'New Moon,' The Taylors Pucker Up For MTV Movie Awards' Best Kiss Posted: 01 Jun 2010 03:52 AM PDT Five smooches battle it out for Best Kiss on Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Anything goes in the Best Kiss category at the MTV Movie Awards. Sometimes a heartfelt kiss comes out on top (see 2005 winners Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling for "The Notebook") and sometimes a silly kiss wins (see 2002 champs Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott for "American Pie 2"). So that means at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, any of our five nominees has a chance at the Golden Popcorn. First up are Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in "The Runaways." Girl-on-girl kisses aren't anything new at the Movie Awards, but something feels particularly rock-and-roll about this one. And we're pretty sure Jane and Bella won't be making out anytime soon, outside of some "Twilight" fan fiction. Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner in "Valentine's Day" are the next nominees. For the onetime real-life couple, their chemistry offscreen definitely translated into an adorable onscreen connection, which means they might have a good chance at this year's show. We'd love to see them hit the stage together and accept that award — awkward! Of course "New Moon" is represented, and fan favorites Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will have Twilighters saying, "Dakota who?" Stewart and Pattinson won Best Kiss last year for "Twilight," and with "Eclipse" right around the bend, we imagine fans are clamoring for a repeat performance at this year's show. Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington made interspecies love sexy in "Avatar," earning them a Best Kiss nod. While they made their relationship work in the film, it's only a matter of time until we know if lightning will strike twice at the big show. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are nominated for their kiss in "The Proposal." Will it be steamy enough to beat out their competition? Will the special powers of the "baby-maker blanket" be strong enough to get these two the victory? The fans must decide! Who gets your vote for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards? Kristen Stewart Leads Best Female Performance Nominees At MTV Movie Awards Posted: 01 Jun 2010 03:52 AM PDT Sandra Bullock, Zoe Saldana, Amanda Seyfried and Emma Watson face off against the 'New Moon' star on Sunday, June 6.
A far cry from the old "Sugar and spice and everything nice" adage, there's something to be said for strong women, and this year's Best Female Performance category at the MTV Movie Awards is packed with them. Despite their diverse backgrounds — from otherworldly Pandora and Hogwarts to the small town of Forks, Washington — the one thing all five nominees have in common is their strength. Here's a look at the five contenders in the Best Female Performance category who will face off Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV: Amanda Seyfried, "Dear John" Emma Watson, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Kristen Stewart, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" Sandra Bullock, "The Blind Side" Zoe Saldana, "Avatar" Who is your pick for Best Female Performance? Joell Ortiz Explains Origins Of 'Yaowa,' Preps New Mixtape Posted: 01 Jun 2010 03:52 AM PDT 'It's a term of endearment around my way,' he tells Mixtape Daily of the invented word.
The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive Brooklyn's Joell Ortiz now has one of the most recognizable call-outs in hip-hop. If you're not familiar, after his mixtape drops this month, you'll be saying: "Yaowa!" "I got so many meanings of yaowa, it's crazy," Ortiz laughed. "First, it's used as a term of endearment for dudes around my way. How you say, 'What up?' We say, 'Yaowa!' It came from my man Smash. Shout to Smash. He used to be really drunk around the way. It's a distance between the buildings. He used to be saying, 'Yo, what up?' But he'd be so drunk, it sounded like he was saying, 'Yawhuhup?' He'd be twisted. I just turned it into yaowa. Every time I get on a beat, I say, 'Yaowa,' before I rap on it. Then I started playing around with it and turned it into [meaning]: 'you're actually one world away.' I be feeling like my flow is not of Earth. I zone out, become an alien with it. On another freestyle, I said, 'I'll put you in a hospital because my flow is so sick.' That's 'your ass on wild anesthetics.' I just be spazzin' out with the yaowa. But it's a term of endearment around my way." Joell's new mixtape is named after his favorite word and hosted by DJ Green Lantern and Don Cannon. "Its called Yaowa. Green Lantern is hosting it along with Don Cannon. We been tossing around ideas," Ortiz said. "We didn't really get to the meat of it. But we have a few ideas to see how we gonna make it classic. Don Cannon's got some ideas, Green Lantern's got some ideas. I think we gonna make it a good one. "Green kinda hooked that up," Joell added about how the Evil Genius and Cannon got involved. "Me and Green was hollering, he said it would be a good idea to hook up with Cannon. Cannon was like, 'That's nothing. I been fiending to do something like that.' So we running a triangle offense with this tape." Lantern and Green will have the primary production on the mixtape, but Joell said he's open to submissions from everyone — as long as the tracks are hot. As for big-name guest appearances, which have become customary with tapes from Rick Ross, the Game, Fabolous, Jadakiss, T.I. and Young Jeezy this year, the Slaughterhouse member said he hasn't thought about it yet. "I'm just thinking about zoning out," he said. "I'm not thinking about who I'm reaching out to. I'm not thinking about who to bring to the tape. I'm just thinking about making a really, really good tape. Letting people know who Joell Ortiz is one more time. This time with Green Lantern and Don Cannon. Just rapping, that's what I do the best. I rap. I'm concerning myself with rippin' this tape and getting some good feedback on it."
