When "Making the Band" returned for its fourth season earlier this year, only two girls, Aundrea Fimbres and Dawn Richard, returned to try and piece together their careers on Bad Boy and as members of Danity Kane.

After going almost the whole season without revealing the group's fate, Diddy shared with the girls on Thursday night that he had formally let Aubrey O'Day and D. Woods (whom he'd fired at the end of last season), as well as Shannon Bex (who decided not to return to the show) out of their Bad Boy contracts.

But the real kicker came when he also announced that he'd also be letting Fimbres out of her contract. "You're a great person, you're a great girl, but if I did another group, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing a group with you," he told her. "I've given a lot of thought and I'm gonna let you out your contract too."

He then revealed to the girls that he would be keeping Richard on at Bad Boy. "As far as for you, Dawn, I still want to make music with you. I still want you to be signed to the label," he said. "And if I decide to put back together Danity Kane, then you'll be the only member that'd still be there."

He continued, "This isn't a decision I wanted to make. To be honest, y'all girls made this decision for me."

After being let out of her contract, Fimbres said, "We worked really, really hard to be where we are, and for it to end the way that it did sucks," she said. "But I can't be mad. I've done the things that I came here to do.

"I'm connected to them for the rest of my life because of something we accomplished together," she added. "Danity Kane will always be D., Aubrey, Shannon, Dawn and me."

On Thursday, Diddy Tweeted about his decision. "To all the Danity Kane fans-i truly am sorry. I really did my best.. I'm lookin fwd 2 makin another female band! Thank u 4 all ur support!!!" he wrote. "At the end of the day i just want people to be happy.. if Danity Kane couldn't be happy together, i'd rather they be happy apart. All love!!!"

The live season finale is set for next Thursday, and there is Internet chatter that all of Danity Kane's former members will make an appearance on the show.

Mandy Moore Says Husband Ryan Adams Can Audition For Her Band

'If he ever needs a job or something,' jokes the singer, whose album Amanda Leigh drops in May.

Mandy Moore recently married indie rocker Ryan Adams, and — for now at least — she'd like to keep their relationship strictly matrimonial.

"Lots of exciting things going on in my world right now. I'm very happy — very, very happy," said the singer, whose album Amanda Leigh drops in May. "And in terms of collaborating in the future, I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility, but right now, I'm kind of just psyched about this record and getting my band on the road."

She did say that she might be able to find a spot for her husband on the road — if he's willing to put in the work. "You know, if he ever needs a job or something, maybe he can audition for the band," she joked. "Other than that, I think we'll both just stick to being supportive of each other on the sidelines."

Moore said Adams is supporting her these days by teaching her guitar and piano, calling him her "in-home teacher" during an interview with Details. And Moore revealed to MTV News that aside from the Ryan Adams School of Guitar and Piano, she's also learning bass. No word if Adams is also her bass teacher.

"I'm learning bass right now, so I'll potentially show some bass skills off onstage, but only on the easy songs," she said, adding, "I know guitar a little bit, and I play a little bit of piano, both kind of terribly, but I always think its pretty badass when you see a female bass player."

Is Oprah The Beginning Of The End For Twitter?

Posted: 17 Apr 2009 04:31 AM PDT

Talk-show host's involvement has some worried about the micro-blogging site's future.
By Daniela Capistrano

Oprah uses Twitter for the first time on Friday
Photo: ABC

Three years after launching as an innocuous micro-blogging site, Twitter officially has a king and queen. One is a professional prankster and Web entrepreneur; the other is a daytime talk-show host and media mogul.

Early Friday (April 17) on her show, Oprah crowned Ashton Kutcher the "King of Twitter" after beating CNN in the race to 1 million followers. Oprah also inadvertently appointed herself as Twitter royalty while making her first Tweet, to the delight of more than 30,000 Twitter users who were already breathlessly waiting her first update — a number that has grown to 160,000 and counting after Tweeting, "HI TWITTERS. THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY."

Although appearing slightly perplexed by the functionality of Twitter at first — on her show, she questioned how one could tell "if it's a fake person or not" — Oprah's final verdict on Twitter was that "it's really cool," to the delight (and dismay) of Twitter users and journalists tracking its evolution.

Is it safe to say that Oprah is the Twitter Tipping Point?

Celebrities from Britney Spears to Jimmy Fallon to David Lynch already use the site (even President Barack Obama has an account) to send 140-character updates to their fans, who have joined to follow their every move, but their influence pales in comparison to the power of the Oprah empire.

The irony of Friday's benchmark for Twitter is that Oprah doesn't need Twitter. With even the slightest mention on her various platforms, Oprah has sent unknown authors to the top of the bestseller list, turned guests on her show into international stars and made box-office sales rise or fall. People will still tune in to her show even if they don't know what she had for breakfast this morning.

(Find out what Jim Cantiello hopes the Queen of Daytime will Tweet about, in the Newsroom blog.)

The celebrity migration to Twitter has garnered complaints from tech-savvy communities. Some predict that @oprah's participation will create a deluge of fickle users simply signing up to respond, comment and Tweet details, only to quickly move on to something else.

But isn't that what everyone said about Friendster, MySpace and Facebook? Social-media platforms inevitably are infiltrated by marketers and individuals using the space to promote goods and services. Many Oprah fans have certainly been waiting for this opportunity to communicate directly with their favorite daytime host as a way to get on her show.

Oprah suddenly "discovering" Twitter (is a woman as intelligent as she is really just discovering it?) demonstrates how social media is increasingly moving into the mainstream, with push-vs.-pull communication becoming an unavoidable requirement to remain relevant in a world of seemingly endless entertainment options.

Whether you choose to leave Twitter in lieu of FriendFeed or obsessively follow a celebrity's every Tweet, the Oprah effect has left its mark and things will never be the same.

Who do you follow on Twitter? How do you use the service? If you don't like Twitter, why? Tell us in the comments!

Rick Ross Offends Trick Daddy With Lupus Lyric

'I would like to apologize to everyone suffering with lupus,' Trick Daddy says of Ross' 'Valley of Death' line.

Trick Daddy expressed to MTV News that he has not taken too kindly to Rick Ross addressing his condition on the song "Valley of Death." The song, on Ross' upcoming Deeper Than Rap, contains the lines, "Caught a little case, buddy had a little cheddar/ Pled out to 15, poured his life in a letter/ Very first line he called Trick Daddy stupid/ Said he had AIDS telling people that it's lupus/ Not the one just to jump to conclusions/ I'm getting money, small talk can be a nuisance."

The rhyme doesn't sound as if Ross himself is making the accusations, but rather someone in prison he was corresponding with. However, Trick still questions why "false" claims are being brought up and, regardless of the Boss' intentions, Trick says his disease shouldn't be taken lightly.

"Millions of people are stricken with lupus," Trick said. "I have stayed out of the bullsh--, I will continue to stay out of it. Ross had been with Slip-N-Slide Records as long as I have been with Slip-N-Slide Records. He's known I've had lupus for 10 years. I was referred to my doctor by Ted Lucas who is the head of Slip-N-Slide Records. I would like to apologize to everyone suffering with lupus. I would like to apologize for the insults."

Ross did insult Trick in a video that recently surfaced online. In the clip, Ross — after being told by the interviewer that it was Trick Daddy telling people that Rick was a prison guard — had venomous words for his then-labelmate and sometime collaborator.

"That video is, like, three or four years old," Trick explained. "It only just leaked. Somebody said, 'How you feel about Trick Daddy saying you're a prison guard?' I ain't never said that. He fell for that. Me and Ross had a conversation after that. I said, 'I'm not interested in fake beefing with you.' I'm not interested in beefing period — I have never been. I'd rather focus on getting money and building my company Dunk Ryders."

Ironically, Trick just completed a deal with Ross' former manager.

"E-Class — he's working with me," Trick revealed. "We're on the same team. He's joining our labels together, he's doing my management, we're getting money. This is something we should have done a long time ago. I've always respected E-Class, he's always respected me."

Deeper Than Rap hits stores April 21. Meanwhile, Trick Daddy's new album is still in production and being prepared for a June 30 release.

Police arrested a 26-year-old woman in camouflage gear who snuck into the gated Calabasas, California, community that is home to Britney Spears on Thursday. E! Online reports that Miranda Tozier-Robbins was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and disorderly conduct after officers saw her peeking into the windows of Spears' home.

A private guard in the gated community reportedly asked Tozier-Robbins to leave the area and when she did not comply, he called the police and physically escorted her from the premises. Tozier-Robbins, who in addition to her camo fatigues was reportedly carrying a backpack and a video camera, auditioned for season five of "American Idol" in October 2005, singing the Spears song "Everytime," and made it to the second round of cuts that season, after missing out on a trip to Hollywood the previous year. Tozier-Robbins' "Idol" blog lists her as a student at the New England Institute of Art and has her admitting, "I have issues but I'm working on them."

Spears has been back in Los Angeles this week, performing two shows at the Staples Center on Thursday and Friday night, but she was not home at the time that Tozier-Robbins was apprehended. The alleged trespasser was originally held on $5,000 bail, but was released after agreeing to return to a Malibu court on June 16.

Tozier-Robbins' mother, Barbara, told E! that she was shocked by the arrest, saying, "You are kidding. ... I knew she was a fan of [Britney]. I don't know why she would go there. ... She's never been in trouble before. I guess she just wanted to see Britney."

Hot Boys Move Forward With Reunion Plans

'I already signed the deal,' Juvenile tells Vibe magazine
By Shaheem Reid

It looks like the long-awaited Hot Boys reunion is out of the talking stages and getting serious. Money has been spent to ensure the reunion happens.

"I already signed the deal," Juvenile told Vibe contributor Alison Fensterstock in March. The interview went up on Vibe.com Thursday.

"So for me, I'm gonna definitely say it's a go," Juvenile said. "I already received the check. Wayne is going to put that out, so for me and Wayne, it's a go. I don't know if the business been straightened out, but I know B.G.'s on board and he's willing to do it. I don't know where Turk stands on the business side."

Last year, Hot Boy alums Lil Wayne, B.G. and Juvenile were hyped to join each other onstage at a New Orleans club. But before they had a chance to make it to the venue, shots rang out outside the club and the party was shut down.

"It was going to be a big, historic moment," B.G. told MTV News. "I was just saying that everybody was cool during the All-Star Weekend, then they start shooting. Why'd they have to shoot up on our night? Guess that's Chopper City for ya."

When we spoke to Lil Wayne that same day, Weezy said he was not going to the club to get with his old group but was open to working with them in the future. Late last year before the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Weezy told Mixtape Monday a reunion was in the works, but didn't know when it would launch.

Since the Hot Boys' breakup — amidst business fallouts with Slim and Baby, the heads of Cash Money Records — they've traded disses with one another and reconciled. Last year Juvenile suffered the murder of his daughter, while B.G. was supposed to drop a solo LP on Atlantic Records, but that never surfaced.

Universal Records, Cash Money's distributor, had no comment as to when the album will be released.

Cobra Starship, Leighton Meester Collaborating On New Song

Band hands off 'I Make Good Girls Go Bad' to 'Gossip Girl' star.

Earlier this week, we reported that Cobra Starship are working with "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi on their new album. Well, now it turns out that they're working with another prime-time star: Leighton Meester from "Gossip Girl."

On Thursday, Cobra frontman Gabe Saporta, DioGuardi and Meester — who debuted a song called "Birthday" last week — spent time in a Los Angeles studio working on a remix of a song called "I Make Good Girls Go Bad," which Saporta and DioGuardi had originally written for CS's new album.

It's not as much of a stretch as you'd imagine. Saporta is an avowed "Gossip Girl" nut (he even mentioned the show back in December, when we asked him to name his favorites of 2008), and when he heard Meester was working on an album, he thought "Girls" would be perfect for her. So, thanks to the power of positive dreaming — and some phone calls — he found himself winging to L.A. to work with her. We e-mailed him for comment on the collaboration, and this is what he had to say:

"CAN YOU BELIEVE I GET TO DO A SONG WITH BLAIR WALDORF?! It's no secret that I am a HUGE Gossip Girl fan. (On tour, our fans bring me copies of the episodes I am missing so I can stay caught up)," Saporta wrote. "A couple months ago, I heard a rumor that Leighton was working on a record, and I went to sleep that night dreaming of what it would be like to do a song with her. Next morning (afternoon, actually) I wake up to find out my dreams are coming true! Some people made phone calls to some other people, then, shazam! I'm on a plane to LA to record with my boo. I knew I had the perfect song for her too: 'I Make Good Girls Go Bad.' "

It's not known if the song will end up on Meester's album (or if there will even be a Meester album, for that matter), or Cobra's follow-up to 2007's Viva la Cobra (the making of which fans can follow through the band's CobraCam Web site). Or even both. Either way, Saporta's not sweating it. He's already living out a dream.

"Leighton is already quite adept at portraying a princess with a nasty side — now she's just gotta sing about it," he wrote. "If all the world's a stage, we should all be so lucky to play 'Gossip Girl' characters."

Rick Ross Talks About Collaborating With The-Dream

'To be in a position where I can run into somebody as big as The-Dream and request something ... that fascinates me," the MC says.

Rick Ross actually shot two videos while in Medellin, Colombia — one with singer Avery Storm (he's signed to Nelly's Derrty Records), titled "Rich Off Cocaine," and one with labelmate The-Dream for his next single, "All I Really Want."

"I bumped into Dream walking into the Def Jam office," Ross recently told us in New York. "I ran up on him, I said, 'You're killing them right now. I need some of that Michael Jackson/Dream. I need some of that Jackson Five flow.' He told me he had me. It took a few days, he gave me a call. I was blown away."

Ross says the music on the song really dictated where he wanted to go on his April 21 release, Deeper Than Rap.

"I feel like that's the direction I want the music and the album to go. For people who haven't heard it, it's a sophisticated sound. It's more heartfelt.

"The first time I heard [the instrumental for 'All I Really Want'], I sat back and said, 'Rick Ross on this record right here.' I do so many street features, so many club anthems. Five days a week I'm either recording those types of songs for somebody or for myself. To be in a position where I can run into somebody as big as The-Dream and request something and he gives me something above my imagination — that fascinates me."

The lyrics to "All Really Want" explain what Ross wants in life. "I just want happiness," he said.

Susan Boyle Won't Be Turned Into A 'Glamour-Puss'

Scottish singer and Internet sensation says she's 'gobsmacked' by fame.
By Kathleen Newman Bremang

At this point, it's almost an understatement to say Susan Boyle has had the biggest week of her life. The unassuming middle-age church worker is now an international singing sensation, thanks to her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Misérables" on "Britain's Got Talent," which has garnered 25 million views (and counting) on YouTube in less than a week.

Along with the millions of YouTubers who have fallen in love with the frumpy, sweet 47-year-old, the judges from "Britain's Got Talent" are big fans. Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan told "Early Show" host Julie Chen on Friday morning (April 17) that they were just as surprised as everyone else when Boyle started to belt out the classic song.

"It's a very shallow thing to say but, obviously, the minute she walked onstage we all, and the audience, completely judged her on her appearance and everything else." Holden said. "You know, that true cliché: We judged a book by its cover."

Morgan even went so far as to apologize to Boyle for underestimating her talent based on her unconventional appearance.

"I would just like to apologize to Susan Boyle," he said. "I think we owe her on apology because it was an amazing performance. We were all laughing at her when she started and by the end, the last laugh was on her."

Boyle even managed to melt the heart of third "Talent" judge, notoriously harsh critic Simon Cowell. "The minute Susan Boyle walked on the stage and opened her mouth, I just saw dollar signs in Simon's eyes," Holden said. "Whether she wins or not, he will sign her up."

As for Boyle's chances to win the competition? Holden and Morgan said that while Boyle already has a head start with her millions of followers, she'll still have to earn the chance to sing for Queen Elizabeth, an honor bestowed on the winner of the competition. And despite Boyle's lack of pop-star looks, Holden swears they won't try to make her over.

"I don't want to turn her into a glamour-puss. We're all rooting for the underdog here."

Riding the wave of this instant fame, Boyle has already appeared on the CBS "Early Show" and she's scheduled to talk to Larry King and Oprah Winfrey next.

"I never imagined anything like this, [but] it's been totally amazing," she told The Associated Press of the attention that's left her "gobsmacked."

But the instant star swears she's not leaving her hometown of Blackburn, Scotland, to seek international success. "I was born and bred here; I won't leave here."
