Aubrey O'Day 'Would Never Say No' To Danity Kane Reunion

'Danity Kane was a wonderful group, and like all things, nothing is forever,' she says.

Aubrey O'Day doesn't want to take part in the speculation and gossip that she feels her fellow former Danity Kane members are spreading in the media about the future of the group.

"In regards to the other negativity, I really just chose not to comment," she told MTV News. "I wrote a blog on my MySpace page, and if anyone wants to know how I feel, they can go there."

O'Day did choose to address the reports that she and D.Woods were asked to come back for the new season of "Making the Band 4." She assures MTV News that as far as she knows, this wasn't the case at all. "Well, I was fired and we all saw that," O'Day said. "I'm not sure about the other girls — who was invited back or what they were asked to do — but I obviously wouldn't be invited back if I was fired."

Recently, Dawn Richard came to MTV News to kill the rumor that she had already begun work on her solo album when she was still in Danity Kane. Although O'Day had accused Richard of doing so during the last season of "MTB," when asked about it now, O'Day didn't want to reiterate her suspicions.

"I can't speak on her life; I have no idea," she said. "I know what they have confirmed to me, and that is what I said in the season finale."

O'Day said she doesn't want to sully DK's good name. In fact, she's hoping that fans will continue to honor the group that made her a star.

"Danity Kane was a wonderful group, and like all things, nothing is forever. We had a great run and we were very successful," she said. "We may not have that answer for our fans, which is disappointing, but we did try, and that's more than a lot of people."

Despite the fact that she's pursuing her own career as a solo artist, O'Day would never turn down the chance to get onstage with her old bandmates. "I have so much respect for that situation, if there was ever interest in me coming back ... and making music with the girls, I would never say no to something like that."

50 Cent Says Rihanna Photo Changed His Perspective On Chris Brown Arrest

Rapper had mentioned alleged altercation in online comedy skits, until he realized 'it's not funny.'

50 Cent admittedly shows less compassion than the average person when it comes to going to war in rap battles. However, in other issues, 50 has a heart, and even he knows when to not cross the line. The Queens MC told MTV News on Tuesday afternoon (February 24) that he has changed his mind: Chris Brown and Rihanna's alleged altercation is no laughing matter.

On his Web site, ThisIs50.com, Fif has made references to the pair's recent, apparently violent incident in the "Pimpin' Curly" series as well as in his Saturday morning animated disses to Rick Ross. He featured Ross as a cop and Chris and Rihanna as characters from the game "Street Fighter." "Officer Ricky" eventually arrests Brown and tosses him in jail along with Suge Knight.

"I thought that was something you could use for humor, like any other comedian would utilize current events to put into their actual [presentation], being humorous a little bit," 50 explained while promoting his new video game, "50 Cent: Blood on the Sand," which hit stores Tuesday. "I put [reference to the incident] in a 'Pimpin' Curly' skit a little bit. From the perspective of the character, I mentioned it."

50 says those comedic references were made prior to TMZ posting a photograph of a badly beaten Rihanna. He immediately changed his mind about making light of the situation.

"After I saw the photograph, that wasn't funny anymore," 50 said. "I didn't have any information on it. You're just going on what the public actually had. It shifts the whole thing. Even if you're saying you're in a dysfunctional relationship, I understand that. There's a point when you're already past a woman fighting you back. You look at [the picture], and it's obviously past that point. There's some issues there that definitely gotta be addressed. Not to take any shots at Chris or Rihanna or take sides in any way, [but] it's really not cool. It's not funny anymore, so there will definitely be no more reference to that from me in any way."

The Chris Brown/ Rihanna altercation is still under investigation by police. Brown was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and is out on bail. The topic has rocked the entertainment world, as everyone from Jay-Z to Kanye West to Ne-Yo has spoken out about what allegedly happened.

Play N Skillz Want In On Lil Wayne And T-Pain's 'T-Wayne' Project

'They're probably just as crazy as us,' Dallas-based beatmakers say of duo.

DALLAS — Hey, Lil Wayne and T-Pain — the producers of the Grammy-nominated hit single "Get Money" say they have more in store for you. Play N Skillz want in on the much-anticipated secret duet "T-Wayne" album.

"They're probably just as crazy as us," Play — the oldest of the Dallas-based sibling beat-masters — said about why he thinks the foursome could make more hits. After being passed from rapper to rapper and eventually making its way to T-Pain, the beat that Play N Skillz crafted became the soundscape for "Got Money."

"Pain is so talented and Wayne ... they match the energy of the beat," Play added about the record, which was nominated for a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy. "There's a certain energy of the beat, the way it breaks down. It changes every eighth bar. Wayne kept up with it and Pain got on top of it."

"I think they brought it to the record," Skillz said. "There were a couple of other versions [of 'Got Money'] where people were rapping on it and it just wasn't the same. It's crazy."

After rappers such as Pitbull passed on using the track for one reason or another, T-Pain took custody of the beat but wouldn't tell the producers who he had in mind to rap on the song.

"I thought Jay-Z," Play said. "Somebody ... I'm not saying Wayne isn't that caliber, but this was prior to Carter III — eight, nine months prior to Carter III. I thought it was Kanye or T.I., somebody that had already put albums out before that that was [currently] multiplatinum level. They told me it was Wayne, I was like, 'No problem.' "

Play N Skillz share a Grammy with Wayne for producing his Rap Album of the Year, Tha Carter III. The duo have been contacted about possibly submitting records for Tha Carter IV and hope to help out on the T-Wayne album.

Kelly Clarkson Wants You Back ... Maybe

Posted: 25 Feb 2009 04:50 AM PST

All I Ever Wanted has us crawling back to Kelly, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Photo: Theo Wargo/WireImage

Kelly Clarkson is not over you, but she's moved on. This much is clear on her new album All I Ever Wanted, a breakup record that isn't so much about breaking up with anyone in particular as it is about breaking up with everyone in the entire world.

This is because, in some way, we're all her exes. We have all kicked her to the curb in favor of someone new (Katy Perry?), moved on with our lives and convinced ourselves we are happier without her. This may or may not actually be the case — we still haven't deleted her from our cell phones, still see her name lurking there on our IM list and sometimes, when it is very late at night and we are very drunk, we have to try very hard not to send her a text message. These things are complicated.

We had a rather intense relationship, you see. One that started out as an infatuation ("American Idol," "Miss Independent," the better-than-you-remember second single from Thankful); grew to a burning, have-my-baby brand of obsession ("Since U Been Gone"); then ended abruptly and quite badly (the whole My December debacle). Things got weird and complicated, and we decided that this wasn't working anymore, that we needed to be free, so we split. It was a very cruel breakup, full of canceled arena tours and fizzled singles, and none of it was really Kelly's fault. Still, we left her standing there. We broke her heart.

Needless to say, we had this coming.

So All I Ever Wanted is Clarkson's rebound, her ill-advised trip to Cancun with her girlfriends, her fling with an underwear model (metaphorically speaking). It is designed to make us jealous, to realize we were wrong about her and to want her back with every fiber of our beings. There are probably questionable Facebook photos involved. There are definitely margaritas. It's how she got her groove back, or at least how she tried to convince herself she did.

It's a bipolar listen, full of unabashed pop ("If I Can't Have You" — which sounds like "Rock Lobster" reworked by Soft Cell — and the 22nd-century malt-shop hop of "I Want You"), big crunchy guitar chords and tear-tinged ballads. For every moment on the album when Clarkson sounds positively giddy, powerful and in control — whether it's squealing, "Uno, dos, tres, quatro!" on the shooters-n-suntan anthem "Whyyawannabringmedown" or proudly telling some dipsh-- suitor that "I Do Not Hook Up" — there's a moment when she sounds like she's about to lock herself in the bathroom and burst into tears. On "Cry," she wonders, "Is it over yet? Can I open my eyes?," and on album closer "If No One Will Listen" — which recalls "I Know," the capper to Fiona Apple's 1999 album When The Pawn ... (no kidding) — she tells a former lover that "If no one wants to look at you/ For what you really are/ I'll be here, still," while a winsome piano weeps in the background.

She's clearly got some things on her mind. Things she can't tell the underwear model about. Mainly, you.

Still, Clarkson is smart enough to know things don't work this way. She hasn't forgotten your reaction to My December (or, more specifically, she hasn't forgiven you for it), so she's not about to come crawling back. And somewhere deep down inside, she knows you're feeling all the same things she is ... only more so, because you're the one who hurt her. (And to only further twist the knife, she makes sure to include a pair of songs — "Hook Up" and "Long Shot" — that were originally intended as demos for your new gf, Katy Perry. And she kills them.) Bottom line, you're the one who screwed this up in the first place. You're the one who should be suffering, not her.

Of course, things are never so cut-and-dried. And she basically says as much on "My Life Would Suck Without You," her dynamo first single and the opening track on Wanted. Singing to the jerk who left her high-and-dry (hey, that's you!), but now kneels broken-hearted and apologetic at her feet, she should just tell him (or us) to f--- off and hit the bricks because she's got a new man — a better man — in her life now: an underwear model with abs that you can grate parmesan on. Only, she doesn't.

"I know that I've got issues/ But you're pretty messed up too," she tells us. "Either way, I've found out/ I'm nothing without you." Then she takes us into her arms and admits that we belong together, and despite all outward appearances to the contrary, her life would, in fact, suck without us.

And then maybe it's OK, and we're able to move beyond the past. Maybe we need Kelly Clarkson back in our lives. Our hearts seem to tell us that. Then again, maybe we're making a huge mistake. No one is really sure when it comes to stuff like this. Breaking up is hard to do.

'American Idol' Wannabes Norman Gentle, Adam Lambert, Megan Corkrey Up Next

Show will be pre-empted by President Obama's address, returns Wednesday.

Don't adjust your dials: Your TiVo didn't miss "American Idol" this week. The show is merely kicking back a night to make room for President Obama's address Tuesday night (February 24). But things crank up again Wednesday with group-two auditions, which will yield the second trio of singers going on to the show's top 12.

The next round is filled with singers who've flown mostly under the radar to date, plus a few drama queens who have managed to get their share of the spotlight since the first auditions. First on that list, of course, is Nick "Norman Gentle" Mitchell, 27, the spangly shirt-and-headband-wearing pride of Brookfield High School — which also spawned season two's 10th-place finisher, Julia DeMato. The comedian/singer is one of the most unlikely "Idol" top-36 contestants to date, and it remains to be seen if his funnyman shtick will fly with voters after he charmed the judges in Hollywood.

Also on the roster is flamboyant singer Adam Lambert, 26, who has won praise and some criticism for his musical-theater, diva-esque vocals; Megan Corkrey, 22, the divorced mother whose soulful voice is as colorful as her sleeve of tattoos; and 16-year-old Starkville, Mississippi soul belter, and "Team Diva" survivor, Jasmine Murray. The other 16-year-old on the block is Los Angeles' Allison Iraheta, who recently told the Los Angeles Times that she idolizes Pink, Jack White and Franz Ferdinand.

Bearded crooner Kai Kalama, who used to rock out in a band called Offwhite with his brother, is in the mix, as is Kalamazoo's mini-Justin Timberlake, Matt Giraud, who has released two albums already, including 2006's Mind, Body and Soul. Oklahoma's nice-guy welder, Matt Breitzke, 27, will get another chance, along with a handful of below-the-radar longshots: Jesse Langseth (whose brother is Grammy-winning guitarist/singer Jonny Lang); 28-year-old Jeanine Vailes; child actress and season-seven washout Mishavonna Henson; and ukulele strummer Kris Allen, who could be a dark-horse adversary to early favorite Danny Gokey.

Whoever advances to the top 12 following Thursday's show will join the three top contenders from last week's first round of cuts: Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver.

Next week will see the next 12 singers vie for the final three audience-approved slots: Alex Wagner Trugman, Arianna Afsar, Felicia Barton, Jorge Nuñez, Ju'Not Joyner, Kendall Beard, Kristen McNamara, Lil Rounds, Nathaniel Marshall, Scott MacIntyre, Taylor Vaifanua and Von Smith. And next Thursday, the revamped wild-card round will bring back 12 booted contestants vying for the final three spots in the top 12. At press time, a spokesperson for the show said the details on the format of the wild-card round were not yet available.

Ne-Yo Opens Up About Domestic Abuse

'All of a sudden [domestic abuse is] big news because it went down between Chris Brown and Rihanna — that sucks,' singer says.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Saimon Kos

Talking with MTV News on Monday, Ne-Yo spoke about the alleged altercation between his friends Chris Brown and Rihanna. The singer said that he spoke with Rihanna and she said she's "fine," and said that he wants to speak with Brown about the situation.

"She says she's fine," he said. "She didn't go into detail about what happened. I understand it's a painful situation; I didn't push."

During that same interview, Ne-Yo opened up about the problems of domestic abuse and said he'd seen it in his own home growing up.

"At the end of the day, it's wrong," he said. "There's always another way to handle any situation, be it an argument, whatever the case may be. There's always another way to handle it. I come from a household where stuff like that went on between my mother and my father. I just know for a fact there's another way to go. There's always another way to go."

Brown has said that his former stepfather abused his mother, although the stepfather has disputed his account.

"Abuse of any form — be it physical, be it verbal, whatever the case may be — has been going on and is going on right now," Ne-Yo continued. "It's been a problem. It just sucks that it has to happen to people who are in the spotlight for people to actually start talking about it."

While he stresses the need for the issue to be out in the open, he said he's cynical about the attention it's receiving from some quarters. "Now everybody wants to start this club or write this song about it," he said. "And it's like, what about the millions and millions of women that have been battered and are being battered all over the world right now? What about them?

"All of a sudden its big news because it went down between Chris Brown and Rihanna," he added. "That sucks to me."

Pussycat Doll Revamps 'Slumdog Millionaire' Song 'Jai Ho'

The multiple wins by "Slumdog Millionaire" at Sunday's Oscars have a lot of people buzzing about how the little-movie-that-did might build a bridge between Hollywood and Bollywood. And, with the awards-show hangover just barely wearing off, Nicole Scherzinger has already volunteered to lay the first brick.

(Check out our "Slumdog"-inspired beginners' guide to Bollywood movies.)

The Pussycat Dolls singer has laid down some vocals on a remix of A.R. Rahman's Oscar-winning Best Original Song "Jai Ho," which went up on DesiHits.com on Monday.

"It's an honor to be able to collaborate with A.R. Rahman and be a part of the 'Slumdog Millionaire' project in any way," Scherzinger said in a statement. "The movie, the story and the music [were] a gift and very spiritually uplifting for me. ... I can only hope and pray 'Slumdog Millionaire,' and my version of 'Jai Ho' ('You Are My Destiny') touches and connects people all around the world."

Though the timing seems fortuitous for Scherzinger, it's not the first time she's hooked up with DesiHits. Last fall, during Fashion Week, the site helped the Dolls jump on the bourgeoning Desi bandwagon by helping to outfit the group in saris designed by Rocky S. for their red-carpet entrance.

"With the release of the Pussycat Dolls new remix of 'Jai Ho,' they are continuing to join this popular, international trend by fusing what's hot in the East with the West," DesiHits.com CEO Anjula Acharia-Bath said about the collaboration between Rahman and Scherzinger.

With the song's original frantic beats and uplifting percussion in place, Scherzinger's version replaces the original tune's Hindi words with English lyrics, including the chorus, "You are the reason that I breathe/ You are the reason that I still believe/ You are my destiny/ Jai ho."

'Hills' Star Audrina Patridge Robbed, Posts Surveillance Footage Online

After announcing on her blog that she had been robbed Sunday night, "Hills" star Audrina Patridge promised that she would release the surveillance footage to the public in hopes of finding the two thieves: a man and a woman.

"I had a really rough day today," she wrote in the post. "I got home late last night and realized that my house had been robbed. It was pretty devastating!"

The surveillance footage, posted on Patridge's site as promised, clearly shows the duo walking around the grounds near Patridge's home before going to her door, breaking in and walking out with two bags full of stuff. Patridge offered people a number to call if they recognize the intruders. "Any tips would be most appreciated," she wrote.

She also wrote that she has alerted police about the incident. While most of what they took was "replaceable," Patridge wrote, "They took off with a few very sentimental things too.

"I spent most of the morning filling out police reports and going through the house room by room, making lists of everything that had been taken," she wrote. "Definitely not a good way to start the week."

Patridge isn't a stranger to drama. Just Tuesday (February 24), the trailer for the new season of "The Hills" hit the Web, and it features enough turmoil and fighting to last most people three lifetimes. Last season, Audrina was roommates with Lo Bosworth and Lauren Conrad before moving out on her own.
