HOLLYWOOD, California — Lo Bosworth said she will be attending the Saturday wedding of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt in California. But, like some of her "Hills" comrades, she still hasn't found the perfect gift for the happy couple.

"I haven't gotten them a gift yet," she told MTV News. "But don't tell!"

Like Spencer's sister, Stephanie, Lo was hopeful about the pair's chances of staying together once they finally make it official on Saturday. "I think this time they're going to do it," she said, referring to Heidi and Spencer's past attempts to get married and to their apparent relationship issues, which have resurfaced on this season of "The Hills." "I think so. I hope for them."

On Tuesday, at the Paley Center for Media event in Hollywood honoring "The Hills," the show's executive producers confirmed that they'd be filming the wedding this weekend. "It's a big, gigantic event that takes the two of them to pull off," exec producer Adam DiVello told the audience.

And although the cast (minus Speidi) was together onstage Tuesday night, it seems that two notable people won't be present on Saturday: Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port.

"Um, those are not in my plans, no," Lauren said of the wedding. And Whitney said, "I just found out about it yesterday, so I guess I wasn't invited, but that's OK. Maybe it's smaller. I'm not offended."

Rick Ross Wants To Battle Eminem

Rick Ross is high on life. The reviews of his Deeper Than Rap album are in, they're positive, and the Miami slang sultan is all smiles. While in his hometown yesterday, he elaborated on a comment he made to DJ Envy last week in New York during an interview on Envy's satellite radio show. Ross said he was done with 50 Cent and may turn his focus to Eminem.

Speaking to MTV News, Ricky explained whether he meant competing with Slim Shady in rhyme battles or just making hit records.

"I mean, I'm a fan of Eminem," he said. "I'm a fan first and foremost. But after defeating Curly, my confidence is at an all-time high. Maybe before I wouldn't have challenged him, but I'm contemplating it now. The game is commending me for my victory. That's all I wanted to do was ... punish the opposition. I think I've done a great job and I'm gonna continue to do that."

Ross says opposing Em in a lyrical back-and-forth would stir his adrenaline more than his beef with 50 Cent.

"I think he's a bigger and better artist than what Curly is," Ross said. "So if I was looking to fulfill that excitement or that rush, that's who I have to address."

Maybe instead of a few rounds of Rick Ross versus Eminem, we may see a Rick Ross and Eminem collaboration — the Bawse also says he wants to guest star on Em's upcoming Relapse LP.

"I'm trying to be a part of that," Ross said. "It's either way. We gonna see each other one way or another."

On Tuesday, Ross' Deeper Than Rap hit stores, and he spent his late afternoon and evening signing autographs with DJ Khaled at the BrandsMart store in North Miami.

"It's something that's really heartfelt to me, being that I put so much into the music. It's a wonderful feeling," Ross said about the album dropping.

Photos have surfaced of Rihanna and her pal, Katy Perry, vacationing together in Barbados. The duo were snapped on a boat Tuesday in Rihanna's home country.

Perry recently opened up to MTV News about her friendship with the singer, who was allegedly attacked by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February, saying that tabloid rumors of Perry reaching out to the singer after the incident have been exaggerated.

"I don't think I really, like, reached out to her. We're friends and we're both kind of on this crazy roller coaster, and ... it's nice to have good girlfriends. I pride myself on having cool chicks in my life, and she's a cool chick," Perry said. "We've hung out a couple times."

Perry went on to say that one rumor that hasn't been exaggerated is the one about them being buddies. "Of course I consider her a friend, but it's not like 'I'm there,' making a big deal of it, because I feel weird about that type of stuff. I'm trying to always be there for my friends," she said. "She's a really cool chick. I love her style. ... She's one of those unaffected people."

The two had also been rumored to be planning a Puerto Rican holiday together, gossip that Perry denied — possibly because the intended vacation spot was Barbados. "Um, you know, we're just buddies. We've had dinner, and that's about it," she said. "Her personal life has probably already been blown, I don't really have to go into that. I'm sure she probably wants a break."

'The City' Star Whitney Port Not Attending Spencer And Heidi's Wedding

It seems like everyone in the "Hills" universe was invited to Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's wedding this weekend, even Spencer's archenemy Lauren Conrad. But it also seems like one invitation got lost in the mail — or maybe Whitney Port didn't make the approved guest list.

"I'm not [going]," Whitney told MTV News at the Paley Center for Media event honoring "The Hills" at the Arclight Hollywood's Cinerama Dome on Tuesday night. "I just found out about it yesterday, so I guess I wasn't invited — but that's OK."

In fact, Whitney still wishes the pair known as Speidi no ill will. "Maybe it's smaller," she said of the wedding. "I'm not offended."

In fact, Whitney is so cool with the snub that she hasn't ruled out getting them a gift to celebrate finally making it official after a couple false starts. "I should ... I don't know, maybe I'll have to look at the registry," she said. "I'm assuming Heidi's registered somewhere. I have no idea!"

Well, if she's looking for hints, she won't find any from her former "Hills" castmate Audrina Patridge. She also has no idea where the couple is registered. "I'm gonna have to shopping tomorrow or soon and, you know, maybe they're registered at somewhere," Audrina said. "I'm not sure yet [where they're registered] I'm gonna talk to Heidi."

Unlike Spencer's sister, Stephanie Pratt, who thinks the pair will last forever, Whitney was not willing to place any amount of money on how long they'll remain Speidi. "I'm not a betting woman," she said. "I'd rather save the money."

New York radio station Hot 97 released a lineup of hip-hop, R&B and reggae artists on Wednesday (April 22), revealing a hefty chunk of its Summer Jam roster.

Mary J. Blige is leading the charge, with fellow crooners T-Pain, The-Dream and former Pretty Ricky lead singer Pleasure P also tapped to perform. Elephant Man, Mavado and Serani will be representing the reggae contingent, while the hip-hop acts include three of NYC's favorite sons: Diplomats Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, as well as one-third of the LOX, Jadakiss. Summer Jam vet and Atlanta general Young Jeezy is also on the bill, while "30 Rock" star and former "Saturday Night Live" castmember Tracy Morgan will host.

As always, the radio station is promising an unadvertised surprise guest.

Past showstoppers included Jay-Z bringing out Michael Jackson; Alicia Keys parading out a host of hip-hop legends, including Public Enemy; and Rick Ross showing up without his shirt to tear things down. Last year, Kanye West made headlines by joining Lil Wayne onstage for the remix of "Lollipop" — and admitting that Weezy had the best set of the night (that had to be a first!).

Heralded in the urban community as one of the biggest concerts of the year, Summer Jam is set for June 7 at its home of the past several years, Giants Stadium. Hot 97 has teased that more performers will be added to the bill in the days leading to the concert.

Green Day's Greatest Video Moments

Before the anticipated premiere of 'Know Your Enemy,' we take a look back at some of the band's greatest celluloid moments.
By James Montgomery

Over the course of 15 years, Green Day have been snotty, silly and serious, and their music videos reflect that. They've done low-budget, big-budget and no-budget, and have worked with some of the biggest names in the business.

Through it all, they've compiled a video catalog that's loaded with iconic clips, ones that you've seen a million times before and know every frame of — plus a few that might have slipped by. So, in celebration of their hotly anticipated "Know Your Enemy" video (which will premiere on more than 250 MTV online and on-air outlets), we've decided to take a look back at Green Day's music-video history.

From pimple-faced punks to world-weary troubadours, it's been quite a voyage — and here are some of the highlights:

"Longview" (directed by Mark Kohr): A song about the dazed and dumb in suburbia (to the point where wanking becomes a source of entertainment) and a video that's about largely the same thing (Billie Joe Armstrong manhandles a monkey — get it?). Somehow it all worked, and "Longview" has become a classic. Highlights include Armstrong stabbing a couch with a knife, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt keeping the beat while crammed in a bathroom and a showering of feathers at clip's end. But you knew all that already.

"Basket Case" (directed by Mark Kohr): A Technicolor whirl of pills, goldfish and grotesquely masked mental patients. (I've had nightmares like this, though instead of Green Day rocking out, it's usually the Hamburglar. And he's chasing after me. AAAAAAH!)

"When I Come Around" (directed by Mark Kohr): The clip that launched a thousand horizontally striped sweaters. Green Day wander the streets of San Francisco while the lives of sad citizens (a guy in a bathrobe, a girl dressed like Marie Antoinette, an old man in a wheelchair) play out around them. Look out for a special appearance by then-pal, now touring member Jason White, who can be seen making out with his girlfriend in the clip. There is also a live version of the video, taken from the band's infamous mud-slinging appearance at Woodstock '94.

"Geek Stink Breath" (directed by Mark Kohr): Gnarly song, even gnarlier video. A friend —White again? — gets a rotted tooth pulled from his head and Green Day decide to film it for their video. Much blood ensues. A clip that grossed out pretty much everyone, including MTV programmers who deemed the footage too gruesome to be shown during daytime hours.

"Brain Stew/Jaded" (directed by Kevin Kerslake): Two videos in one! The first is a sickly, sepia-toned slog through a landfill (complete with Hula dancers, a stern-faced teacher and a horse that keeps falling down); the second a manic, super-saturated spin-out in what appears to be Armstrong's trash-strewn clubhouse. Somehow, this all works.

"Hitching a Ride" (directed by Mark Kohr): Welcome to the Nimrod era. Green Day do vaudeville (Armstrong's bow tie is truly a sight to behold), then rock out at a speakeasy while a giant-headed Kewpie doll dances the Charleston. Armstrong also battles a giant dude in a white suit — confusing, but awesome. Definitely an underappreciated tune and video.

"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" (directed by Mark Kohr): Another instant classic and the soundtrack to 10,000 senior proms. Little more than Armstrong and his acoustic (plus, an inexplicable one-second cameo by Jason Priestley), the video would also become iconic and would garner Green Day their first MTV Video Music Award, for Best Alternative Video.

"Minority" (directed by Evan Bernard): Green Day kick off the Warning era by throwing themselves a parade, complete with paper-mâché float, punk-rock accordion players and giant balloons in their likenesses. Armstrong also manages to sneak a middle finger by the censors too. Shhh, don't tell anyone.

"American Idiot" (directed by Samuel Bayer): Welcome to the comeback. A big, booming video, "Idiot" announced Green Day's return to dominance and marked the beginning of their collaborations with Bayer, a director who works on the massive, to say the least. The video is full of iconic images, including a melting American flag, a flood of green slime and exploding speakers. And, of course, since Bayer's at the helm, the whole thing takes place in a giant abandoned hangar.

"Holiday" (directed by Samuel Bayer): The opening title sequence (yep, there's a title sequence) mimics Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove." The video itself is a nightmarish spin through Las Vegas, à la "Fear and Loathing." The band also take on multiple personas, including a velvety Elvis, a puking preacher and a crusty punk. Everyone ends up spun-out and lost in the desert, which leads us directly into ...

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (directed by Samuel Bayer): ... the "Boulevard" clip, which shows us the inevitable hangover after the holiday. To give the footage an extra-grainy look, Bayer slashed the film with a razor blade, poured coffee on it and burned it with cigarettes. All that abuse paid off, as "Boulevard" would walk away with six VMAs, including Video of the Year.

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" (directed by Samuel Bayer): How do you top the success of "Boulevard"? Why, with an epic clip starring Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood as a pair of star-crossed lovers torn apart by the war in Iraq, that's how! Stretching more than seven minutes in length, the video dared to portray the conflict in Iraq in a negative (realistic?) light and drew the ire of several conservative pundits. Meaning that, nearly a dozen years after their first video blasted onto the scene, Green Day were still finding new definitions of the term "punk."

Hawthorne Heights Aim To Prove 'Everybody' Wrong With New Album

Posted: 23 Apr 2009 04:50 AM PDT

'It feels like we're starting over again,' drummer Eron Bucciarelli tells MTV News
By James Montgomery

Hawthorne Heights haven't forgotten about last year's Fragile Future album, even if you have.

By most accounts, the band's third album — their first without guitarist Casey Calvert, who died of an accidental mixture of medications in November 2007 — was a disappointment. It failed to match the success of their first two efforts, The Silence in Black and White (which went gold) and If Only You Were Lonely (which debuted at #3 on the Billboard album charts).

Of course, the guys in Hawthorne Heights tend to view things a little differently.

"We don't view it as a failure. The entire process was very therapeutic, and we had to get it off our chest. For us, it's an incredible accomplishment," drummer Eron Bucciarelli told MTV News. "I mean, I guess we were a little surprised ... but when you mix the current climate of the industry with legal matters we had, you know, that's the reason why it didn't do that well. It would've been nice if it sold more, sure."

It's sort of easy now to see that Fragile Future was destined to fail. After all, in the year leading up to its release, HH were involved in a lengthy — and nasty — legal dispute with their label, Victory Records, one that they unexpectedly shelved so they could begin recording the album. Of course, when it came out, Victory wasn't all that interested in sinking tons of money into promoting it, and Future quickly sank into oblivion.

"The promo wasn't behind Fragile Future," Bucciarelli said. "I don't want to discredit [Victory founder] Tony [Brummel] and say he did nothing whatsoever. He put some money into it. ... But with our previous albums, he stuck with them throughout the whole process. ... Here, he got the record to a certain point, but he didn't continue with it.

"I guess I feel like it wasn't promoted as heavily as the first two records, and I can't say I don't understand the reasoning behind that," he continued. "It was our last record for Victory and had been through the wringer with lawsuit. So, at some point, they just decided it wasn't worth sinking more money into."

Early this year, Hawthorne announced on their Web site that they had signed with Wind-up Records and had begun working on a follow-up to Fragile Future. Since then, they've been spending time in New York writing and demoing, and they have plans to head out to Los Angeles to begin recording with producer Howard Benson.

Bucciarelli said that, ideally, they'd love to have the record out this year, but there's "no pressure" from anyone. Basically, HH are getting back to being a band, free of drama and bizarre expectations. But they'd be lying if they didn't feel like they've got something to prove this time around. To everyone.

"To be honest, it feels like we're starting over again, and it's sort of a liberating experience. There's no pressure to produce a massive, massive hit, no pressure to finish, to follow up the last record. We're focusing on the career of the band," he said. "But having said all that, we still have a lot to prove on this one. We want to prove to everybody — not just Tony and that label, but to everyone — that we're still here, we're still making good music ... that we're relevant."

Mike Tyson Comments On Chris Brown: 'He's Just A Baby'

'He don't know how to handle his emotions when it comes to a woman,' Tyson says of Brown/Rihanna situation.

Few people can say they identify with what Chris Brown might be feeling in the wake of his alleged altercation with Rihanna, but Mike Tyson is one of them.

The former heavyweight champ — whose life is the subject of the new documentary "Tyson," set for release on Friday — has a history of legal trouble involving women. While he was married to actress Robin Givens in the late 1980s, their relationship was plagued with accusations of violence and spousal abuse against Tyson. And in the early '90s, Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington and served three years in prison.

When asked about Brown by MTV News this week, Tyson said, "It's none of my business, but you know what I say about that? I understand the situation. I understand passion with young kids.

"My personal opinion about that is, he's just a baby," he continued, with a tone of empathy toward the 19-year-old Brown. "He's just a little baby that don't know how to handle his emotions when it comes to a woman. And he probably hears this and thinks, 'I know how to handle my emotions'; we all think we do. But the fact [is], you look at this person and you might be crazy in love, but we don't know how to handle those feelings."

While there are obviously many differences between his situation and Brown's, Tyson said he believes a different mentality is prevalent these days. "Now you're a fly guy and a cool guy, you have this pimp mentality. You have to be hard like that."

Tyson was also extremely contrite about his history of violence toward women. "You can't abuse them," he said. "It's really sick what you [can] do. She has a space in your heart and you believe you care about her more than anybody in the world.

"Do I think it's right to beat up a woman? No — hell no," he continued. "Have I hit a woman before? Hell yeah. Was I wrong? Hell yeah. I'm a product of that environment. Do I regret ever doing that? Hell yeah. Would I do it again? Never."

Rick Ross Says 50 Cent Is 'Finished'

Rick Ross experienced a rush of publicity leading up to the Tuesday release of his third album, Deeper Than Rap, with the anthem-like hits "Magnificent" and "Maybach Music 2" and his war of words with 50 Cent.

But the Miami artist is being accused of ratcheting up the beef to promote his project — just as Fif has been accused in the past. Ross denied the claim when he sat down with MTV News in New York, although he did call the situation "a platform for me."

"You don't think about the marketing," Ross said of the feud, which went public in January of this year with the release of his track "Mafia Music." "See, first of all, you know it's not about marketing, but most definitely the difference in this situation is that I was much more prepared than anyone anticipated [in the feud], being that all my moves have been pluses. I released 'Mafia Music,' not only was it a classic record, but it's a single on my album. We shot a video, it's on MTV, so we getting our point across, and not only that, but we are making timeless records.

"At the end of the day, that's what it's about for me: #1's, big moves," he continued.

Recently, Ross declared he's done battling with 50, saying in interviews that his victory over the G-Unit star has given him a newfound confidence. The rapper even said he might test his newly increased swagger by challenging 50's boss, Eminem.

"When I say someone like a 50 Cent is finished, I don't mean that he can't go to the studio and release an album," Ross said. "I'm pretty sure he can release as many albums he wants for the rest of his career. But I mean, can he capture Get Rich or Die Tryin' [again]? It's a difference when someone is on the way up and when someone is on the way down. It's a big difference. It's a big difference in selling 10 million of your debut and one-point-whatever [million] on your last one. It's a big difference. I'm pretty sure the executives look at the number, they're trimming budgets, they're trimming this, they're trimming that. At the end of the day, that's what I'm talking about. He's had a nice run."

Beyonce Comments On Fake 'Screeching' Tape

Off-key performance aired by Howard Stern turns out to be a hoax.

On Tuesday, Howard Stern played what he claimed to be the unedited board mix of Beyoncé's performance of "If I Were a Boy" from a "Today" show appearance last year — at times, the performance is rather excruciatingly off-key.

On Wednesday (April 22), Beyoncé commented about the allegations exclusively to MTV News — and when she said the report was "ridiculous," she was right: TMZ reported late Wednesday afternoon that the tape was a hoax.

"Of course I'm just hearing about this today — and I haven't heard it but it sounds completely ridiculous," Beyoncé said at the junket for her forthcoming film "Obsessed." "Everyone's heard me sing and it's perfect timing, actually, because I'll be on the 'Today' show tomorrow singing 'Halo,' or tonight you can watch me sing live on David Letterman! It's perfect promotion, whoever came up with that idea."

TMZ's report also vindicated Beyoncé's dad and manager, Mathew Knowles, who released a statement claiming that the tape had been tampered with.

"If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them," he wrote. "If no one took the time to listen to Beyoncé sing 'America the Beautiful' and 'At Last' at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyoncé's vocal ability, they've gotta be an idiot."

He went on to say that "At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered."
