Last month, Paramore roared back to life with "Monster," the first song they've released since the rather acrimonious departure of founding members Josh and Zac Farro in December.

In the track, Hayley Williams seemed to be singing about nothing but the Farros (Josh in particular) and how Paramore are pushing on without them. But if the song is about the interpersonal relationships that cause a band to fall apart (and subsequently come back together again), well, then the video — which just premiered on MTV.com — seems to be about the band itself. Or, more specifically, the band as a sort of machine, one that never stops running and seems designed to continually churn through members. In this case, it is the Monster. And it must be fed.

Or something like that. Because the "Monster" video is one gigantic Möbius strip, an unending loop that begins and ends in the exact same spot. We follow the band as they make their way through a damaged hospital (a setup that recalls the opening of "28 Days Later"), constantly tormented and threatened by the gnashing and wailing of another version of Paramore, this one trapped inside a room, trying desperately to escape. Their attempts — thrashing against walls, pounding on floorboards — cause the hospital to heave and sway and funnels Williams, guitarist Taylor York and bassist Jeremy Davis down a dark corridor, around a corner and, eventually, directly into the room where their former selves were trapped. Only now, the room is empty, except for a microphone and some instruments. As the video comes to a close, we are left to wonder if the whole scenario is about to play out once again.

It seems as if the video is hinting at the fact that bands are, by their very nature, set up to fail, that regardless of how closely knit its members are, eventually, due to distance and stress and all matters of maladies, things begin to break down and that the cycle will play itself out ad infinitum. It's not exactly the most uplifting plot, but it's certainly an honest portrayal of the inner-workings of the music machine.

Then again, perhaps I'm just reading too much into things. Maybe what we don't see is Paramore breaking the cycle, but I don't think so. After all, since the split with the Farros, Paramore have been nothing if not honest about their individual shortcomings and the pressures they faced. And, with "Monster," they seem to be taking that openness to new levels: They may have made it through one calamity, but surely, there will be another one lurking around the corner.

It's going to be a hot summer. Just ask G.O.O.D. Music recording artist Big Sean, whose first album, Finally Famous, debuted at #3 on the Billboard albums chart after it dropped in June. Now Sean is setting things off as the first of MTV Jams' 2011 Fab 5.

Conceived in 2005 on MTV Jams, the Fab 5 is a collection of the most outstanding new hip-hop artists of the year who have made a visual impact on the road to releasing their debut albums. Fab 5 alumni include Juelz Santana, Tony Yayo, Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Kid Cudi and Drake. This year MTV Jams, MTV News and Sucker Free will bring you 2011's hottest new hip-hop upstarts, and Big Sean is up first!

In the past year, Sean has emerged from being a G.O.O.D. Music understudy to one of the main stars on Kanye West's squad. With his playful flow and witty lyrics, Sean proved this year that he can make hit records when he snagged the #1 spot on Billboard's rap singles chart with "My Last" featuring Chris Brown. He also just shot the video for his next single, "Marvin & Chardonnay." The K. West and Roscoe Dash-assisted track is poised to pick up where his last hit left off.

But who is Big Sean exactly? In his own words:

"Big Sean is a Detroit player, a dreamer. Somebody who went against the grain who realized following your heart is way more important than following your head. And somebody who when I look back on life, I don't have to say, 'I wish I coulda, woulda, shoulda did anything.' "

The pint-sized MC got his moniker because of a 6'8" friend who had the same name. "His name was Sean too, so they called me Big Sean and him Little Sean, just to be funny," he said. "It's way fresher for me to be little and people have to call me big."

Since rolling with Team Kanye, things have only gotten bigger, and the fame has brought about some strange occurrences for Sean, especially on Twitter. He recalled a time when someone posted a childhood picture, lifted from his grandmother's house, on the social networking site. "I'm like, 'How the hell did you get this picture?' " he said. "The Internet is powerful; it's crazy."

Wise words indeed. Sean also reveals that if he were down to his last $10, he'd splurge on ... who else but himself? "I would spend it on the best album in the world: Finally Famous." That he is!

Check back here every Monday for the next four weeks to find out who will join Big Sean in the Fab 5. And tune in to "RapFix Live," where each artist will be highlighted.

'Harry Potter' Star Rupert Grint: What's Next?

'I'm not sure I'm going to miss it,' actor tells MTV News of 'Potter.'

Rupert Grint has always been the comic relief when it comes to the Big Three actors in "Harry Potter," but with the final film opening in theaters Friday (July 15), he is ready to spread his wings and try out some new projects.

"Anything really different, really," Grint replied when MTV News asked him what his plans are next. "Playing the same character for 10 years really does give you this thirst for new things. I'm not sure I'm going to miss it. I am looking forward to this kind of newfound freedom. Just see where it takes me."

He certainly seems to be trying to get away from "Potter" as much as possible. Grint's next project is his anti-war film "Comrade," which began filming March 28 in Norway. Directed by Petter Næss and costarring David Kross, Florian Lukas and Stig Henrik Hoff, the movie tells the story of English and German pilots who are forced to work together to survive the brutal Norwegian winter; it is a very far cry from anything Grint has done in "Potter."

After that, his next project is looking more and more likely to be "Eddie the Eagle," a biopic about British skier Eddie Edwards, the first competitor to represent the U.K. in Olympic ski jumping. Though it still doesn't have a writer or director attached, Grint is optimistic that production will get under way soon.

"It's a story that I really like and it's still in the working yet. I still have faith that it will happen," he told MTV News. "It's been in kind of development for a while, but yeah, hopefully it will come up."

Of all the "Potter" stars, Grint has been the one to have the most big-screen experience. In 2002 he starred in the children's comedy "Thunderpants," then followed it up with 2006's dramedy "Driving Lessons." Somehow he managed to find time over the past few years during his busy "Potter" shooting schedule to squeeze out two 2010 releases as well: "Cherrybomb" and "Wild Target."

And the fans respect him for it. When MTV's Next Movie site ran a recent poll asking readers who they thought would be the most successful "Potter" star, Grint won by a whopping 43 percent. If that doesn't work out, though, he always has a side career as an ice cream man.

'True Blood' Star Joe Manganiello Talks Wolves, Nudity

Filming Sunday's episode was comfortable considering 'we're naked with a wild animal,' actor tells MTV News.

One of the many reasons to love HBO's racy Southern vampy soap "True Blood" is for the many ways in which the show's characters find themselves in uncomfortable situations. Naked.

Case in point: the wonderfully entertaining scene from Sunday night's new episode in which Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is put in the middle of a confrontation between two naked men, currently confused vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and brawny werewolf Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello). MTV News was lucky enough to consult Manganiello for his thoughts on the nuts and bolts (no pun intended) behind the filming of that scene.

"The showdown between Alcide and Eric takes place in the lake. Eric has drunk some fairy blood so he can be in the sunlight. Sookie has to enlist Alcide's help to go track him down so he has to transform into a wolf and go sniff him out," he explained. "Basically it's Alcide and Eric both naked, screaming at each other at the top of their lungs with Sookie in the middle."

Manganiello added that the whole being naked thing isn't nearly as interesting as working with live wolves on set.

"Anytime the wolves come out it's always a little wild," Manganiello admitted. "Alex and I were both naked, him in the water, me not, yelling. There's a wolf near us, Anna's in the middle. We shot it on Valentine's Day, so there were a lot of 'Happy Valentine's Day' jokes going on with Anna. It was a lot of fun," he said. "Alex is a really funny guy, so is Anna. It's also funny to watch Anna interact with the wolves. I think it's hilarious."

So we guess they're all comfortable hanging out naked on set? "Yeah, as comfortable as we can be, seeing how we're naked with a giant body of water and a wild animal."
