The-Dream and Kanye West want to record a full album together, the R&B singer says. West appears on Dream's "Walking on the Moon," the probable third single from the singer/songwriter's just-released album Love vs. Money.

"Everybody is trying to talk us into it," Dream said of his and West's friends and business associates. "It was first thought of by me. I was in Miami at the time, and I gave Kanye a call and said, 'The best thing would be for me and you to do an album.' I feel he's at a certain place in hip-hop, I'm at a certain place in R&B, and lyrically, I'm just in a certain place in my lifetime. Let's take the best of both worlds and put it on a CD and try to make something we can sell to the consumers. He says he's with it. We're gonna try to make it happen. I told him, 'Let me lift my profile up a little bit.' "

Reps for West declined to comment on a joint-album plan.

Seeing that The-Dream recorded his debut LP Love/Hate in just nine days, and it took Kanye a little more than half that time to record 808s & Heartbreak, Dream feels the collaborative full-length could be tackled in no time.

"It wouldn't take that long at all, once we got the concept," Dream said.

Next up on his plate, Dream is co-writing Mariah Carey's entire next album. They're penning and recording at a feverish pace, coming up with seven records in six days. Christina Milian is just about finished with her album. She's signed to Dream's Radio Killer Records, and her next single is called "I'm a Cheat." Mary J. Blige's next album is also on deck, and The-Dream is headed out on the road with Keyshia Cole on a tour.

New Chris Brown/ Rihanna Duet Confirmed

A rep for producer Polow Da Don says song was recorded days after Brown was charged in alleged altercation.

A spokesperson for producer Polow Da Don has confirmed that Chris Brown and Rihanna have recorded a duet. According to CNN, the unnamed song was tracked with Don just days after Brown, 19, was charged with two felonies over his alleged February 8 altercation with girlfriend Rihanna, 21.

Don's publicist said the singers — who reportedly reunited at a home owned by Diddy in Miami two weeks ago — completed the song earlier this week, though no other details were available on the track. A spokesperson for Don did not return requests for comment on the song, and spokespeople for Brown and Rihanna have declined to comment about the sessions.

"My heart goes out to both Chris and Rihanna for what has happened in the past," Polow said in a statement. "They are both great artists to work with, and I wish them well."

Brown was charged with assault and making criminal threats on March 5 and is due back in court on April 6 for his arraignment in the case.

On Wednesday, Us Magazine reported additional details on the song, quoting an unnamed source describing it as having a theme "about being stronger and growing stronger in a relationship. ... The song was originally created for Rihanna before the fight. However, it wasn't initially slated for Chris to be on the song."

The source added: "The funny thing is, the song expresses the emotions that both Chris and Rihanna are feeling at this moment — facing challenges and overcoming the ups and downs of a relationship in which you become stronger." The singers were described as being "very playful" in the studio during the session.

A month before the alleged incident, MTV News reported that the couple, who have been very private about their yearlong relationship, had actually already worked on their first original track together. The song, "Bad Girl," which leaked in January, was recorded for the soundtrack to "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and was produced by Polow but ultimately didn't make the final cut for the album.

"I came from a Jerry Bruckheimer meeting after seeing the movie, and they were telling us all the music they needed for all the scenes and the characters," Polow told MTV about his sit-down with the movie's producer. "So that night, I went to the studio and I was telling Chris about [the meeting]. And he was like, 'Let's get on it.' It was crazy, because Jerry Bruckheimer's dream was to have a song from Rihanna (for the movie), and I delivered Rihanna and Chris Brown in 24 hours. So they were like, 'Wow, that's crazy.' "

In the song, Rihanna talks about her shopping addiction, her penchant for bags and shoes and her not-so-thrifty purchasing habits. "Need no bargain, need no sale/ I want the best, I dress me well," she sings. Brown chimes in with a rap about his better half toward the end of the track. "She's a walking store, I'm talking about her clothes/ I just pause, I'm in awe, 'cause she's a fashion show."

At the time, Polow praised Brown's energy and work ethic, as well as Rihanna's unique voice and easygoing attitude and said, "We actually did a lot more records that hopefully will be coming soon."

Rick Ross Finally Admits Prison-Guard Past

Posted: 12 Mar 2009 02:34 AM PDT

'Yes, it was me in those pictures,' Ross tells XXL magazine.
By Shaheem Reid

After months of denials and flat-out refusing to address the subject, Rick Ross has admitted to being employed as a correctional officer. In the May issue of XXL magazine, the Miami rap star finally owns up.

"Me not answering or addressing that situation has nothing to do with my career," he's quoted as saying. "I've accomplished enough, and I've made enough money for me to be good. ... Yes, it was me in those pictures. But I'mma tell you this. Me taking that job, I was doing my job. You understand what I mean?"

After a picture of Ross wearing a guard uniform leaked onto the Internet, The Smoking Gun Web site was the first to crack the case concerning Ross' controversial background. They released purported official papers detailing his job and old pay stubs. While the evidence of Ross' past seemed irrefutable, the MC had brushed it off until now, despite blog talk and continual mocking from 50 Cent (the G-Unit have constantly called him "Officer Ricky" in songs and interviews).

Ross told XXL that his credibility cannot be fazed and the drug-dealing stories in his songs are authentic.

"The stuff I talk about is real. The dope is real," he insisted. "The gun talk is official. Look up [notorious Miami gang member] Kenneth 'Boobie' Williams. Look where he's from. That's not nothing to be proud of. I wish that on no man. But, just to let you know, that's what I witnessed. It's a reality. I cannot discuss certain people that's still in the streets, and I will not. I took a street oath, and I'mma live by that, and I'mma die by that. And it's not about a music career, 'cause that sh--, I'm good. It's about me and being in the streets."

The article also delves into Ross' much-hyped feud with 50 Cent.

"50 Cent made a statement [that he'll] ruin somebody's life," Ross snarled. "Where I come from, it takes a AK-47 to do that. Cartoons, we laugh — funny. You put on a wig, come out the closet — funny. At the end of the day, we in the streets finna drop another #1 album, we pressing on."

In February, Ross told MTV News that he was not impressed with 50's showing in their battles.

"My freestyles as you could hear them, 'Kiss My Pinky Ring,' I do them in 20 minutes and put them out there," he said. "Those crumble empires. People listening to how potent the music is. That's all this really is for me."

50 Cent is planning to one-up Ross by releasing a sex tape called "Time to Make a Movie" that is said to feature one of Ross' children's mothers, known only as Brooke. At press time, neither 50 Cent nor Ross had responded to MTV News' requests for comment about that report, however, on Thursday afternoon (March 13), 50 released a trailer on his Web site.

Russell Brand Chides Miley Cyrus For Writing Memoir

'She's only been alive half an hour,' the 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' funnyman says.

You might say Russell Brand is as addicted to controversy as he once was to heroin and sex. Sometimes that affinity for turbulence blows up in his face (don't show up to work the day after 9/11 dressed as Osama bin Laden and expect to keep your job). Other times, however, the British comedian's talent for the well-crafted dustup shines through.

Such was the case when Brand stopped by the MTV News offices to promote the publication of his memoir "My Booky Wook" and initiated a hilarious war of words with 16-year-old Miley Cyrus, who also has a new memoir on the bookshelves.

"Miley Cyrus?" he said when informed of "Miles to Go," the teen's contribution to the literary world. "She's only been alive half an hour. What's she going to say: 'The womb was warm'?"

Brand's own memoir tends toward the raunchy and scandalous. Chapter titles include "Umbilical Noose," "Teacher's Whisky" and "Let's Not Tell Our Mums." His stories recount such formative experiences as the time his father introduced him to prostitutes on a trip to Asia and how he once got into a naked, drug-fueled brawl with a stripper.

That is the stuff of autobiographical gold, Brand maintains, not the reflections of a Disney personality who just got her driver's license. As he traveled up and down the MTV elevators with Movies Editor Josh Horowitz, the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star kept inventing lines he suspected were in Cyrus' book. " 'It's nice in there,' " Brand said of Miley's in-the-womb musings. " 'There's all sorts of fluids.' "

Brand's bottom line? "That's not a book," he said. "I don't buy it. It's a very short story. Anything that's been written by a sperm and an ovum--it's too short."

When he wasn't busy initiating a tongue-in-cheek literary smackdown, Brand dished some inside details about his upcoming Judd Apatow comedy, "Get Him to the Greek." The movie is a spin-off of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and will follow Brand's character, rock star Aldous Snow, as he travels from London to perform a gig in Los Angeles.

"He's gone back on crack and heroin, so it makes him difficult to look after," Brand said of Snow. "Like a lot of drug addicts, he's a pain in the ass."

Though original star Jason Segel most likely won't appear in the new film, he will be making an active contribution to it. "Jason's written some songs for Aldous Snow to sing," Brand revealed. "Jason's really cool with writing songs."

Jonah Hill will be the only other actor returning from the original cast, but Brand is promising a host of new Hollywood stars will be joining in. "Really famous ones," he teased, "but I'm not allowed to say yet, because I always blurt things out too quickly. But people who you go, 'He's in it?!' "

Like Brad Pitt?

"Better!"

Is Britney Spears' 'If U Seek Amy' Her Best Video Ever?

With nods to 'Slave 4 U,' 'Toxic' and more, clip sums up Britney's career to date.
By James Montgomery

Over the past few months, there's been off-the-charts buzz surrounding Britney Spears's new video for the song "If U Seek Amy," from her new album, Circus. In January, radio stations got all hot and bothered about the tune's chorus, which, in a brilliantly juvenile move, spells out a rather dirty word. Then, in early February, a handful of photos from the set of the video showing Brit as a sexy housewife sent the blogosphere into a tizzy.

Couple all that with the excitement generated by the launch of her "everything-under-the-big-top-including-an-actual-big-top" Circus tour, and word began to spread that not only was Britney back in top form, but that the "Amy" clip would be her greatest ever.

All that buzz came to a head on Thursday (March 12) morning, when the video premiered on Virgin Mobile's Web site. We all got our first glimpse at the clip, which, while it might not be the greatest Britney video of all time, is certainly the most, well, Britney.

And by that, I mean that it manages to combine elements from all of Spears's previous incarnations, and whirl them up into one rather head-swirling clip. Stylistically, it recalls her underrated "Everytime" video (shot-wise, not necessarily depressing-wise), and the entwined, nearly-nude bodies of "I'm A Slave 4 U." There's the come-hither stare she put on in the "Stronger" video, not to mention the body-writhing of clips like "Toxic" and "Womanizer." She takes subtle jabs at the media — and not just at the beginning of the video, with a faux Fox News bit, but also some 40 seconds later, when she bends down to pick up a stray pair of panties, like she did in the "Piece of Me" video. Oh, and of course, at the end of "Amy," there's her (fictional) daughter, dressed in the infamous schoolgirl outfit from "... Baby, One More Time," the video that put Britney on the map.

It's a pretty amazing amalgamation of all things Brit, and a nice primer of her entire career up to this point. And when you consider that there's (perhaps) even a message here — that even good girls have a nasty side, and that the holiest-of-thou can also be the naughtiest-of-all — well, then you've got to put "If U Seek Amy" on the top shelf of Britney clips.

But is it her greatest ever? I don't think even the hardest of hard-core Brit nuts would make that claim (re-watch the "Toxic" and "Slave" videos again if you need a refresher), but it certainly ranks up there. By now, it's passé to say — as fans did after the Circus tour premiere — that "Britney's back" in regards to the "Amy" video, it's perhaps more fitting to say "Britney's (looking) back."

Jasmine Murray Calls New 'American Idol' Rule 'A Great Idea'

'They're giving people extra chances to get closer to reaching their dreams,' teen says of judges' 'save.'
By Katie Byrne

The "American Idol" judges saved Jasmine Murray once, but they weren't willing to give her yet another chance.

The Columbus, Mississippi, wild-card contestant brought her pageant poise to a performance of the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There," but the judges (and America) wanted her to loosen up a bit, sending her packing along with Jorge Nuñez. So what's next? We caught up with the 16-year-old to talk about the big twist revealed during the results show, what the judges said to her after she was eliminated and more.

Q: What did the judges say to you after the show?

A: They were just encouraging me to keep going and keep singing, which I'm so glad they did. They were so nice. I'm definitely going to keep singing and keep trying to pursue my dream.

Q: What do you think about the judges' new "save" option?

A: I think that's actually a good idea. Amongst other things they've gotten to do this year — the top 36 and wild card and the top 13 — I think it's great. They're giving people extra chances to get closer to reaching their dreams, and I think it's a great idea.

Q: Were you hopeful that the judges would give you another chance?

A: You never know in this kind of competition, because the wild card ... it was just unbelievable that they picked me for that. You always have to have hope and you have to have faith and believe that it could happen, and there was a possible chance. They could've said yes, but they didn't, and it's OK. I understand. They know what they want for the competition, and they probably wanted to save it.

Q: What did it feel like having to perform again for the judges after you found out you were in the bottom two?

A: It felt like any other time that I've performed and they've judged me. I was just happy to be back onstage. That stage is just so amazing. The lights and the audience — it's amazing the energy you get from being up there. And being able to perform that one last time up there was so great for me, and I'm glad I got to do it.

Q: What's next?

A: After this, I've gotta finish high school, because I'm a junior in high school. I'm gonna go to college, definitely, and pursue music. I really want to have a career in music and maybe other things, but this is really where my heart is.

Joaquin Phoenix Tussles With Heckler At Miami Show

Actor-turned rapper tangles with clubgoer as crowd chants, 'Joaquin!'

Joaquin Phoenix appears to be taking this whole hip-hop thing pretty seriously. Because last night, he got gangster.

During a performance at LIV, the swanky nightclub located at Miami's Fountainebleau Hotel, early Thursday morning (March 12), Phoenix — who was reportedly scheduled to take the stage at 10 p.m. but didn't do so until 2 a.m. — took issue with a heckler in the audience, leaping off the stage and attempting to pound on the man before being dragged away by security.

Of course, before he could get to the beatdown, Phoenix gave the unidentified heckler a sound tongue-lashing, stopping mid-rap to announce "We have a b---h in the audience!" before pointing at the heckler and shouting, "I've got a million dollars in my f----ing bank account, what the f--- have you got?"

As clubgoers cheered, Phoenix, dressed in a dark suit with matching shades, his hair and beard wild as ever, dropped his mic and proceeded to pounce into the crowd. He scuffled with the heckler while LIV security attempted to separate the two and the crowd chanted, "Joa-quin! Joa-quin!"

Phoenix was then escorted back to the stage by security, while the house DJ urged the crowd to "make some noise!" and then playfully asked, "Is that it?" Phoenix then resumed his set.

Hours after the incident, footage had already appeared on YouTube, and several outlets reported that Phoenix's brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, was also on hand to shoot the fight, leading some to believe that this is just another step in an increasingly complex prank the pair are playing on the media.

As of press time, no charges had been filed as a result of the scuffle, and an e-mail to Phoenix's rep seeking comment was not returned.

Chris Brown/ Rihanna Incident Inspires 'Oprah' Episode

Winfrey addresses domestic violence by talking to teens in abusive relationships.

In a special episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the host addressed the alleged altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna by talking about domestic violence with teens who have been in abusive relationships. She also spoke with Tyra Banks, who shared her experience of being in an emotionally abusive relationship.

"If you go back with a man who hits you, it's because you don't think you're worthy of being with a man who won't," Winfrey said. "I've said before love doesn't hurt, and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again."

One of the teen girls who had been in an abusive relationship was Brittany, who is pregnant. The father, who abused her, is currently in jail. Banks said that like Brittany, she kept going back to her abuser. "He never hit me, but there were blows to my spirit," she said. "Two weeks into the relationship, I felt he was strange. I was at the top of my game, but I didn't feel good inside."

Banks also talked about interviewing Rihanna and Brown and how they shared their experiences growing up in abusive homes. "Rihanna told me that her parents used to argue so intensely and she used to get these headaches, almost migraines ... and it was almost living hell for her," Banks said. "The moment her parents separated, the headaches went away."

"When you grew up in an environment where there is abuse, it's more acceptable to you," Winfrey said. "It's so sad that even when you grow up in an environment and you disdain that environment, you really cannot help yourself until someone helps you."

When asked about the couple's alleged reconciliation, some of the teens on Winfrey's show criticized Rihanna for sending out the wrong message by getting back with him.

"I think we need to send them both love," Winfrey said.

Radiohead Tell Miley Cyrus To Grow Up

Cyrus had said she'd 'ruin' the rockers because they wouldn't meet with her at the Grammys.

A week after Miley Cyrus shared with the world her plans to "ruin" Radiohead after they snubbed the young starlet at the Grammy Awards, the band has responded to the singer's threat.

Last week, Miley went on the radio and shared an anecdote about how excited she was about finally having the chance to meet Radiohead at the Grammys — only to be told the guys "don't really do that." So, she said, "I left, 'cause I was so upset. I wasn't going to watch [them perform]. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them. I'm going to tell everyone."

The band wasn't amused by her story. "When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement," the band told the new issue of Us Weekly in a statement.

The Miley beef is just one of a few feuds the rockers find themselves in these days. Kanye West also has a bone to pick with the band. During his "VH1 Storytellers" taping, West told the audience he, too, was snubbed by the British band at the Grammys. He was so mad that when Radiohead performed, "I sat the f--- down."

So, much in Kanye's style, the guys addressed the beef rumors on their Web site, Dead Air Space. "Wish us all a safe journey," Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke blogged. "If you still like us and you're not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing, xx."

Robert Pattinson Defends Camilla Belle, Explains Kristen Stewart 'Proposal'

In GQ interview, 'Twilight' star insists he's just pals with Joe Jonas' girlfriend.
By Jocelyn Vena

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson is setting the record straight about his love life in a GQ cover story that is sure to break hearts everywhere.

And, no, he didn't admit to dating anyone. "I don't see people. I don't even have people's phone numbers," he said. "I almost don't want to have a girlfriend in this environment."

This should also clear up any other rumors about his love life, like how he's supposedly dating a Brazilian model. "There's literally not a single [true] story that could be written about me. I never do anything," he said. "There's this thing about my supposed girlfriend ... what's her name — Annelyse. I've never met her."

(Check out the photos of Robert Pattinson from GQ.)

There's also that long-standing rumor that Pattinson proposed to "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart. Well, it's a rumor that he is partially to blame for. "I said that in some interview as a joke — 'Oh, I proposed to her multiple times,' " he recalled. "And then it gets printed: 'On the set, he proposed multiple times.' "

When the magazine asked Stewart about the incident, she revealed that this is one of the actor's fatal flaws. "He probably proposes to several girls a day," she said. "It's sort of his thing. He thinks it's cute."

Let's also not forget the rumor that he is in a love triangle with Camilla Belle and Joe Jonas. "That's the funniest one," Pattinson said. "No. I mean, yeah, yeah, I'm friends with Camilla.

"I met her at her place the other day, and there's a security gate, and even the security woman — I guess she knows that Camilla lives there, and she was like, 'Oooh!' That's the extent of it."

But he does admit that Belle is "the nicest — she's a saint. And it's funny that she's being portrayed as this home-wrecker. She's literally the most unlikely person to be a home-wrecker. It's just ridiculous."

Regardless of being at the center of many a romance rumor, the British heartthrob has a sense of humor about the whole thing. "OK," he jokingly admitted. "I f---ed Joe Jonas."
