what does Leo think J.Lo is looking for in her next guy? "Somebody with more money," he said. "I think Jennifer Lopez is ready for the next one and is ready to be single again. She'll probably move on to a new career now and somebody that will bring her to a new standard of movies, television."

Swedish DJ/producer promises to drop brand-new music at Belgian dance-music festival, featuring David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and more.

One of Europe's biggest dance-music events is just two days away, and already the Tomorrowland Festival in Boom, Belgium, falls in line with global powerhouses like Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and New York City's Electric Zoo.

What sets Tomorrowland apart is its fairytale theme, with stages and tents that seem to be taken right out of "Alice in Wonderland." It's also an occasion for the biggest dance-music stars in the world to rock tens of thousands of attendees with big tunes and yet-unreleased monsters-in-the-making.

"I've never been," Swedish DJ/producer Avicii told MTV via Skype. "It's a completely different world, and I've been told to expect a sh--load of people! I've seen videos from [David] Guetta last year, when the whole crowd is moving as one. It's so f---ing rad!"

With a roster featuring almost every major dance-music brand, the crowd this year will no doubt be enormous. Swedish House Mafia, Kaskade, Dirty South, Tiësto, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Martin Solveig, Wolfgang Gartner, Laidback Luke and Guetta are just a few of the artists who will be spread across a dozen performance areas at the weekend festival.

And as we can attest, most electronic dance music artists are definitely "bros" — global touring buddies and collaborators rarely in the same place at the same time. And for Avicii (real name: Tim Berg), he's already looking forward to seeing one old friend in particular at Tomorrowland.

"Tiësto," Avicii exclaimed. "I really miss him. Last year we used to meet almost every week, because we did shows together. I would play for him at Privilege [in Ibiza, Spain]. And this year it feels like we are missing each other, everywhere we go. It will be cool to catch up with him."

Will his fitting hit song from last year, "Bromance," make it into his set? Well, Avicii has promised a few surprise treats for the audience in Belgium. "I'm probably gonna drop around four new songs and three of them I've never played before — both originals and remixes."

The Tomorrowland Festival takes place this weekend in Boom, Belgium. Avicii will hit the main stage Saturday at 7 p.m.

MTV News will be attending Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium! Check back with us next week for a show report and interviews with your favorite dance-music stars.

Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi has already mastered music. Next up: acting. According to his "How to Make It in America" co-stars Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk, fans will see Cudi's onscreen growth in season two of the HBO series.

"He has his head on straight. He really saw what an amazing opportunity this was," Greenberg told MTV News on the set of "How to Make It." "My hat goes off to him because he is fully focused, and they wrote a lot more for him this season."

Cudi, who plays party guy Domingo in the New York-based series, had a limited role in the first season, but Rasuk promises fans they will see more of the lonely stoner when the show returns to HBO this fall. "Definitely, for sure, Kid Cudi stepped up on season two on all different levels," he said. "He definitely has a lot more, and his character is involved a lot more."

Though he has given Mescudi acting advice, Greenberg takes no credit for the work the G.O.O.D. Music artist has put in, and Greenberg, who has a musical side himself, picked up quite a bit from Cudi in the studio. "I learned from him on the music tip when he came in and did that track for me, 'You Can Run.' It was on my record," Greenberg said of the song that appeared on his 2011 album, We Don't Have Forever. "It was just amazing because I thought he was going to come in and rap, and he just came in and started singing, and I was like, 'OK.' And then I heard it back, and I'm like, 'Awesome.' "

Fans of the show shouldn't expect Cudi's musical influence to rub off on Rasuk, however. "I'm a fan. I have no music," he said. "I can dance though."

Lady Gaga And Bette Midler: A Real Mermaid Weighs In!

Posted: 19 Jul 2011 10:18 PM PDT

MTV News goes straight to the source to discuss recent pop-culture mermaid trends and beefs.
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga
Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images

Beyoncé declared her love for mermaids during her MTV special "The Year of 4," while Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Bette Midler have all dressed up like the mythical sea creatures onstage or in videos. Madonna has surrounded herself with mermen during a past tour, and mermaids also show up in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and in several new novels, including a forthcoming book by "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Florida is famous for its mermaid shows, so MTV News decided to go right to the source and get a real-deal mermaid on the phone. It's no surprise that "mermaid" Carli Goodworth told us it's officially the Year of the Mermaid.

"It used to be really popular, like, 60 years ago and everybody was all about mermaids, and now today, it's coming back again," Goodworth told MTV News. "The stars are starting to use it, and the people from outside are loving it, and hopefully it'll draw more people to our attraction as well."

So why are pop stars taking on mermaid alter egos? Goodworth said the public persona of mermaids has shifted from the cute and cuddly Disney version to the more accurate version of mermaids who are mysterious, dangerous and sexy.

And the mermaid trend hasn't been free from controversy: There has already been beef between fans of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, accusing the pop stars of lifting the idea, and then between Lady Gaga and Bette Midler, who did the mermaid-in-a-wheelchair routine decades before Gaga did.

"It's becoming so popular," Goodworth laughed about the mermaid beefs. "I think it's awesome. We're used to the few people around here, because we are known as the mermaid country, and it's neat to see all these other people battling it out to be the only mermaid. It's just different."

Being that Goodworth has performed as a mermaid for quite some time now, she's happy to see other people getting excited about it. "We love mermaids, so it's fun to see other people doing stuff with mermaids besides us," she said, adding her advice: "Be creative, do your own thing, really do your research."

NEW YORK — Ryan Gosling may have an Oscar nomination to his name, but the leading man didn't have to strain his acting muscles too much to portray a man enamored of Emma Stone in the upcoming romantic comedy, "Crazy, Stupid, Love."

When we caught up with the 30-year-old at the movie's New York premiere Tuesday night, he was more than happy to dole out accolades for his co-star. "She's everything, all the time," he said. "There's no one like her. As soon as she signed on for this movie, I knew it was going to be good."

In the film, which hits theaters July 29, Gosling plays lothario Jacob, a love-averse playboy who takes Steve Carell's Cal under his wing to teach him the ways of a skilled pickup artist. Yet, in the end, Jacob himself unwittingly finds love with Stone's Hannah — a role Gosling said was perfectly cast.

"The whole film depends on my character giving it all up for her," he said. "When she came in the room, it all made sense. Show me someone that wouldn't give it all up for Emma Stone, and I'll show you a liar."

The admiration, however, certainly wasn't one-sided. Stone, who stars alongside both Gosling and Justin Timberlake ("Friends With Benefits") this month, had a hard time wrapping her head around her collection of amazing co-stars.

"It's pretty wild, isn't it?" she said. "It's not too shabby. Those Mickey Mouse Clubbers, I'm going to take them by storm."

Pals Justin Bieber and Chris Brown were spotted heading into a studio together on Monday. According to Rap-Up.com, the singers met up at the Record Plant in Hollywood.

"Studio. #NEWMUSIC," Bieber tweeted early Tuesday morning, leading us to believe the session was for his next album.

Previously Bieber told MTV News that he wanted to focus less on features for his next album, but given the fact that Brown recently wrote a track for Joe Jonas, it's possible he may have just been assisting with some writing.

The rumored session marks the latest collaboration for the pair, who have appeared on two tracks together in the past. First, they remixed Bieber's slow jam "Up," then Bieber jumped on Brown's ballad "Next to You."

Bieber's producer, Danja, told Rap-Up.com that he's aiming for an "edgier" sound for the 17-year-old's next release. "What I'm creating for him I think is definitely a more mature sound. That's where he's headed now," he explained.

Earlier this year, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, revealed some other names the pop star hopes to get into the studio with, including Drake, a collaboration Bieber hinted at last year.

Bieber is also reportedly working with Kanye West. "Him and Kanye [West] had a call today about a song they're trying to work on together," Braun said. "Kanye wants to produce a bunch of songs for the new album."

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony To Reunite Saturday In Cleveland

Things haven't been harmonious with Bone Thugs lately. In April, Krayzie Bone announced that he was leaving Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, but after three short months, Kray, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone will reunite onstage at the Ohio Homecoming concert on Saturday.

The concert, which will also feature Drake and local Ohio artists such as Stalley and Ray Cash, will double as a celebration of Cleveland's 215th birthday.

"They ain't seen us, all five, since Flesh came out [of prison in 2008]," Bizzy Bone told MTV News. "We ain't been able to really put on a showcase for 'em, and this is a beautiful platform. It's gonna be thousands and thousands and thousands of people there, and it's Cleveland's birthday."

Bone Thugs got their start in 1994 with the EP Creepin on ah Come Up and became certified stars with their multiplatinum 1995 single "Tha Crossroads." Through the years, however, the Cleveland group has experienced its fair share of ups and downs. First, there was Flesh-n-Bone's incarceration in 2000, then Bizzy left the group during the promotional tour for the quintet's BTNHResurrection album.

To the casual fan, it might seem as if Krayzie's recent departure is just another chapter in the group's tumultuous history. Layzie, however, downplayed the drama. "I can kind of understand with recent activity and everything why they would probably think that we wouldn't come together for something so big like 215 years — Cleveland's birthday," he said. "Over the years, we proved ourselves. OK, we break up to make up, but we proved to be a family that comes together throughout anything."

So, will the upcoming show bring Bone Thugs back together for good? Wish Bone wouldn't say, but did share that he thinks BTNH's status has been blown out of proportion. "We're not just band members that were put together: We're real family," Wish said. "It's a shame that sometimes we go through things like anybody else but by us being in the public eye, it gets magnified about a million times. It makes it worse than it really is, but that's part of the game ... No matter what, we're going to come together for something that's very important to us."

Blake Shelton was already a beloved country star before he became a reality-TV double-threat. But thanks in part to his breakout role on "The Voice," Miranda Lambert's better half is reaping plenty of benefits, including a #1 debut on the Billboard 200 charts next week for his new album, Red River Blue.

According to figures provided by SoundScan, Shelton's sixth studio album, his first #1 debut ever and highest-charting album to date, sold 116,000 copies last week. Just behind was the first album in five years from floaty rockers Incubus with If Not Now, When, which debuts at #2 on sales of 80,000. They lead a parade of new faces in the top 10 that also includes country singer Chris Young, whose Neon hit #4 in its first week (73,000), pop smoothie Colbie Caillat's All of You (#6, 66,000), head-bangers Theory of a Deadman's Truth Is (#8, 38,000) and the debut from the rebooted Sublime with new singer Rome, Yours Truly (#9, 35,000).

The rest of the top 10: Adele's 21 (#3, 77,000), Beyoncé's 4 (#5, 72,000), Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party (#7, 42,000) and Selena Gomez and the Scene's When the Sun Goes Down (#10, 33,000).

A couple of former top 10 dwellers fall to the second rung, including Eminem's Hell: The Sequel project under the Bad Meets Evil banner (#11, 30,000), Lady Gaga's Born This Way (down five to #13, 25,000) and Jill Scott's Light of the Sun (#14, 21,000).

The soundtrack to "Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows, Part 2" comes in at #25, while indie darlings Washed Out crash in at #26 with the excellent Within & Without (#26, 15,000). And it was a short trip to the top 10 for R&B crooner Lloyd, who plummets 39 spots to #49 in the second week for King of Hearts (9,000).

Over on the iTunes chart Caillat sits atop the album tally, followed by Shelton, Incubus, Adele, Sublime, Chris Young, Theory of a Deadman, Beyoncé, Bad Meets Evil and the unstoppable Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More.

LMFAO continue to rule the iTunes singles chart with their summer hit "Party Rock Anthem," which beats out Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper," Katy Perry's "Last Friday (T.G.I.F.)," Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight." Rounding out the top 10 at #6 are Lil Wayne's "How to Love," Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," OneRepublic's "Good Life" and Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem."

Things should be fairly static next week, with the only new titles including a new Kidz Bop Kids title and albums from 311, 3 Doors Down and DJ Khaled.
