Would 50 Cent Get On Dr. Dre's Song With Game? 'I Wouldn't Do It'

50 Cent and Dr. Dre helped Game concoct a classic album on The Documentary. And although things between Fif and Game went sour, the G-Unit General said he's open to working with Dre again to break another MC.

"We were actually talking about a new artist, working together on a new project," 50 Cent told MTV News. "I said, 'Just because we had a car accident, that doesn't mean we're not going to drive again — it just means we had an accident with that one.' He laughed at me. He said, 'All right. I'll give it a try,' because he was unsure about how I would feel about helping with [another new artist]," he continued. "Obviously Dre can create the best possible production for the artist and groom him to the right space. But going to introduce him to the general public would be something you want 50 to go do."

Since their falling out post-Documentary, 50 has vowed never to work with Game again. And even though Game has reunited with Dre for the Detox LP as well as his own R.E.D. Album, 50 says he wouldn't consider jumping on a record featuring Game.

"No," Fif said flatly when asked what his response would be to Dre's request for a reunion collaboration. "No, I wouldn't do it. I'd be on a record, on a song, on the [Detox] album, but not on that record [with Game]. That's not making a song, that's making an event — things for people to talk about. ... So there's a verse there that you think would be great for both of us, I just say, 'Erase his verse and put something in better than that.' "

50 briefly addressed the role Dr. Dre played in his and Game's feud on Before I Self Destruct's "So Disrespectful."

"I said, 'I gave Game hits, he told me to suck di--/ Start screamin' Westside and Dre ain't say sh--!' " 50 recited.

"It was an absolute true statement and Dre approved because it was true," 50 continued. "He heard the record and was like, 'Whoa! Out the park with that.' He likes it, he doesn't care. Creatively, you're right, 'cause he didn't say anything when that took place — or not anything that the public heard."

Chris Brown On Dating: 'I've Been Kinda Chillin' '

Chris Brown is ready to move on with his life following his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

He has been sentenced and has begun his community labor and counseling; he's made the media rounds, apologizing for his actions; and he's gearing up for the release of his album next month. But when it comes to jumping back into the dating pool, the singer said that's on hold — for now.

"My whole dating thing, I've been kinda chillin'," he told MTV News. "I mean, I'm Chris Brown. I'm not saying it like that, but it's just, like, girls are gonna be around. I love women. But I would say I've just been chillin'. I haven't really been trying to get into a relationship or trying to date anybody. I've just kinda been working on me. Like I said, just really getting me straight."

Brown premiered his new video for "Crawl" on Friday during a brief appearance on "The Wendy Williams Show." The singer spoke about the song recently to MTV News and admitted it was inspired in part by his ex-girlfriend.

"When I heard the whole concept and everything, I was like, 'Yo, this is crazy,' " Brown said about the track. "So being able to express the feelings, it was like, probably one of the best [records I've done]. But it was more than me trying to do a record that meant crawl to love, crawl back to love — meaning whether it's from your negative situations, whether it's from any problems you've dealt with, like anybody's situation. Mine being my personal situation with shorty, but for anybody, for being inspired as far as it being the war or a death in the family, whether it's anything, anybody just crawl back to love. 'Cause love conquers everything. Love, at the end of the day, makes everybody happy."

The New Boyz have bust the door wide open, haven't they? The jerk movement is in full swing, with the Boyz, female duo the Bangz (Ella, we're going to keep you in our prayers) and today's Mixtape Daily subject Audio Push. West Coast isn't all gangsta music — the kids are trying to party.

This Week's Main Pick

Street Newcomers: Audio Push

Holding It Down For: San Bernardino, California

Mixtape: The Soundcheck

Real Spit: Cali teenagers Oktane and Pricetag are doing their part to take jerkin' from a fad dance to a movement. The duo's "Teach You How to Jerk" has become a YouTube blockbuster, and you have to check for their new record "Aviator" with Brandy. The duo's album isn't due until sometime next year, but they just put out a mixtape, The Soundcheck.

"We were in the airport, and we felt the soundcheck, before a big show, that's our preparation to make sure everything is ready, everything is right," said Price, who was in nursing school before his group started to blow up.

The fellas are slated to open up for Chris Brown on his Fan Appreciation Tour.

Joints To Check For

» "The Soundcheck Intro." "It's just setting the table for everything we do," Pricetag said. "How we prove ourselves in this whole music thing."

» "Up N Down." "That shows the other side of us," Oktane said. "By now, they know I sing. I'm singing on a lot of the record. Price always comes through and does his thing. That song is for the ladies. It's on a whole 'nother grown type of level. You're welcome in advance."

"Y'all gonna love it," Price insisted.

The Streets Is Talking: News & Notes From The Underground

Barring a holiday miracle, Gucci Mane will spend his album-release date — December 8 — in jail. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail last week for probation violation. Still, his camp said his spirits are high, and his lawyer notes that with extremely good behavior, he could be home in as little as two months, if a judge sees fit.

Gucc's friends in the A say that even with the jail time, his popularity won't die down.

"Gucci is the hottest rapper out," producer Zaytoven said. "Hopefully this is only a minor setback. Knowing Gucci, he always bounces back."

"You can't hold down a man like Gucci for long," Shawty Lo added. "His situation is unfortunate, but he'll be back on top in a few."

"I think for the moment, it's unfortunate, given the fact he's moving with a lot of features and has an album coming up," DJ Scream said. "But he has a genuine fanbase. His fanbase is so strong, he'll be able to come out and resume business as usual. I think it's messed up for right now that his album is coming out, but he's somebody the streets need. He's somebody that feeds the streets with a lot of mixtapes and songs."

The album won't be in stores until tomorrow, but you can hear Katy Perry's "Unplugged" performance Monday (November 16), on MTV.com.

Perry's set features stripped-down performances of her biggest hits (including a jazzy reworking of "I Kissed a Girl" and "Waking Up in Vegas"), and a pair of new songs: "Brick by Brick" (which is not to be confused with the Paramore tune) and a cover of Fountains of Wayne's "Hackensack."

The "Unplugged" special also features an extended interview with Perry in which she tells the stories behind her hits. MTV will also air highlights from the show across multiple on-air channels, including mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Tr3s. Oh, and in celebration of the digital premiere, MTV's morning all-music block, "AMTV," is currently airing performance videos taken from the taping. Palladia, MTV's high-definition television channel, will also air a half-hour version of the special on November 27 at 9 p.m. and midnight ET/PT.

The entire "Unplugged" performance will be available starting Tuesday (November 17) in both traditional album format, and a deluxe CD/DVD edition.

Fans can consider all this a holdover until Perry releases the follow-up to her massive One of the Boys album, though, by all accounts, it's sounding like a very unacoustic affair. She's cited Swedish pop acts like the Cardigans and Ace of Base as inspirations for the album, and she's reportedly writing songs with none other that Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, who knows a thing or two about making the party-hearty jams.

Britney Spears ' ... Baby One More Time' Video Director Looks Back

'I just love the song. It's just a great song,' Nigel Dick says.

In 1998, Britney Spears sauntered down the halls of high school, dressed in uniform, singing about the boy who broke her heart. " ... Baby One More Time" let the world know that a new pop starlet was in town.

"I decided to try this idea that someone had thrown at me and they hated it — they absolutely hated it," the video's director, Nigel Dick, told MTV News. "So I jumped on the phone with Britney and she says, 'Well, I now I think it should be about me in school and there be lots of hot boys around,' and that was pretty much it — oh, and a bunch of dancing. And my response was, 'OK.' "

In a 1998 interview with MTV, Spears revealed that she wanted the video to reflect the lives of her fans, so she wanted to set it in a school. "The first idea we had for the video was so off the wall," she said. "I was like, 'I want something a lot of kids can relate to.' It's just a fun video."

Britney's "Lolita"-esque schoolgirl look may have resonated with kids, but it didn't exactly please their parents. And Dick gives full credit to Spears for that idea. "My idea originally was just jeans and T-shirts, and we were at the wardrobe fitting and Britney holds up the jeans and T-shirts and says, 'Wouldn't I wear a schoolgirl outfit?' " he said. "Every piece of wardrobe in the video came from Kmart, and I was told at the time not one piece of clothing in the video cost more than $17. On that level, it's real. That probably, in retrospect, is a part of its charm."

Later on, in 2000, Britney would sit down with MTV and explain why she decided on the semi-risqué fashions. "Me showing my belly? I'm from the South; you're stupid if you don't wear a sports bra [when you] go to dance class, you're going to be sweating your butt off," she explained. "It was such a wonderful experience. All these people there, working for you. I had my own trailer. It was an amazing experience."

Dick said at the time all his colleagues wondered why he would want to work on a video for a 16-year-old unknown, but he had his reasons. "My response was, 'It's a great song. I don't know anything about Britney. I never watched the "Mickey Mouse Club." She seems like a great kid and she's very enthusiastic,' " he said. "But I just love the song. It's just a great song."

When Britney sat down with MTV in 1998, she echoed the sentiment, noting that as soon as she heard it, she knew she had to record the track. "It's a song every girl can relate to," she said. "She regrets it. She wants him back."

With the release of Britney Spears: The Singles Collection, MTV News is looking back on the pop star's career through interviews with video directors, music-industry insiders and Spears herself, as she reflects on some of her greatest hits. Keep coming back for all things Britney, and let us know your favorite Brit songs, videos, memories and more in the comments below!
