The Big man with the even bigger heart. Friday (May 21) would have been Notorious B.I.G.'s 38th birthday.

Lil' Cease sat back and thought about fond memories of his late friend, especially birthday memories. There was a time when Cease lost a birthday present that Faith Evans had bought her husband.

"I lost a ring she bought Big," Cease said with a big grin. "It was about $15,000."

Cease would sometimes wear Biggie's jewelry onstage while they were performing. During a section in the show where they performed "Gimme the Loot," Cease would throw wads of cash into the crowd. During one show in Texas, Cease was wearing Big's gift and threw the ring in the crowd along with the money. The youngest member of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. didn't realize until they were backstage after the show.

"He's like, 'A'ight, where that ring at, playboy?' " Cease thought back. "I'm looking on my finger, in my pockets. ... He was like, 'That ring is gone.' "

Cease said Big wasn't angry, he just told him he had to deal with Faith.

Cease also laughed when he looked at a picture of Biggie blowing out birthday candles with Puff Daddy at a party, circa 1995.

"That's Puff Daddy. I can't remember his name, but the guy in the middle, that's Stevie J's brother," the Brooklyn native said, looking at the photo that was shot by Ronnie Wright. "We was in the park during a Total video shoot. We was just sitting there, 3 o'clock in the afternoon, drinking Cristal on the grass in Long Island, having fun. Fly. That was just the start of the day."

Laughter ensued when Cease thought about when Biggie turned 21.

"At that time, we was still getting on with the record deal. It wasn't that much of a celebration. Just more some family and friends sitting around having a good time. Real basic stuff. A little party. Riding around listening to music. We knew what was about to happen. Puff was working with him. Diddy threw a nice gathering for us. It was just the basics. Big had that Land Cruiser. We would drive around, get that smoke for the first part of the day. Then we was in the lab, in Daddy's House [Diddy's studio]. Daddy's House had just got up and running."

When asked how Big would be celebrating today, Cease said more of the same.

"Today, he'd probably just be with the family," Cease said. "We had our experience on the road: performing, doing shows, big parties. He definitely would have had a big party. A celebrity affair. But he also would have done something private with the M.A.F.I.A., close friends, wife. He kept it together with everybody he dealt with, and I'm sure they would have all came out and shown their love for Big and kept everything else under the carpet, whatever it was. Big had that type of heart, that everyone would wanna come out and show their love and spend that day with him."

How do you think Biggie would have celebrated his 38th birthday? Let us know in the comments.

Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas will be hitting the road together when Demi joins the Jonas Brothers for their summer tour. Fans will be especially excited to see the young couple share the stage.

"It's going to be fun. We've never done it like this before," Joe said about touring and performing with his girlfriend. "But we're excited."

Lovato said she plans to keep Joe and his brothers on their toes during the tour. "I always hold my own, get it straight!" she laughed. "I'm just kidding! It'll be fun. I'm excited. I'm representing."

Joe and Demi won't be the only happy couple on the road. Kevin and his wife, Danielle, will also be joining the pair. "Dani will be there, and it'll be great," he said, adding that they also have their puppy coming along for the trip. "Riley will be with us. It'll be a whole family thing."

The brothers had a good-natured laugh at little brother, Nick, who's going stag on the tour. "He's got his baseball bat," Joe laughed, with Kevin adding that Nick was very excited for "Road Dogs season."

Regardless of the joking, Nick said the only person he needs on the tour with him is the fans. "I'm very excited about just getting on the road and being with the fans," he said. "That's what's important for me this summer. That's what I'm looking forward to, and I know they are as well."

Rick Ross Was 'In Awe' Of Jay-Z During Teflon Don Studio Session

'He's rubbing his head, like he puling his rhymes outta his mind,' Ross recalls of Hov.

Rick Ross says it was a process — an extremely entertaining process — that led up to the night Jay-Z recorded his verse for a yet-untitled record from Ross' upcoming LP, Teflon Don. The rapper went to the last stop on Hov's Blueprint 3 tour in Las Vegas and collaborated on a song he described as an atomic bomb.

"You party in Tao [in Vegas] till 2 or 3 or 4 in the morning," Ross said of how they kick off a session. "Twenty-five bottles of Ace [Of Spades]; 7 a.m., you was just hitting the crap tables. It's 9-ish, 10-ish, so focused though [once you go to the studio]. That was the beauty in our bond — our respect for one another. I don't just e-mail records or have somebody drop off a beat.

"I was a roadie on the Blueprint 3 tour for a few dates," he explained off tagging along with Hov. "It started off in St. Louis. I was just messing with everybody, kicking it with everybody, letting Jay hear my ideas and concepts. When you get the deluxe version of this album, we documented when I played the record. I played the track and my first verse," Ross recalled. "I put in the PS3 behind the stage.

"Played it, [Jay] listened to it," he continued. "We played it, backed it up, played it again. Played it, backed it up, played it again. Backed it up, and he spit his verse. It's gonna be magic for people to see Jay do his "Rain [Man]" when he's rubbing his head, like he puling his rhymes outta his mind. Just to see somebody come up with a verse that potent in less than two or three minutes ... 'cause it was just a snippet. The beat may have played for a minute and a half and started over," a process Ross says was repeated a few times as Jay composed. "He had his 16, an idea for the chorus. Trey Songz, all of us standing around in awe."

Ross said he's still shocked that Jay came with a verse so fresh in such a short amount of time.

"It's most definitely a surreal feeling," the Bawse added. "Something that's real hard to describe. When you have that camaraderie with someone, and you all continue to raise the bar somewhat — it blowed the whole room. Shout out to [Jay-Z cohorts] O.G. Juan, Tah Tah. One of the words I said in my verse, it triggered something in [Jay's] mind. He had so many things to say about it. The content of the record, it's gonna answer a lot of things that's been circulating. It's going to be moving."

The Miami native said the song doesn't have a title yet because he wants to be very deliberate about naming what he thinks will be an atomic record.

"It's still untitled. I have two or three ideas. But you know, the chorus is so powerful. It's two or three words that's said, I just haven't decided. But we took it to that next level."

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

Happy birthday to the one and only Notorious B.I.G. — the hip-hop legend would have been 38 years old on Friday (May 21). And, just like they did on the 13th anniversary of his death on March 9, his fans, friends and family will be celebrating his legacy all day.

One of Biggie's closest confidants, Lil' Cease, is not just going to play the tunes of his best friend — he's putting out music that he feels the Notorious One would have been proud of.

"Everything Is Hardbody, the first mixtape dropping May 21 [on] B.I.'s b-day," Cease explained. "I think that's the day for it. It was just the timing around when I finished it — I was like, 'This is a good day to drop it on. It's the time when people are thinking about a Lil' Cease or B.I. or Junior M.A.F.I.A. They're thinking about us on March 9th or May 21.' I was like, 'Let's go for that date. It will be something monumental, something special.' When people think of B.I. Day, I'm sure I come to their minds. I'll give them a whole 12-, 13-joint mixtape with some nice exclusive music from me.

"I stepped my game up as far as the lyrics, concepts. It's gonna show my maturity," Cease continued about the upcoming mixtape. "I took time off from the music just to learn it. The music is different from when we was up and moving with it. You gotta be persistent with it, make authentic music. I took it back to that '94, '95 era. Thanks to people like Raekwon, who kinda made the music authentic again. You ain't gotta do the dance music. I kept it basic. That real M.A.F.I.A. sound. It came out dope. I did all new music. It's more like a free album. I wanted to do something different with the mixtape."

Busta Rhymes, Cardan and Fabolous appear on the tape as well as some new talent.

"I got one I just dropped called 'Just Here to Hustle' with my boy Apollo Creed — he's from L.A.," Cease said. "We just dropped the video online — every site been showing love. I got this one called 'Yessir' — we about to shoot the video with my artist Cancun ... it's dope. It's like a real underground album. If you liked the first Wu-Tang album, this is in that mode. Real gutter, grimy beats."

Kevin Jonas Reveals His Pole-Vaulting Past On 'When I Was 17'

These days, Kevin Jonas makes a living as a pop star along with his superstar brothers, Joe and Nick. But there was a time when Kevin had to mow lawns for pocket money and, back in his after-school days, Kevin was a member of the track team. Yes, Kevin Jonas used to be a jock.

"When I was 17, my favorite sport was pole vaulting," Kevin recalled in this week's episode of MTV's "When I Was 17," which also features stories from Katharine McPhee and Bret Michaels. "Freshman year of high school, my history teacher actually asked me. He's like, 'You're going to join the track team. You should be a pole vaulter.' "

After some skepticism about doing it and initially being confused by what was expected of him as a pole vaulter, Kevin quickly changed his mind. "I was like, 'Oh, OK. Whatever.' And then I realized what pole vaulting was," he remembered. "And I was like, 'Yes! Please!' "

In the episode, Kevin's uncle Josh shared just how much Kevin enjoyed the sport. "He loved it — he loved the challenge, always tried to go higher, the extra next level."

Now, Kevin spends his time at "Camp Rock," but back in the day at high school in New Jersey, it was all about Camp Track. "Pole vaulting was my passion. I even went to a pole-vaulting camp, yeah," he said. "People laughed at me for a while about that one, but it was cool."

"When I Was 17" — this week featuring Kevin Jonas, Bret Michaels and Katharine McPhee — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

The wait for one of hip-hop's most heavily anticipated debut albums is almost over, with less than a month until Drake's Thank Me Later is released.

The track list for the project, set to drop June 15, leaked online Tuesday (May 20) via the rapper's most dedicated fan site, AllThings-Fresh.net.

The lineup features an array of A-list talent, including Young Jeezy, T.I. and Swizz Beatz and the already-announced Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, The-Dream and Lil Wayne. Fellow Young Money member Nicki Minaj will also make a guest turn on "Up All Night."

A representative for Drake did not respond to requests for comment at press time, but a source at his parent label, Universal/Motown Records, confirmed the track list to MTV News.

Drake has said in the past that he didn't want Thank Me Later, his first release since breakthrough mixtape So Far Gone, to be laden with features. "I really don't bank on collaborations unless it makes sense," Drake said. "If I get people's verses back and they don't coincide with the vision I have, I'll do the whole album by myself. I'm not really worried about the special guests. It's about linking to me and my story. There's people that just add to my story."

During a tour stop in L.A. last week, Drake revealed that Alicia Keys would appear on the album's first track, "Fireworks."

The Toronto MC spoke to MTV News late last year about the Jay-Z-assisted song "Light Up," which he described as "phenomenal."

Several Thank Me Later tracks, among them "Shut It Down" (featuring The-Dream) and "Miss Me" (featuring Lil Wayne) have already popped up online. "Miss Me" is slated to be Drake's third single, following "Over" and "Find Your Love."

Drake described "Miss Me" in a previous interview, explaining the concept as a "straightforward" number reflecting the circumstances of his and Wayne's lives. "It's a song about being away from what you love and hoping that when you're gone, doing you, somebody out there misses you," he said. "It goes for Wayne in his situation, and it goes for me in my situation, 'cause I'm on the road for I don't how long right now."

The Thank Me Later track list, according to Universal/Motown:

1. "Fireworks" (featuring Alicia Keys)
2. "Karaoke"
3. "The Resistance"
4. "Over"
5. "Show Me a Good Time"
6. "Up All Night" (featuring Nicki Minaj)
7. "Fancy" (featuring T.I. and Swizz Beatz)
8. "Shut It Down" (featuring The Dream)
9. "Unforgettable" (featuring Young Jeezy)
10. "Light Up" (featuring Jay-Z)
11. "Miss Me" (featuring Lil Wayne)
12. "Cece's Interlude"
13. "Find Your Love"
14. "Thank Me Now"

Simon Cowell Tells Oprah His 'Time's Up' On 'American Idol'

Judge also says he 'hated' his reaction to Susan Boyle's appearance on 'Britain's Got Talent.'

The end of "American Idol" season nine next week will also bring the departure of controversial-yet-adored judge Simon Cowell. The Brit appeared on Thursday's (May 20) "Oprah Winfrey Show" to discuss his reasons for leaving, whether he'll miss the show and why he's starting a new, seemingly similar show.

Oprah started the interview by asking Cowell point-blank why he's leaving "Idol." "Time's up," he answered. "It feels like the right thing to do."

The often sharp-tongued Brit said part of the reason behind his departure is due to boredom. "After a while, you start to go on automatic pilot. Too many times I was sitting there [at the judges' table] bored. The audience deserves more than that ... and I can't hide when I'm bored."

To combat that boredom, Cowell said he's launching a U.S. version of his "X Factor" talent show that, although similar to "Idol," will have several differences. "It's different because there's no upper age limit. ... Singing groups can enter the show," he explained. "I have no idea whether it's going to work or not, but I'll put its success and failure on whether we can find a star."

Oprah then asked if Cowell is bored on "Idol" now why he would move on to yet another talent show. "I actually like doing it, funny enough," he said. "I remember Fantasia singing 'Summertime,' and for three minutes, I lost myself. I like the buzz it creates. You want to be part of something people are talking about. I love that feeling."

While recalling some of his favorite contestants (Carrie Underwood and Fantasia) Cowell readily admitted that his "big ego" often gets in his way — particularly with the case of Susan Boyle's now-famous audition on "Britain's Got Talent"

"On the day [of her audition], I was in such a bad mood, I didn't want to be there, I never thought we'd find anyone good," he remembered. "When I watched the clip back, I actually hated myself. We're all sneering, we're not listening. I didn't like what I saw. It was a wake-up call, and I was happy she made us look stupid, because we deserved it."

Yet all in all, and given his track record (and reported $1 billion net worth from his various productions), Cowell said he's confident he can still find undiscovered talent: "I do trust my judgment as somebody who can spot a potential star."

Regarding his impending "Idol" departure, Cowell said he expects his last night on the ratings juggernaut to be poignant.

"The final night will be quite emotional," he told Oprah. "I've had a great time. I love working over here [in the U.S.] and never thought I would."

Bret Michaels Back In The Hospital

Fresh from a healthier-looking appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show"following his hospitalization for treatment of a brain hemorrhage last month, rocker Bret Michaels is back in the hospital after complaining of numbness on the left side of his body in his face and hands.

According to Michaels' website, doctors described the symptoms as a Transient Ischemic Attack or warning stroke. While performing MRI and CT scans, doctors conducted ultrasound tests looking for blood clots — specifically an Ultrasound Bubble Test of his heart — which proved positive for a Patent Forum Ovale, or a hole in his heart.

Michaels' neurosurgeon is quoted on the site: "There is no doubt that the positive Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) is devastating news to Bret and his family. The good news is that it is operable and treatable and we think we may have diagnosed the problem that caused the Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA) or warning stroke; however we feel it is highly unlikely this is connected to the brain hemorrhage he suffered just a few weeks earlier. Once again it is great that he quickly reacted to the severe numbness and got to the hospital immediately.

"I realize Bret wants to make a full recovery so that he can be active with his family, attempt to attend the finale of 'Celebrity Apprentice' and especially get back on the road to continue making music," Dr. Zabramski continued. "Without a doubt he is very determined to get healthy and make a 100% recovery. Medically speaking it is a fantastic attitude both mentally and physically for him to have. However, Bret's brain and body are not quite 100% yet, especially with the hole found in his heart. Further tests will be conducted throughout the week and I will have more information next week as to how this Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) will be treated. For now, Bret will be treated with outpatient care, which includes a daily injection of Lovenox (a blood thinner to reduce the chance of blood clots) and blood tests."

Michaels' rep, Janna Elias, added the following statement on Bret's behalf: "Bret wants everyone to know he cannot thank you enough for all of the well-wishes, prayers and good vibes you have sent his way. Even though these last few months have been tough on him and his family, especially this most recent setback, he is in good spirits, great medical hands and is positive and hopeful that everything is going to be OK. He is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive, but he has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again."

It was unclear what day Michaels entered the hospital or whether this latest setback will affect his scheduled "Celebrity Apprentice" appearance on Sunday.

Share your well-wishes for Bret and his family in the comments.

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Casey Makes Way For Lee And Crystal

The judges get their way, with a little help from the blond guy's poor song choice.
By Jim Cantiello

This week's "American Idol" had the contestants singing two songs each, which was good news for Crystal Bowersox, better news for Lee DeWyze, and totally irrelevant news to Casey WhatsHisFace.

Round one was the contestants' choice! That blond guy did himself no favors by picking a song by an artist who's somehow less famous than he is, and MamaSox went the predictable route with a poor Melissa Etheridge impression. That left Lee DeWyze to steal the show with Skynyrd's "Simple Man," which was quite simply his best performance on "Idol," period.

In round two, the judges picked the music. Kara and Randy did their best to sabotage Ponytail Man's "Idol" run with a tuneless, low-impact John Mayer song. Meanwhile Ellen DeGeneres finally did some good on the "Idol" stage by allowing Crystal Bowersox to bare her soul with Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed." The 'Sox may have hit some bum notes, but the best note she struck was keeping the pronouns the way the Beatle wrote them. She didn't care that she sounded like a transgendered man in love with a woman, so why should America? A thousand awesome points to MamaSox.

But it was predetermined that it was Lee DeWyze's night to shine, what with Simon assigning him "Hallelujah" and basically telling America that Lee was going to have "a moment" with the song before the dude had moaned a single note. (Why is it when Paula Abdul critiqued Jason Castro ahead of time everyone freaked, but when Simon Cowell did the same for DeWyze, it became gospel?)

The good news is that DeWyze did not perform the done-to-death (no pun intended) Jeff Buckley arrangement. The bad news is the version DeWyze did was the Overwrought, Overproduced, Overcooked Vegas Spectacular Rendition, complete with strings, horns, timpani, choirs, SteadiCams, angels, furrowed brows and the cast of Cirque du Soleil waiting in the wings, ready to pounce on Lee's signal, which he never activated. (Also, no bagpipe.) Lee sounded great, but then again, with that setup even Seacrest could have warbled a line and sounded like Pavarotti. It's a miracle 30 million Americans didn't choke Tuesday night, given the way "Idol" producers shoved Lee down viewers' throats.

On Wednesday night's results show, after an interview segment that lasted approximately 42 minutes, we saw footage from the "Idols" hometown visits! And everyone cried! Casey got emotional when he visited the hospital that saved his life, Crystal got weepy at a stadium and Lee DeWyze sobbed from start to finish. We met doctors, teachers, paint salesmen, local Fox affiliates, AT&T employees and creepy fans who ran next to limousines and plotted to tattoo autographs to their chests. (This ... is "American Psycho"!)

To put things in perspective and make the season-nine finale showdown all the more enticing, "Idol" booked Perez Hilton's pet project Travis Garland as a guest performer, and suddenly this year's crop of contestants seemed exponentially more appealing. (Also now suddenly appealing? Justin Bieber! Travis Garland should be on standby on Tax Day to make that hell seem like a holiday, too.)

In the end, the results played out exactly the way Simon and company hoped they would. Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox will face off next week, while Casey James was left to sing that John Mayer song again, except this time he performed with a little girl prop. It's too late to get the "awww, look at the cuteness" votes, Casey.

Did you feel like Simon Cowell was heavy-handed in his promotion of Lee DeWyze this week? Sound off in the comments.

'Lost' Writers Talk 'Enormously Satisfying' Series Finale

Even with the series' end so near in sight, "Lost" executive producers and writers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are particularly careful to not reveal too much about the finale of their hugely popular TV show. Especially when it comes to talking with fans and, most importantly, the media. When MTV News caught up with Lindelof and Cuse recently, they equated finishing and finally watching the series finale to buying someone a birthday present too early and having to wait for them to open it.

"By the time their birthday rolls around you're sort of like, 'Are they even going to like this anymore? Do they already have one?' But that never happened with us," Lindelof revealed. "The closer we got [to the end], the more confident we became that it was the right ending. We probably watched the last scene of the show 40 or 50 times in the editing room, trying to cross every 'T' and dot every 'I.' It was enormously satisfying for us."

Lindelof wisely emphasized the "us" aspect, knowing that with the end of such a popular, theorized and agonized-over show, there is no way to please everyone.

ABC begins its "Lost" series finale celebration/send-off on Saturday, when it will re-air the original two-hour pilot from 2004 from 8-10 p.m., including a "pop-up" version with enhanced trivia and facts about the $10 million episode directed by J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek"). The two-and-a-half-hour "Lost" series finale airs Sunday from 9 to 11:30 p.m.

Lindsay Lohan Arrest Warrant Dropped

Lindsay Lohan will not be sent to jail, for now. Thanks to $100,000 posted by a representative for the troubled actress, the warrant for her arrest was withdrawn on Thursday evening (May 20).

According to Los Angeles Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitemore, Lohan's lawyer must appear in court Monday morning when a judge will set the date for her probation-revocation hearing. It is not clear if Lohan is required to attend Monday's hearing at the Beverly Hills, California, courthouse, Whitemore said.

CNN reports Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel revoked Lohan's probation and issued a bench warrant for her arrest after she failed to appear at a hearing on Thursday.

Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said her client missed the hearing because she is stuck in France due to her passport being stolen while she was attending the Cannes Film Festival. Holley said Lohan was issued a temporary passport by the U.S. Embassy in Paris on Thursday and will fly back to the United States as soon as possible.

Judge Revel said Lohan cannot drink alcohol until a full hearing on her probation revocation, and she will be fitted with a bracelet to detect if she has been drinking. Random drug testing also will be performed on the actress, because of previous evidence she was under the influence of cocaine, Revel said.

"I warned her before," the judge said. "She knew it was very serious."

Lohan has been on probation since pleading guilty in August 2007 to two misdemeanor counts of being under the influence of cocaine, no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent and one count of reckless driving. Her probation was extended for another year in October after Lohan struggled to comply with court-mandated terms of her sentence, and prosecutors have warned that she faces jail time if she violates probation again.

Muse Eclipse Soundtrack Video: See It Here!

Brooding clip for 'Neutron Star Collision' shows unseen snippets from 'Eclipse.'
By Eric Ditzian

Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)"

The "Twilight" universe's favorite band is back — as if Stephenie Meyer and the creative minds behind the big-screen vampire franchise would have it any other way. Muse is making it three-for-three when it comes to the vampire movie soundtracks, contributing the lead single off The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" And now they've premiered the music video for the song.

The clip is relatively unadorned and simple, almost reminiscent of the music videos you'd regularly see on MTV back in the '80s. The band plays in front of oversize screens, colored lights glow and mix around them and snippets of Edward, Bella and Jacob flash across the screen.

Muse's "Neutron" track itself dropped on Monday, and MTV premiered a 30-second chunk of the video last week, but this is the first time fans have had the chance to check out the nearly four-minute visual in its entirety.

At the outset, the camera pans down to find lead singer Matthew Bellamy on the piano, as a single source of light projects hazy blues and reds behind him. "I was searching, you were on a mission," he sings. "Then our hearts combined like a neutron star collision / I have nothing left to lose / You took your time to choose."

Does any of that, by any chance, remind you of a certain girl caught between the affections of a vampire and a werewolf? Right! The video doesn't show us a ton of fresh footage, but we do get a sense of story elements set to the tune of a brooding, epic rock song: There's Edward and Bella in a field of flowers, there they are checking out her engagement ring and there goes a shirtless Jacob embracing the woman he loves. We also get the Volturi, the wolfpack and a quick close up nefarious Victoria.

That's not to say there's nothing new. By our estimation, among the first looks we get are Edward and Bella kissing in the field, a shot of the Cullen family together and Victoria running from the snapping jaws of two wolves. Hot on the heels of the recent announcement that James Franco will return to "General Hospital" for another run, Variety reports that the "Pineapple Express" and "Spider-Man" alum has signed on to star in the "Planet of the Apes" prequel, "Rise of the Apes."

Franco reportedly beat out a "number of Hollywood's young elite actors for the coveted role" in the prequel, which is said to be an origin story set in present-day San Francisco.

According to the industry publication, the plot centers on the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Franco is set to play a young, driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in that war. The production is scheduled to begin filming July 5 and will be released June 24, 2011.

As one of the many successful "Freaks and Geeks" alums, Franco has made a slew of creative career choices of late. In 2008, he enrolled in Columbia University's MFA Writing Program and New York University's film school. In March of this year, it was announced Franco had been admitted into Yale's Ph.D. program in English. Acting-wise, his second run on "General Hospital" (the first of which was met with plenty of raised brows and questions) begins airing June 30. He returns to the soap as a creepy artist/ alleged murderer named Franco. He was recently seen in the Steve Carell/ Tina Fey comedy "Date Night." This summer, he appears in the movie "Eat Pray Love," starring Julia Roberts, and the upcoming Danny Boyle movie "127 Hours."

Megan Fox Opens Up About Michael Bay, 'Transformers' In 2009 Interview

'You get addicted to the Bay-hem,' Fox tells MTV News of shooting blockbusters vs. 'quieter' films.

Depending on whom you believe, either "Transformers 3" filmmakers dropped Megan Fox from the upcoming film or the actress up and quit the production of her own accord. What is clear is that Fox and director Michael Bay have long formed an uneasy creative partnership.

"Working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience," Fox once said.

Bay didn't let such statements fly by without a response: "Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in 'Transformers.' "

Before their working relationship fell apart — last summer, when "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" had torn up the box office and Fox was busy promoting her horror flick "Jennifer's Body" — the actress spoke openly with MTV News about working with Bay. She spoke about his directorial style, doing stunt work and her confidence as a professional. For the first time, here is Megan Fox, in her own words, on all these things and more.

On Making Big-Budget Blockbusters
"You get addicted to those big action movies. You get addicted to the Bay-hem. You step away from it, and you're relieved and you're relaxed and you do something that's quieter and you feel like you're really working on it and you're fleshing out and figuring things out. But then you sort of miss that abuse."

On Bay as a Director
"['Jennifer's Body'] wasn't so fast-paced and it wasn't so constantly chaotic [as 'Transformers']. ... Continuity is a big part of film. Things need to match from previous scenes, because you shoot everything out of order. 'Transformers,' there's no continuity in that movie at all."

On What's Surprising About Bay
"He actually has a really good sense of humor. You'd never know that about him, but he's really funny, so he could do a comedy if he wanted to."

On Doing Stunts
"I love physical stuff. That makes the acting part easier for me. If you're throwing someone around or getting thrown around, or if you're efforting that much or hurting yourself, you don't have to feign the process. I enjoy that."

On Her Behavior During a Movie Shoot
"I never cause problems on set. I become like a vampire, and I hide in my hotel room."

On Confidence and Failure
"It's easy to be confident when you've never failed before. Then you try something and you're not good at it, or you fail or you suck or people have something sh--ty to say, and then you are a little less secure. Or at least that's how it works with me. I think that's how it works with most people in this industry."

On Her Hopes for the Future
"I have aspirations to keep working and keep improving. I don't have a specific type of movie that I want to do or a specific director I want to work with. I just want to keep working."

'Teen Wolf' Gets A Reboot In MTV Series

The show, which starts production this summer, is a darker take on the high school werewolf story.

Young men who spontaneously transform into wolves are hot right now, especially in the age of "Twilight." Now, MTV is getting into the shape-shifting business with a modern spin on the cult-classic '80s hit "Teen Wolf."

The series is said to be a departure from the film — a campy comedy that starred Michael J. Fox — and is described in a press release as a "sexy thriller set against the drama of high school life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core."

The series centers on Scott McCall as the quintessential outsider, struggling to be recognized in a way that takes him out of high school anonymity. One night, his best friend, Stiles, convinces him to go into the woods to join a police search for a dead body. Scott ends up being attacked by a creature in the darkness, narrowly surviving with a vicious bite in his side. When he wakes up the next morning, he is greeted with strange surprises and a life that will never be the same.

"We are always up for creative challenges at MTV," said Liz Gateley, MTV senior vice president of series development. "We loved the conceit of the original film and knew the title had a great hook. The creative challenge was to take that title and reinvent it as a horror series for the MTV audience. It combines romance and high school to make 'Teen Wolf' the perfect thriller for MTV."

"Teen Wolf" stars Tyler Posey ("Maid in Manhattan," "Brothers and Sisters") as the newly bitten werewolf; Dylan O'Brien is Stiles; Crystal Reed is the mysterious new girl in town, Allison; and Tyler Hoechlin ("Road to Perdition," "7th Heaven") is the older and possibly dangerous werewolf, Derek Hale.

"Teen Wolf" is slated to begin production this summer for 12 one-hour episodes.

Sarah Jessica Parker Reluctant To Give Up Role For 'Carrie Diaries'

'I can't imagine anyone else playing Dorothy — just Judy Garland,' 'Sex and the City 2' star says.

In the newly released"The Carrie Diaries," a written prequel of sorts to the "Sex and the City" series, readers follow a teenage Carrie Bradshaw as she navigates her senior year of high school. Now, with "Sex and the City 2" mania heating up, it seems only a matter of time before the book gets the TV or film treatment. But who could fill the iconic Carrie's shoes — as well as Sarah Jessica Parker?

MTV News recently caught up with the actress, who was promoting the "Sex" sequel opening May 17, and asked her.

"It's so funny. It's just been asked of me, of course, in the last 24 hours," Parker told MTV News about how she'd react to another actress playing a younger Carrie. "It makes perfect sense [that another actress would be cast]. And I would like to be generous of spirit and say, 'Of course,' and, 'I will do so if that is asked of me.' "

But Parker admitted she wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea, referencing another iconic character known for her shoes.

"It's just, I don't know. I can't imagine anyone else playing Dorothy Gale — just Judy Garland," Parker smiled with a nod to "The Wizard of Oz."

Parker can probably rest easy for now though, as adaptation plans seem to be a ways off. "The Carrie Diaries" author Candace Bushnell recently told MTV News, "It's not in my hands, so there aren't any plans at this moment. We don't know what's going to happen."

Wale Was Rooting For Hometown Wizards In NBA Draft Lottery

Posted: 20 May 2010 01:41 AM PDT

'Nah, we can't get the #1 pick,' the MC recalls thinking of Wizards' chances at star point guard John Wall.

Most of Wale's hometown teams are giving fans great hope for the future. The Washington Nationals have a tremendous blue-chip-prospect pitcher in Stephen Strasburg. The Redskins acquired a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback in Donovan McNabb via trade and, this week, the Washington Wizards hit the lotto! One of the worst teams in the NBA, the Wizards struck the jackpot by winning the NBA lottery, which entitled them to the very first pick in this year's NBA draft. It's projected that the team will go with University of Kentucky point guard John Wall.

"I'mma have to call old Johnny Boy today," Wale said by phone from Atlanta, where he's been in the studio with Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame and Yung LA. "I never met him. I'mma just talk to him. Hopefully we'll get him. You never know, but either way, he's gonna have a tremendous career."

Prior to the actual draft lottery, 14 teams were ranked in order of their regular-season records. The league-worst New Jersey Nets held the top position and, therefore, the best opportunity to get the #1 pick, with a little more than a 25 percent chance. Meanwhile, the Wizards were in the middle of the pack of 14, with a 10 percent shot. The Wizards, of course, came out on top, moving up to get Wall. Wale said he was conducting business on Tuesday, but found it difficult to concentrate with the NBA draft lottery under way.

"I was actually on a conference call with [an] important company," Wale said. "It was a countdown. Then it was like, 'Nah, we can't get the #1 pick.' When it got to five left, I was like, 'No way.' When it was three [teams left], I completely dropped out of the conference call. I was not paying attention at all."

Wale says Wall could bring the Wizards much-needed energy.

"Young blood, new blood," the DMV MC said. "I think he'll complement Andray Blatche and Gil [Arenas] as well. I think Blatche can definitely be one of the best forwards in the league — at least the top of the East Coast. I think [Wall] will give them an opportunity to do a little more. I think [Blatche] showed he's capable of being one of the top big men in the league when everybody got traded [last season]."

Still, Wale concedes the Wizards will need a little more than Wall to get back into championship contention.

"We obviously need the fan support," he said. "We need to change the morale of the team; they have to believe they can do it. I'm a big LeBron James fan, but I'm also very supportive of all the teams coming out of D.C. I'm extra supportive. I always sit on the [arena/stadium] floor and cheer on the teams whenever I'm home: Redskins, Nationals, Capitals and United. You go to the Redskins games, and people support them good or bad. The flow at the Wizards games was not looking good towards the end of the season. I wanna turn that around."

Reflection Eternal Recaptured 'Natural Chemistry' On New Album

Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek drop Revolutions Per Minute--10 years after debut LP.

Reflection Eternal released their second studio album Revolutions Per Minute earlier this week — 10 years after the release of their first album, Train of Thought. The hip-hop duo made up of Talib Kweli and producer Hi-Tek made a blast in 2000 with their critically acclaimed debut, but failed to follow it up with another LP until now.

The pair recently released the video for their single "Midnight Hour," featuring Estelle, and they seem to have naturally evolved in the decade since they became a group to watch. But Hi-Tek admitted it was difficult recapturing their chemistry at first.

"Once we got it started, I think the initial thing was just actually getting that natural chemistry and not just doing it just because somebody wants us to do it," he said. "And once we got that real friend vibe back in the studio and kicking it on a natural level, I think everything just came together smooth."

Tek said Kweli's busy touring schedule made it hard to pin him down. He also said Kweli had to get used to working with just one producer again — a process that differs considerably from just grabbing a beat from a Kanye West or a Just Blaze.

"I don't have an issue with the waiting but I've done so many albums on my own that I've developed a certain way that I record," Kweli explained. "And I did have to switch it up. I'm used to getting the tracks and sitting with them and being able to record them and send them back and this and that. It's just a whole different process when you're working with one producer."

Reflection Eternal aren't too concerned, they said, with living up to the standards of their first project. In fact, Hi-Tek insisted that Revolutions is worthy of classic status, but ultimately, fans will have the last word.

"Afroman got a classic — 'Because I Got High,' everybody knows that song — but it's because of the machine and how it got behind it," Kweli said. "I feel like every song that we put on the new album is classic. We try to only put classic material, but you never know what the people are going to respond to or what the machine is going to push to make them respond," he added.

"I never knew," Hi-Tek said of the Afroman track. "I always felt like, 'Wow, they're doing a video to that track.' I just went and bought this record for a quarter, made a beat out of it and now it's on TV."

The-Dream Says Ciara Has 'A Point To Prove' On Basic Instinct

Ciara originally said she wanted to keep the guest list to a minimum for her next album, Basic Instinct. But The-Dream can be pretty convincing.

The hitmaking songwriter suggested CiCi reteam with Ludacris, and the result was the steamy "Ride," the first single from Basic Instinct.

"I brought Luda in, because I felt like her and Luda have had so much success together, they just sound right together," The-Dream told MTV News from the set of his "Make Up Bag" video. "Especially on that record, 'Ride,' that's the first record me and Trick did [for her new album]. It sounded like Luda, and it sounded like Ciara. So [we] blessed the summertime with both of them.

"She has a point she's trying to prove," he added. "But I don't think she meant it literally like that. She's just trying to do as much as she can to regain her status. And I think she's did a good job of doing it."

Ciara and Ludacris first worked together on her debut album on the song "Oh." The Atlanta rapper recently tapped her to appear on the remix for his "How Low," alongside Pitbull.

Luda said he and singer work well together, calling their efforts "history."

"Man, we always pick the right songs to do together," Luda told MTV News over the weekend in Los Angeles, where he performed at KIIS-FM's annual Wango Tango festival. "She always gives me the right songs; I always give her the right songs. We were actually just talking about that today. So I'm just glad that we have that many collaborations under our belts. ... We'll continue to make history."

'Bones' Finale Brings Some 'Big Changes,' Emily Deschanel Says

'Things are very different,' Deschanel says of season-five finale.
By Jocelyn Vena

"Bones" is set to end its fifth season Thursday night (May 20), and the show's female lead, Emily Deschanel, said there are big changes about to go down at the Jeffersonian — which means someone might be leaving the institution.

Deschanel said she's all for the show's shakeups.

"Our season finale is about a hoarder who is buried alive under his own hoardings. He's murdered and then trapped under his own piles of paper and such," Deschanel told MTV News earlier this week. "And [Deschanel's character Temperance 'Bones'] Brennan is questioning the whole murder business."

Deschanel said Brennan wonders how much longer she can deal with solving horrific murders. "It's taking a toll on her, so big changes are made at the end of the season," she teased. "And those changes affect many characters going into the next season. Things are very different."

Fans will likely be surprised by the changes, but the star said it will ultimately make it a more interesting show for them, as well as for the characters. "I like them. I think they're appropriate," she said of the adjustments. "I think they're right for the characters. It's a good way to progress the story in a way we haven't before."

Of course, fans always wonder if Bones and Booth, played by David Boreanaz, will ever finally get together romantically. Deschanel said there's a chance it will happen — someday. "I do see that happening for the two of them. I can't tell you when, but I do see them getting together and seeing Booth and Brennan as a couple sometime in the future," she said, adding, "It's a debate between fans [if they should end up together]."
