After 7.4 million votes cast and over three weeks of intense, head-to-head wizard combat action in MTV's "Harry Potter" World Cup, conflicted, calculating and beloved antihero Severus Snape has emerged a champion.

It is an impressive feat indeed, with Snape having overcome heavy hitters and fan favorites Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Harry Potter himself. MTV News was lucky enough to present the fancy World Cup trophy to Alan Rickman, the man responsible for bringing life and suspense to the complex character, at Monday's New York premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

"You're lying, aren't you?" Rickman said upon learning the news of Snape's victory. "I gotta get this on the plane tomorrow?" he joked. "Well, thank you, and it doesn't weigh nothing," he added, commenting on the prize's weight. "Is it chocolate, I hope? Thank you very much."

When asked what the victory means to him, Rickman took it seriously and further thanked the character's fans for recognizing the many aspects of Snape's magical journey.

"It's a vote for ambiguity and things where you don't quite know how they're going to turn out," he said of Snape's is-he-evil-or-good story line. "And also, it's [Snape's] values that you can't talk about without ruining the film, but things like courage and determination and loyalty and love, actually."

"Thank you," Rickman reiterated before heading into the premiere. "I appreciate it; that's an American thing."

Rupert Grint, whose Ron Weasley was our second-place finisher, was not surprised to learn that Snape triumphed over his character. In fact, he had predicted it.

"I knew it," he said with a smile when we broke the news to him. "It's the right choice," he admitted.

In the midst of a mass of screaming fans, many of whom had camped out overnight, the beloved cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" walked a lengthy red carpet at their final film's premiere on a rather hot and steamy night in New York City.

MTV News was right in the middle of the action, catching up with the billion-dollar franchise's brightest stars. Aside from commentary about the heat and humidity on the star-studded red carpet, a lot of chatter centered on the bittersweet end of the "Potter" road — and, more importantly, what each castmember might be up to next.

During our live-stream coverage, when we chatted with Emma Watson — who we most recently caught up with in the middle of filming an epic dance-party scene on the set of her next film, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" — we asked the lovely lady if dancing might again be on her mind later in the evening.

"Yes!" she exclaimed. "I'm like, 'Get me to that dance floor,' that is exactly what I need right now," she said, hinting that she'll be getting down at the afterparty.

And what will she be up to tomorrow? How will she relax and wind down now that everything "Potter" is complete?

"I'm usually working and going on to the next thing, but it really is over now, so I don't know," she admitted. "I think I'll go and have a really big brunch. A really big brunch, and sleep and reflect on the whole thing."

Mary J. Blige 'Reaching In Deep' For My Life Sequel

Posted: 11 Jul 2011 05:57 AM PDT

'We want to live,' Blige tells MTV News about My Life Too: The Journey Continues, due in October.

Mary J. Blige was a troubled 23-year-old when she dropped her classic My Life album. On the surface, she was "ghetto fabulous" — draped in high-priced, '90s-era DKNY duds and oversize Versace glasses — but beneath the veneer, the Queen of hip-hop soul was broken, abusing drugs and swept up in one bad romance after another.

Being too young and too raw to tell anything but the truth, the girl from the Schlobohm housing projects in Yonkers, New York, poured all that turmoil into her sophomore album and then watched as tracks like "Be Happy" and "I'm Going Down" slow-strutted up the charts to the tune of more than 3 million albums sold. Now, 16 years (and several Grammys and platinum plaques) later, MJB plans to revisit her enduring second disc with the release of My Life Too: The Journey Continues, due in October.

"It's called The Journey Continues because on the first My Life album, we all just were depressed and wanted to die. This one, we want to live, and we understand with living, life still comes with challenges and triumphs and good times and bad times," Blige told MTV News at the Essence Music Festival earlier this month, where she was not only honored for her charitable work at the McDonald's 365Black Awards but also closed out the New Orleans fest.

Among the beatmakers Blige has tapped to work on the sequel is Swizz Beatz, and she teased what fans can expect to hear. "There's ballads, there's midtempos, uptempos. There's love songs, there's pain songs. There's triumph songs, there's workout songs. There's all kinda stuff!" she laughed. "This one is definitely what people are looking for from me, and I'm digging and I'm reaching in deep to give them what they need."

Blige is well aware of the My Life legacy, how fans connected to her slow-drip brand of blues. The singer even complained in '08 that many of her followers didn't want her to be happy, preferring the dark tunes she cooked up while depressed to her newer love songs. So, Mary's aiming to strike a balance this fall.

"I just wanna express again, not just my own, but just people's lives around me and just celebrate it, but celebrate it in a way — not that we don't have, 'OK, sister, let me get you through this' [songs or], 'OK, here's what I'm dealing with,' " she explained. "And that's basically what that record is about. But I want to get it right, so my fans can be happy."

Pitbull 'Transitions' But Still Gets Respect From Hip-Hop

'I've been on tracks with the best,' Pit tells MTV News of his evolution to global MC.
By Rob Markman

Pitbull has made major moves throughout his seven-year career. Getting his start under the tutelage of Luther Campbell (a.k.a. Luke) and influenced by Miami booty bass, Pitbull got his big break in 2004 with the Lil Jon-assisted single "Culo." But while his musical origins may have been rooted in bass music and the crunk movement of the early-2000s, Pitbull has grown into a rapper with mass appeal.

His first album, M.I.A.M.I. (Money is a Major Issue), was dedicated to his hometown and exemplified his local accessibility but his latest, Planet Pit, exemplifies his worldwide reach.

"I think from M.I.A.M.I. to Planet Pit, how it transitions, what it shows is maturity, growth, evolution, someone that's been learning, applying, observing," Pit told MTV News last week while he was in Orlando performing at a Zumba fitness convention.

Planet Pit features the rapper's Zumba-inspired single "Pause,' and has already given Pit his first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Give Me Everything." The album's sound isn't rooted in the block, as were earlier songs like "Rain Over Me" featuring salsa great Marc Anthony and the Chris Brown-laced "International Love." Instead, his latest aims to break global boundaries. But while Pit's music may not be as hip-hop-oriented these days, the Cuban-American hit-maker said he still gets his respect.

"As far as getting acceptance from hip-hop, does it bother me? In no way shape or form," he said when asked how it feels move beyond the rap community. "I've been on tracks with the best or what they consider the best. I've been on tracks with Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe. ... On those tracks, I think I definitely held my own and everybody respects me for the simple fact that I've created my own lane."

In 2006, Pit laid his rapid-fire rhymes on DJ Khaled's "Holla at Me," alongside Wayne, Ross, Fat Joe and Paul Wall; he also rhymed with Ross and Trick Daddy on the Miami-ode "Born-n-Raised" that same year. Since then, the Miami rapper has expanded his repertoire, collaborating with Usher ("DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love") and Jennifer Lopez ("On the Floor"), as well as producers like RedOne and Afrojack. Pit's musical growth has given him a bigger platform, but also something else far more invaluable.

"Instead of speaking to the block, I rather speak to the globe so the block can go, 'Oh wait a second, there is a whole lot more out there,' " Pit explained. "And that's where the respect and credibility comes into play. You can't buy that and no record can buy that."

What do you think of Pit's latest album? Share your reviews in the comments!

When 50 Cent was infamously shot nine times in May 2000, his violent reality was just too much for his first label, Columbia Records, so they dropped him. This past June, G-Unit's newest signee Kidd Kidd was shot six times in his native New Orleans, but instead of backing out of the deal, it drew 50 closer to the youngster.

"Them boys down in New Orleans, they're active," 50 told MTV News. "It's a lot goin' on down there, and because I experienced it, I didn't move away from it. I actually ID'd with the situation a little more. He got hit six times, he got a bag on now," 50 said as Kidd Kidd lifted his shirt to reveal a colostomy bag on the set of Tony Yayo's "Haters" video.

"Columbia, when that situation took place with me, they walked away from me just because they're not familiar with the actual environment and what happens at different points," he continued. "It don't make me no difference: I understand it."

Kidd got his start as a part of Lil Wayne's Young Money camp and even appeared as a guest on Tha Carter III single "Mrs. Officer." Now that he is with G-Unit, the NOLA spitter has since collaborated with Fif on his own single "Better Walk" as well as the title track of 50's upcoming album.

"It's a blessing getting down with Fif. It's real, it's all love," Kidd said. "There ain't too many real people in the industry, period. I've been around a lot, and right now it's time. I never felt like this before."

Complicated professor takes down Harry's best friend Ron Weasley for the title of greatest 'Potter' character ever.

Sixty-four contestants. Four weeks. More than 7 million votes. And now just one wizard is left standing: Potions master Severus Snape has won MTV News' "Harry Potter" World Cup!

As announced during our live stream of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" red-carpet premiere in New York City, Snape bested Ron Weasley to earn the fan-voted title of the greatest character ever in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series.

And it wasn't even close. Coming off an extraordinary two-match run, in which he smacked down Harry Potter himself and then stormed past Hermione Granger, Snape shot out to an early lead over Weasley and never looked back. Poor Ron — who eked out a hard-fought victory in round three over his brother Fred and barely squeaked past wizard Sirius Black — never really had a chance. He may have been the last of the Big Three to stay alive in the Cup, an impressive achievement in its own right, but there was nothing he could do when facing, in Snape, a character on a sizzling winning streak and possessing perhaps the franchise's most complex, satisfying arc.

Snape began the tournament as a dangerous #2 seed in the Privet Drive bracket. He wasted no time absolutely embarrassing Death Eater spawn Vincent Crabbe, walking away with nearly 98 percent of the vote. From there, he wiped the floor with Professor Flitwick and ran over fan favorite Dobby the House Elf. Even Harry Potter himself presented little challenge for Snape, who seemingly could have sleepwalked through his face-off with the boy wizard and still come out on top. That was some seriously impressive stuff. But he didn't stop there, going on to best Hermione in the Final Four with almost 63 percent of the vote.

So let us all applaud Severus Snape for his epic run and staggering victory in the one-and-only "Harry Potter" World Cup. But while we're at it, we must applaud everyone who voted (and voted and voted and voted) in the tournament. The fan response to the event was far greater than we could have ever hoped. You guys took on the challenge with gusto and dedication — voting and commenting, tweeting and Facebook updating, campaigning and protesting and celebrating. In the end, your favorite character might not have won, but no one can dispute the singular, staggering popularity of "Harry Potter."

Lil Wayne's Carter IV 'Totally Done'

MC also tells MTV News that hit 'How to Love' was inspired by Tupac's ladies' anthem 'Keep Ya Head Up.'

Tunechi's back and Tha Carter IV is done! During an interview with MTV News last week, Lil Wayne confirmed that the recording of the highly anticipated fourth installment of his Tha Carter series is finished and will drop at the end of August, a day after the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards air live on August 28.

"The album is done and it'll be out August 29. It's totally done," Wayne told us.

While the MC's upcoming mixtape, Sorry for the Wait, will no doubt feature Wayne spewing rapid-fire rap over concussive beats, judging by the latest Carter IV single, the album will offer even more diversity. According to Wayne, the acoustic-flavored, sing-songy "How to Love" was actually inspired by Tupac Shakur.

"That song is just sweeping the world. It's touching every woman, that's what it was for," Wayne said. "It was like Tupac had 'Keep Ya Head Up' and it was a message to women and little girls across the world just to keep your head up even though things are hard. That's what my song was."

'Pac's 1993 song became one of his biggest hits. On it, Shakur rapped about the plight of single mothers and battered women. For "How to Love," Weezy also lends a sympathetic ear. "A lot of women don't know how to love because there's deep reasons for them not knowing how to love," he explained. "And what I mean by deep reasons is deep and dark reasons. A lot of people don't open up that can and I figured that I can open up that can of worms and see what happens."

How do you think Wayne's "How to Love" compares to Tupac's "Keep Ya Head Up"? Sound off in the comments!

Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd was arraigned Monday (July 11) in a Massachusetts court, one day after he was arrested for allegedly robbing a Walgreens pharmacy just hours before his band was set to open a show for Soundgarden.

Todd appeared in Attleboro District Court, where the charges against him — armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics — were officially read. Judge Daniel O'Shea also increased Todd's bail from $10,000 to $25,000 cash, citing the musician's out-of-state addresses and past record, which includes a previous conviction for drug possession and an arrest for reckless driving.

According to Attleboro's Sun Chronicle, assistant district attorney Mark Donovan requested Todd's bail be raised to $100,000 cash, but local attorney Sandra Ferreira, who represented Todd at the bail hearing, pleaded that the amount remain at $10,000, arguing that he lives in New York state with his parents, has relatives in Cape Cod and would appear in court as required. Attleboro police said he had originally given them an Anaheim, California, address for his primary residence.

Todd is being held on the $25,000 bond and is due back in court to answer the charges against him on August 9. Messages left for Ferreira were not responded to by press time.

Todd was arrested Sunday afternoon allegedly entering a Walgreens, showing a pharmacist a BlackBerry note that said he had a bomb and demanding OxyContin. He was given six bottles of the prescription painkiller and hopped into a cab bound for the Comcast Center in nearby Mansfield, Massachusetts, where Coheed and Cambria were set to open for reunited grunge gods Soundgarden. He was then taken into custody after being identified by the cab driver and the pharmacist via security-camera footage taken from inside the store.

Coheed played their Sunday night set with multi-instrumentalist Wes Styles filling in for Todd on bass, and later wrote on their website that they planned to continue the tour without him.

'Harry Potter' Kissing Scene 'Tricky' For Rupert Grint

While fans have long been waiting for Ron and Hermione to lock lips in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have said that it was not so much fun to film the highly anticipated scene. And, according to Grint, it was not any easier watching said kiss on the big screen — "especially in 3-D."

MTV News caught up with the "Harry Potter" star over the weekend, and he seemed to find it just as difficult discussing the scene now as he and Watson did after they filmed it in 2009. In fact, Grint couldn't even remember how many takes of the kiss they had to go through before director David Yates finally yelled, "Cut!"

"I have no memory of that day. I've kind of erased it," Grint said. "I think it was about four."

After seven films of buildup, Grint's Ron Weasley and Watson's Hermione Granger finally culminate the romance that has been budding since their characters first met inside the Hogwarts Express. But as Hermione and Ron grew to love one another romantically, Watson and Grint became more like brother and sister, making the snogging scene all the weirder for them.

"It was a tricky one, because it had to be believable. We had to look like we wanted to do it, when in reality we really didn't," Grint said. "We were soaking [in the scene], and that kind of made it a little bit easier, I think, because it was kind of this outburst of adrenaline."

When MTV News chatted with Watson about the kiss back in 2009, she echoed similar uncomfortable sentiments. In fact, she said she was so nervous during the first take of the kiss that she ended up pouncing on Grint in order to get the scene over with.

"The only good side to it was the fact that we were both in the same boat," Watson said. "We were both just like, 'Oh my God, I can't believe we have to do this. This is so awkward. Really awkward.' So I could take comfort in the fact that Rupert felt the same way. We were both giggling. We were like 12-year-olds. We were like giggling children, where you just couldn't keep it together."

Headliner: Future

Representing: Atlanta

Mixtape: True Story

Real Spit: The future is hard to predict, but the mixtape scene down South has long been a crystal ball of sorts when it comes to gauging new rap talent. And if his street buzz is any indication, Atlanta representative Future has plenty of bright days ahead.

After establishing his sound on the DJ Scream-hosted 1000 and Dirty Spritetapes and, of course, on the chorus on YC's infectious "Racks," Future has returned with his latest mixtape, True Story.

"The mixtape True Story, everything on it from the beginning to the end is based on a very true story, and I just wanted to go in and paint the picture for the streets," the rapper told Mixtape Daily.

Raised in the infamous Zone 6 section of Atlanta, Future found musical inspiration in the form of his cousin Rico Wade of the Dungeon Family (Outkast, Goodie Mob). It was Future's producer cousin who encouraged him to hone his writing abilities and that support ultimately led to the MC putting out local favorites like "Watch This," "Yeah, Yeah" and the ladies anthem "Stand."

On True Story, Future puts his pen on full display, crafting catchy hooks over dirty southern bounce beats. The results are enjoyable, the subject matter varied. There's the strip-club inspired "Magic" and the hustler's ode, "Tony Montana." On "Long Time Coming," Future gets nostalgic and writes a letter to a lost love. Waka Flocka Flame and Scooter assist on the lighthearted "Annoying," and newly signed G-Unit member Shawty Lo helps out on the lost-homey dedication "Bigger Picture."

While True Story chronicles the rapper's sometimes difficult come-up, it does provide some hope that the days to come for Future will be worth the struggle.

Joints to Check For
» "Tony Montana": "I had to paint the picture of the whole movie: If you never seen Tony Montana, go look at the movie 'Scarface.' The beat was sounding crazy when I heard the beat. It sounded like New York when I heard it. It sounded very grimy, gutter, but at the same time it was a vicious track — it had that pound. I had to approach it that way when I wrote the song, so I thought about scenes from the movie, all the highlight scenes from Tony Montana from when he first came to America and they wouldn't even let him over — his anger — trying to get that vibe and get that energy."

» "Magic": " 'Magic' was a song that I just made. They were playing this beat and I just thought about the night before on a Monday I went to [the strip club] Magic City, and then on a Tuesday I went to the studio and that morning put my whole situation on the track. Everything I do, I pretty much freestyle."

Last week, Foster the People shared their plans to follow-up their dark-horse Summer Jam 2011 candidate "Pumped Up Kicks" with a Kenny G collaboration on their next album, even if Katy Perry beat them to the punch on that cameo. In the meantime, the guys are still pushing ahead with a brand new single and video, neither of which feature the sax majesty of G, but still promise to be thoroughly weird in their own right.

"Our next single's going to be 'Helena Beat,' and we just shot a video for it, which we're just finishing now. I think today, actually, it was finished," frontman Mark Foster told MTV News. "It's like a short film, really. It's post-apocalyptic, 'Lord of the Flies' meets 'Mad Max,' so, it's a bunch of kids, and they kidnap us and take us into this warehouse, and there's a really crazy twist at the end. But it's super-visual, and it's a mixture of really, like, bizarre circumstances — it's dark, but it's also pretty tongue-in-cheek and fun."

Foster said that the band also shot a clip for their song "Houdini" at Los Angeles' iconic El Rey Theatre ("We shot a video there before we actually played there," he laughed), but that it'll be "Helena" that gets the full push at radio. And though it draws the unenviable task of having to follow in the footsteps of "Pumped Up Kicks," the guys in Foster the People believe in the song's power, mostly because it's become their favorite moment in their ever-increasing live set.

"'Helena Beat' is actually my favorite song in the set. ... I get to run around with a guitar and bang on drums," Foster laughed. "So, you know, it's good."

After three seasons of ups and downs, crazy characters, deaths and drama, fans of HBO's Southern vampire soap "True Blood" are used to the series' many plot twists and turns. The fourth season is no different, as the story line of favorite cocky, no-nonsense Louisiana vampire sheriff Eric Northman has changed dramatically, thanks to a coven of witches causing him to lose his memory and, from the looks of things, his entire sense of self along with it.

When MTV News caught up with Alexander Skarsgård, the man behind the complicated vampire, we asked him for his take on "amnesiac Eric," a favorite character twist of fans of the books by Charlaine Harris, upon which "True Blood" is based.

"It's been amazing," he said. "It's really been fun. You've seen the first three episodes, so you know that it's a very different Eric from what we're used to."

Speaking to the new dynamics that have been added to his character — humility, shyness, hesitance — Skarsgård said he's enjoyed the challenges of playing against type, so to speak.

"It's been challenging and fun to kind of find the right balance," he said. "I don't know if I got it right or not, but I really enjoyed the journey this year," he added, careful not to reveal too many details of whether we'll see Eric regain his old self or not.

"It's not a new Eric; it's just a new side of Eric we haven't seen before," he said. "He had that in him before, but he worked really hard [to hide his] insecurities and vulnerabilities. Old Eric wasn't comfortable with that. Suddenly he is, and we haven't seen that before."

What do you think of Eric's story arc this season? Let us know in the comments!

'Harry Potter' World Cup Recap: It's Down To Ron And Snape!

Posted: 10 Jul 2011 10:13 PM PDT

Find out the winner during MTV News' live stream at the 'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' red carpet, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.
By Eric Ditzian

In the beginning, there were 64 wizards, witches, elves and ghosts. Each one had been thrown into a cutthroat online tournament, decided by the public and subject to the passions and prejudices of die-hard fans, all to come up with the definitive answer to the question: Who is the greatest "Harry Potter" character of all time?

Now that fantastical conundrum is down to just two people: potions master Severus Snape and Gryffindor great Ron Weasley. As of this writing, the two wizards are locked in the heated final match of MTV News' "Harry Potter" World Cup. Voting is still going on, and the winner will be announced on Monday evening (July 11) during our live stream of the New York red-carpet premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," which begins at 4:30 p.m. ET.

It's a remarkable feat that both men are left standing, considering that over 7 million votes have been cast throughout the four weeks of the tournament. Who would have guessed that Harry Potter himself would get chucked from the tournament in the Elite Eight, a victim of Snape's fanbase and his remarkable character arc? Big bad Lord Voldemort didn't even make it that far, losing in the third round to onetime Azkaban prisoner Sirius Black! And Cedric Diggory, hardly a first-tier character, was nonetheless thought to be a potential Cinderella story (given that Robert Pattison portrayed him onscreen). Yet "Potter" fans appeared to unite and overwhelm the "Twilight" set, sending Cedric to a third-round ouster.

After upsets, crushing defeats and overwhelming victories, the Final Four fell into place late last week: Snape vs. Hogwarts witch Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley vs. Black. Hermione may have been the smartest witch of her age and Ron's cherished gal pal, but none of that was enough to vanquish Snape — the man who killed Dumbledore but is ultimately redeemed by the series' end. Snape ended up with 62.7 percent of the vote, compared to Hermione's 37.3 percent. The competition between Ron and Black was much closer. One wizard is Harry's best friend; the other was Harry's dad's best friend. And in the end, barely one percentage point separated the two characters, with Ron ultimately surging forward for the win.

So where does that leave us in the final matchup? Snape obviously has the momentum, given his commanding victory over Hermione. Ron has got to be looked at as weakened, considering how he barely survived his Final Four matchup. But he's the last of the Big Three still alive, and fans of Hermione could well shift their allegiances to Ron. Anything can happen, though Rupert Grint, who plays Ron, isn't holding out much hope. When we caught up with the actor on Sunday, before the finals had been solidified, he expressed skepticism that Ron could ever defeat Snape.

"I don't think I could do that — I mean, Snape is a great character," he laughed.

We're streaming live from the red carpet at the New York premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" on Monday (July 11) at 4:30 p.m. ET. Lady Gaga is still doing her part to make mermaids the next big thing in mythological creature trends. Though she went with a lo-fi, '80s-esque video for "The Edge of Glory" instead of her rumored "fishy" theme, there's a chance she could go under the sea for a different clip.

"I haven't been excited about a video like this in a really long time," she said on a Taiwanese talk show recently, refusing to name the title of the fourth single off of Born This Way.

"The relation of the video to my real life, as well as to my dream of the future, is really what makes it so special," she said on the show. "Part of what Born This Way is all about is choosing to live halfway between reality and fantasy at all times, and how anyone can do that. So this video really, really challenges that idea and also celebrates it. And it's very exciting.

"I will also say that Yuyi is in incubation, for anyone who knows what that means," she added, referring to the name she's given to her mermaid alter ego that she first unveiled during her performance for France's "Le Grand Journal" in June. "Yuyi may just be born in the next video."

Gaga teased that her next single would surprise fans during a Twitter Q&A last week, leading to many a guessing game and wish list.

"I don't want to ruin the surprise! It's very unexpected. Working on the video now," she said. "Next single coming in a bit."

A rep for Gaga has not responded to MTV News' request for comment regarding the next single.

It's being billed as "the biggest live music event in radio history" (whatever that means), and so, the organizers of the brand-new iHeartRadio Festival have pulled out all the stops, delivering a lineup that's appropriately loaded with some of the biggest stars in the business.

Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, the Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler are just some of the acts set to appear at the inaugural I Heart Radio fest, scheduled for September 23 and 24 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. They'll be joined on the bill by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Lopez, David Guetta, Rascal Flatts, Kelly Clarkson and John Mayer (to name just a few).

Organizers promise that even more artists will be added to the bill as the summer stretches on. The eternally busy Ryan Seacrest will host the event, which will stream live online and via mobile devices at iHeartRadio.com, and across the websites of all Clear Channel-owned radio stations.

If you'd prefer to be there in person, you can get a first crack at tickets by liking iHeartRadio on Facebook. The pre-sale ends at 1 a.m. ET this Saturday, with tickets going on sale to the general public later that same day (at 1 p.m. ET) through Ticketmaster.com.

Of course, given that this is a radio fest, Clear Channel is also giving listeners plenty of chances to win a free trip to Vegas for the event. For more information on how you can score yours, check out iHeartRadio Music Festival's official site.

Demi Lovato fans rejoice! With the release of her new song "Skyscraper" on Tuesday, now comes word that the video for the single will also drop this week.

The "Skyscraper" video will premiere on Wednesday on E! News, followed by a Vevo premiere on Thursday. Lovato will also sit down with Ryan Seacrest to discuss the video and the song. This is the singer's first release since leaving treatment earlier this year.

"This isn't just a single or a song to me. This represents the strength of an incredibly difficult journey I've been on that will hopefully provide the faith and inspiration to others going through the hardest issues of their own. #STAYSTRONG #SKYSCAPER," the singer wrote on Twitter over the weekend.

The video was directed by Mark Pellington (Michael Jackson, Moby, Foo Fighters) and the song was produced by Toby Gab, whose credits include working with pop princesses Beyoncé, Fergie and Kelly Clarkson.

"My first single is really special to me — to me it symbolizes my journey from the person I was to the happy healthy person I am today, and the fact that people are able to rise above anything, despite the odds."

The song is the lead single off Lovato's next studio album, set for release this fall. Little is known about the album, but she did reveal on Twitter that she had recorded a duet for it. "With my new album, I'm hoping to provide inspiration for girls everywhere who are going through the same issues I've faced," she said. "I think this will come through in a lot of the material."

Thanks to her ubiquitous hit "Friday," Rebecca Black quickly went from YouTube sensation to starring in a Katy Perry video for that singer's equally ubiquitous hit "Last Friday Night." Now Black is ready to take her career to the next level.

She'll release a new song, "My Moment," on July 18, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The song was written by Brandon "Blue" Hamilton (Justin Bieber) and Quinton Tolbert and the production credits include Charlton Pettus.

The video is reportedly less kitschy than her "Friday" video (but perhaps just as literal). It will include footage of her attending red-carpet events and receiving an award at her junior high school, telling "the story of her sudden rise to fame," according to a statement. "It's a fairy tale story, but it happened in real life."

Black is also working on finishing up her five-track EP, which will be released in August. "We're thinking about it; we have so many different options right now. We're trying to decide which route we should take," Black told MTV News earlier this year about her career plans and following up her viral smash.

"I really like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez; all just the fun upbeat stuff, teenager songs," she said of her musical inspirations. "My dream duet would be Justin Bieber. Even just doing something with Taylor Swift, or any of my favorite artists would be so cool."
