Game Is Prepared For A 'Never-Ending' Battle With Jay-Z

Jay-Z may be the king of rap, but when it comes to hip-hop rivalries, Game claims he's the king of battles.

Taking a break from his promotional tour in Amsterdam, the Game spoke with "The Boodah Brothers Show" on Norfolk, Virginia's 103 Jamz, responding to Jay's recent radio interview with the U.K.'s Tim Westwood.

"I ain't lost a rap beef to date, and when I say rap beef, I mean rap beef," Game said. "I ain't talking about no guns or shoot-outs or fighting. I'm just saying, this is hip-hop. It's a competition. We men. It's like football or basketball. It's competitive."

After countless verses name-dropping Mr. Carter, Game engaged Jay-Z in a full-on battle. The war of words was ignited when Jay mentioned Game's name, along with Jim Jones and Dame Dash, in a freestyle during the launch of his Blueprint 3 tour. Game immediately responded, going as far as dissing Beyoncé, questioning Jay's ability to father children and attacking the rapper's age.

Speaking out for the first time, Jay said his verse wasn't a dis but couldn't care less how it's perceived. "If that's a dis, then wear that," Jay told Westwood. "Tell groupie to get over it."

The Game, however, had a different perspective on Jay's bars: "What better way to talk about somebody than to not talk about 'em? Why you gotta say you're not talking about 'em? If you're not talking about them, then you just don't talk about 'em. He's slick, man. You gotta watch that cat, man. I'm probably the only rapper in this world besides Nas that's really not scared to go at this dude's neck. He knows if he goes to war with me, then it's going to be never-ending, man."

As was the case in his previous disses, the Game continued throwing darts at Jay-Z and his age, suggesting he move aside and let the new guys eat.

"Jay's problem is that some people just don't want to get old," Game said. "He got a problem like my dad got that problem. My dad, he just still trying to be young, like, rockin' fitted caps, and I'm like, 'Pops, you 60. You gotta chill.' Jay got that problem. He don't want to get old. It's cool to get old. But a lot of people have that problem, especially when they don't have children. But he don't got no children. I don't know what's up with that. Maybe he ain't fertile."

Recently, Jay touched on the harsh criticism he's received over the years regarding his age and being at the forefront of hip-hop music.

"I hear it all the time — 'Yo, he should let the young guys, the new generation of guys, come in,' " Jay told Reuters. "But you don't become the front-runner in music because someone lets you. You have to claim your shoes. ... If you grow up listening to hip-hop, you love hip-hop, and that's the end of it. But if you're a 30-year-old rapper still trying to make music like you're 15, then you're making it narrow. At my age, I can't relate to a 15-year-old. I deal with mature and relevant topics for my age group — it has to all be based on true emotions. The more diversity and the more mature we make hip-hop, the bigger the net you cast. ... Kanye is really the father to the next generation — he's from the school of Q-Tip, and now Drake and Kid Cudi are from the school of 'Ye. And, when you look at Kanye, you have to look at Lil Wayne. I think they're like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James."

As for the Game, he says you can expect another dis record — but only if Jay responds on wax, which is unlikely.

"If and when he does [respond], just be looking out for 400 bars," Game said. "It's not gonna be a joke. I'mma really put my pen down on a paper and really strike a match."

Whitney Houston has a very simple explanation for why it took so long to put out her forthcoming new album, I Look to You, and it has nothing to do with any personal drama she's experienced since releasing 2002's Just Whitney. She says she just wanted to make sure that it sounded right.

"Well, I can say taking your time and choosing carefully what fits you best always has worked for me," Houston told MTV News. "It took me three years to do my first album. The quickest album I have ever done was My Love Is Your Love — it took me eight months."

Houston, with Clive Davis at her side, explained that working with Davis on this album was like being "back at home," and added that they truly understand each other when it comes to making music together. "This time, I was back at home with whom I belong with," she laughed, looking to Davis. "We're good partners. We make a good team because we both love music. I'm talking about music with lyric, great melodies, standards that will last a lifetime for people."

Describing the effort as "a labor of love," she said Davis pushed her to her limits to make sure she put out her best possible music. "And [it was] work for me, cause he kept sending me back in there saying, 'Well, no, we got to do this again,' " she said.

In addition to having Davis' support on the record, Houston also worked with Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys and R. Kelly for the record. "But I'm humbled by the fact that people wanted to be a part of the album — were calling in saying, 'Man, I gotta get on there,' " she said. "I was humbled and I feel blessed about the whole project."

Michael Jackson's Doctor Isn't A Manslaughter Suspect, Spokeswoman Says

A spokeswoman for Edward Chernoff, the lawyer representing Michael Jackson's personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, said Friday (July 24) that media reports claiming the doctor is the subject of a manslaughter probe are not accurate.

A spokesperson for Chernoff told MTV News that a third interview between Murray and investigators is planned but not yet scheduled. In the meantime, spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik added: "As far as we know, Dr. Murray is still a witness in this case, not a suspect." Her comments came after the Los Angles Times reported that court records filed Thursday in Houston name Murray as a suspect in the criminal investigation that resulted in two different search warrants served on Wednesday at the doctor's Houston clinic and a storage unit in the area.

The search warrants said that investigators were looking for "items constituting evidence of the offense of manslaughter that tend to show that Dr. Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offense." After interviewing Murray twice and not saying whether he was a suspect, the court records offered the first public confirmation by police that Murray is the focus of their investigation. Sevcik said Chernoff has not been notified of any change in his client's status in regard to the investigation of what led to Jackson's death June 25.

"I do not know what they are looking for, and I can't possibly tell you how anything they took in any way connects with the death of Michael Jackson," Chernoff told the Times. Chernoff was present at both searches, and he stressed that his client did not give Jackson any narcotics or other medication that "should have" caused his death.

When contacted for confirmation of the manslaughter probe, spokespeople for the Los Angeles Police Department have said multiple times they could not comment on the investigation beyond saying that it is a search for clues into what caused the singer's death.

Murray was at his Las Vegas home Wednesday when the two searches took place in Houston, and authorities seized a raft of materials, including: vials of the weight-loss drug Phentermine and muscle relaxer Clonazepam; billing records; medication orders; shipping receipts; billing receipts; medical records; a photocopy picture of Dr. Murray; Rolodex cards; a bio on Dr. Murray; public-storage receipts; two computer hard drives; a medical-board certificate; letters to a former employee; a computer; e-mails from one of Murray's former employees; and unnamed "implements and instruments used in the commission of a crime."

The doctor was hired to be Jackson's personal physician at a rate of $150,000 a month and was at the singer's home last month when he found Jackson not breathing and administered CPR before paramedics arrived. On Friday, TMZ reported that two unnamed women who worked for Murray went to the doctor's storage locker on the day Jackson died and took three to five boxes of materials and put them in a car. It is not known what, if any, connection those files might have had to the Jackson case.

Will Heidi And Spencer Bring Religion To 'The Hills'?

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have never been particularly preachy on "The Hills," but it seems that lately the pair have become more open about their religious beliefs, discussing them in detail during their stint on "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" So does that mean the pair known as Speidi will bring religion to "The Hills" next?

Holly Montag, Heidi's older sister and occasional "Hills" co-star, shared her view on the matter. "I'm not sure. It's interesting, because Heidi has always been that way," she told MTV News. "There's never really been anything different about Heidi. Now she's been given a venue somehow where she's been able to express that more openly and freely that the public is finally aware of it."

Meanwhile, Spencer has only recently embraced religion and Holly isn't sure how that will affect his behavior on the show. "Spencer wasn't that religious before," she said. "So I don't know if it'll change his spirituality. Either way, Heidi ... I'm very proud of her. It's very cool to stand up for what you believe in. I think it's the coolest thing in the world."

Although Holly says she's "very religious as well," she admits that she's not as open about it as Speidi. "I'm open for discussions, and I always talk about my faith and how fortunate I am and blessed I am," she said, adding, "But the extreme measures they go to are a little bit different than how I choose to express myself."

Jay-Z has hip-hop fans listening to the radio the way whole families tuned in to fireside chats decades ago. The MC requested that the next record from The Blueprint 3, "Run This Town," make its radio debut at precisely 9:11 a.m. on Friday (July 24). Jay had teased info on the record earlier this week on Tim Westwood's U.K. radio show, revealing that the Kanye West-produced song featured Rihanna and 'Ye. You can't go wrong with that.

"Run This Town" starts off with Rihanna on the chorus. It's the first new music we've heard from the singer since her drama with Chris Brown in February.

"Feel it coming in the air," she sings. "Hear the screams from everywhere/ I'm addicted to the throne/ It's a dangerous love affair/ Can't be scared when it goes down/ Got a problem, tell me now/ Only thing that's on my mind is who's gonna run this town tonight?/ We gonna run this town."

"Get your fatigues on, all black everything," Jay-Z orders a few seconds into his first verse. He starts off telling the world to pledge their allegiance to Roc Nation before spitting, "Riding with their Dillingers/ I'll get more in Depp/ If you boys really real enough/ This is La Familia, I'll explain later/ But for now let me get back to this paper."

When Jay's verse is done, Rihanna's chorus changes: "Life's a game but it's not fair/ I break the rules, so I don't care/ So I keep doing my own thing/ Walking tall against the rain/ Victory's within the mile."

Jay follows up with more talk of his crew's dominance wherever they go, but still throws in a hip-hop reference: "Please follow the lea-dar/ So Eric B we are/ Microphone fiend/ It's the return of thee God/ Peace God/ Ain't nobody fresher."

Kanye West bats cleanup on the guitar-laden track. "It's crazy how you can go from being Joe Blow/ To everybody on your di--, no homo," Ye starts off. "I bought my whole family whips, no Volvos/ Next time I'm in church, please no photos .../ We give a damn about the drama that your dude bring/ I'm just trying to change the color on your mood ring."

Jay previously released "D.O.A." from The Blueprint 3, which arrives in stores on September 11.

Jordin Sparks Is Just As Amused By Jonas Brothers' Costumes As Fans

Jordin Sparks is just as amused by all those unusual Jonas Brothers tour costumes as the rest of us. It's hard not to love seeing Joe Jonas dressed up as grapes while rehearsing during their big summer tour.

And Sparks, who is warming up for the brothers on the tour, can't really explain this new phenomenon.

"I have witnessed it, and I don't know where it came from," the season-six "American Idol" champ told MTV News. "[Joe] just started that maybe a couple days ago, a week ago. I think the first time, he's like, 'You got to check out my outfit; you gotta be sure you watch the soundcheck!' ... I was like, 'What are you doing?' "

Her favorite of the costumes — which has also included Joe and some of the band dressing as the three little pigs — is the grape costume, which led to quite an interesting misunderstanding.

"It was like he dressed up as the Fruit of the Loom grape, which was awesome," she said, adding, "I felt uncomfortable, because they were like, 'Hey, go feel his grapes!' I was like, 'Ah, no thanks!' "

But if you think she has some insider info on where the costumes come from because she's on tour with the JoBros, think again. "I have no idea," she said. "I want to know where he gets them, 'cause that grape costume was awesome."

Jordin's sophomore album, Battlefield, dropped Tuesday.

Mariah Carey Says Doing Drag For 'Obsessed' Was Nick's Idea

'I look like my brother and my cousin Chris,' Mimi says of video character everyone compares to Eminem.

Is it Eminem or isn't it? Well, Mariah Carey herself insists that the stalker she played in her "Obsessed" video looks more like one of her male relatives than the rapper.

"Everybody started having their own speculations about who the stalker was," she told MTV News. "I'm like, look, when I look at that stalker and me with the beard and the whole 9 yards, I look like my cousin Chris. I do. I look like my brother and my cousin Chris. So basically, you know, all the speculation about who I'm playing in the video, it's not accurate."

Since Nick Cannon and the video's director, Brett Ratner, have also said that the song and video aren't about Eminem, maybe it is just a crazy coincidence.

So who thought to put Carey in drag for the video? Ratner has said that Carey was the brain behind the getup, but the singer said that it was actually her hubby, Cannon, who thought up the idea to dress his ultra-feminine wife as a man. "Well, I live for a disguise, but ... I love the anonymity of it," she said. "But actually it was Nick's idea, 'cause we were going after different comedians, comediennes."

Though Carey credits Cannon for the brilliant idea, she also says she was able to pull it off thanks to all the acting she's been doing. "The thing is that Nick was like, 'Why don't you just play the stalker?' and I'm like, 'I could do that 'cause I've been acting lately,' " she explained. "I've done a lot of different things and I'm very proud of the work that I've done lately, but the thing is that this was the chance to work with Brett Ratner."

Amy Winehouse Acquitted In Fan Assault

Singer says she was 'scared' when dancer Sherene Flash approached her at London charity event.
By Gil Kaufman

A day after she testified that she was too small to have assaulted an overly aggressive fan, Amy Winehouse was acquitted of charges that she punched a dancer at a charity ball last year. Winehouse, 25, looking healthier and more clear-eyed than she has in months, told a London court on Thursday that despite her signature towering beehive and swaggering demeanor, she was intimidated when dancer Sherene Flash approached her to take a picture at the event in London in September.

According to the Guardian, Winehouse said she was "relieved and going" home on Friday (July 24) after a district judge dismissed the charges by Flash, who admitted that she was a bit "tipsy" when her right eye had a run-in with Winehouse's fist after the Prince's Trust Ball. "Having heard the evidence from all the witnesses, I cannot be sure that this was not an accident," judge Timothy Workman said. His words reportedly confused Winehouse at first — the singer fanned herself with a notebook as her lawyer clarified the not-guilty verdict for her.

The judge's decision came a day after Winehouse testified that she had felt scared and intimidated when burlesque dancer Flash, who is at least 3 or 4 inches taller than the "Rehab" singer, "lunged at me and put her arm around me." Winehouse said she would have gladly posed for the backstage picture with Flash and had simply asked the dancer to wait while she said goodbye to a friend, denying that she knowingly struck the woman in the eye.

"I pushed her up, like away," said Winehouse, who explained that she was on hand to see her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield headlining her first gig. "I wanted her away from me. ... I was scared. I thought, 'People are mad these days, people are just rude and mad, or people can't handle their drink.' I didn't know what she was doing. She lunged at me and put her arm around me. She was just drunk."

Winehouse told the judge, "I was scared. I'm not Mickey Mouse. I'm a human being." The troubled singer, who has a colorful history of drug issues and sometimes-violent interactions with fans, denied being a prima donna when questioned about her lifestyle. "I'm not like that," she said. "I'm not a Jennifer Lopez — paint the room white before I get there and I want five bunches of lilies."

In the end, the judge decided the case after hearing all the evidence, noting that just about all the witnesses were drunk at the time of the incident. "The two accounts are irreconcilable and I have had therefore to examine carefully the evidence of other witnesses," he said. "Whilst I accept that all the witnesses have endeavored to give an accurate account of the events, all but two of them were under the influence of alcohol to varying degrees." He also said the medical evidence presented by the prosecution didn't show "the sort of injury that often occurs when there is a forceful punch to the eye." None of the other witnesses said they saw Winehouse throw the punch.

Winehouse, who was recently granted a divorce from Blake Fielder-Civil, has been working on the follow-up to her Grammy-winning Back to Black album, but no release date has been announced for the disc.
